Okay, but you know who is such an underrated character? Derek from Little Monsters. Let’s just take a look at what we know about this poor man’s life, shall we?

Firstly, he gets kidnapped by this crazy monster thing. Pretty much however you swing it, that was a nightmarish scenario before we get into the mating thing. And let’s be real here, the wikia calls Derek “the reluctant mate” but, no, he was raped by a manticore. At best, once was enough to conceive the baby, but at worst...

He was then nearly murdered by the manticores and managed to somehow escape. After that, he proceeded to basically mix a bunch of potions until he somehow transformed himself into the Beast. Again, no matter how you swing it, another nightmarish scenario with at best a complete physical transformation. At worst, even more pain on top of it because I really don’t think that transformation didn’t hurt like hell.

After he finally manages to find his son, he ends up getting back but is injured at the same time. Piper then gives him hope that she’ll help him, only for it to be ripped away when the manticores return and nearly kill him while stealing his son again.

The only thing he ever cared about was finding and protecting his son, despite all the traumatic events Derek underwent. Honestly, I think he’s probably the best parent in the show and that’s really before he even gets to raise his son. He deserves literally the entire world, like man.
