Robin is one of the new interns and she has an interest in neuro and genetic illness. She doesn't care for being published or awards but wants to research and become the best in her field.

Steve is Robin's housemate and owns the house they live in. He's not an intern, but sick with something the doctors haven't been able to identify so he kinda went "call me when you do that then" and ditched them to live his life somewhat decent before he croaks.

His symptoms are getting worse though and he's refusing to check himself in again because they can't do shit anyways so what's the point? hence Robin determined to be the best in this field so that she can cure him and others like him so they won't live in pain when they should be enjoying life

Steve and Eddie does meet at a bar the first time but Steve doesn't go with Eddie home, or the other way around because he can't have one night stands or really sex at all due to his symptoms.

He does end up at the hospital after a fall and nagging from Robin but refuses to stay. Eddie doesn't pry at first (Steve may be hot but a stranger still) but does befriend Robin (queers banding together) and so, gets to know Steve.

They do the dance for a bit while Steve symptoms get worse and yet he refuses hospital vists :)

One night, the dog on the left—let's call her Ninny (not her real name)—charged into the darkness and emerged with a creature grasped in her teeth. As we gaped in horror, she shook it around and then released it. The skunk, unfazed, promptly sprayed poor Ninny right in the face. We can laugh about it now, but the potency of such a direct hit was debilitating for both Ninny and the bystanders now gagging and gasping for air. Months later, we were still haunted by phantom whiffs of Eau de Skunk to remind us of our folly.

tell me about the world with the dad and his alien daughter

It's set in our world, on earth, present enough so I'd say the girl is an 80s/90s baby. In this world, there be aliens and they were fighting each other on earth when dad found the baby.

I think it may even be one of the aliens giving him an egg and he's like "m'kay" and then it hatches and he's like "coolcoolcoolcool". He doesn't share it with anyone, of course.

The infant takes on the apperance of a human girl and when she grows older, she has no memory of not being a human girl. She doesn't fit in though and has trouble mentally and physically.

It's not a spoiler since I said it already, but she's not human and so living like one isn't healthy. She doesn't know she isn't, dad doesn't know how to tell her, and then the evil aliens are back and he sets out with his team to take care of it but doesn't return.

She sets out to save him but is accompanied by one of her annoying cousins that's been bullying her for years due to her issue walking and other things, maybe someone else since she can't fly a spaceship idk.

It's not set in the future, just a tech advanced alternate reality of our own world.
