Oh, look at that, I was right but also fuck goddamnit I was right.

Darling Nikko. Trying so hard to do so much and to seize what he has and what's left to him and with him and the way Justin is the most protective and loving friend but also how much Eli loves him and cares for him and just wants more time with him and just aches with being the one who didn't know not understanding how much it had to mean to Nikko to have someone who didn't know and treated him like he mattered regardless.

But this is heartbreaking.

For Eli to start discovering his sexuality but also to discover that the person he loves, the man he loves, the man he wants to be with forever isn't going to be able to spend forever with him no matter what he or Nikko might want.

(All Nikko wanted was a chance to be normal and to have whatever he had with Eli without his illness getting in the way but instead now it's all revealed and he can't even go to prom, the one thing he's been planning and looking forward to for so, so long.)

And then Eli sharing that the only time he feels like he exists to his mother is when he gets in trouble because she notices him then and Nikko is so gentle because he understands.

Oh no, Nikko is too nice and Justin's his best friend but Eli is his crush and he doesn't want to hurt his best friend's feelings but he also doesn't know how to be clear about his feelings without hurting someone. He loves them both. Just... differently. So how does he choose? How does he break a heart or even risk breaking his own?

Honestly, he's struggling so much because he loves them both so much but also because... he does love Eli differently than he loves Justin but Justin has been his friend forever and he cares about him so much, just so much, with all his heart.

(Nikko practically trying to drown himself as he drank water when Justin confessed to him was so perfectly him.)

And then Justin guilt tripping Nikko about choosing the 'bad one'? Ugh. We do not stan guilt-tripping in this show! Seriously. I love that Nikko is clear that he loves him but also clear that he isn't romantically in love with him. So gentle about it but also, finally, clear about it. Darling and so important to do.

And, at least, at the very end... Justin did take their side. He understands that Nikko loves him differently than he loves Eli and that Eli returns that love the way Nikko wants.

(But, of course, this episode had to end with more pain because there's only two episodes left and the show is determined to hurt us as much as possible in the process.)
