honestly, the real reason Jin Ling and Nie Shiyong keep having babies is that Jin Ling loves to cuddle small kids/baby tigers and Nie Shiyong thinks that it's cute.

It's also because Nie Shiyong and Jin Ling are both orphans whose parents were murdered when they were babies. They were not expecting to deal with that past trauma all over again when Jin Hong was born; but eventually, they decided that they were going to have a large, loving, happy family at all costs. ;-;

the Nie disciples keep finding tiger baos in all sorts of awkward places. In the laundry bins! In the pantry, eating snacks! In the gardens, swimming in the ornamental ponds! Napping in nhs' bed! These tiger baos are the bane of disciples trying to keep the Unclean Realm in order. It would be a bigger problem if they weren't so adorable.

Nie Shiyong eventually settles her troublesome baos by shifting into her tiger form and roaring at them. After that, the tiger baos are bundled into a nest made from Jin Ling's clothes and grounded there for a full day. u_u

Jin Ling ends up being the dad with a TON of daughters-in-law? A lot of his kids are wlw or bi and married to women. Jin Ling is just happy that his daughters-in-law are comfortable around him and in Koi Tower because it means he's successfully moving away from the mysogynistic attitudes of the past.

Jin Ling and Nie Shiyong end up with at least 6 or 7 kids (or more)? Jin Ling would be worried about too many pregnancies being bad for NSY's health, except she's totally fine. Now Jin Ling is busily making sure all of his kids get a lot of love and attention.

Jin Ling would be worried, but childbearing is easy for Nie Shiyong because tiger babies are much smaller than human babies (they rarely weigh over 3-4 pounds), and Nie Shiyong weighs upwards of 800 pounds in her tiger form. However, both parents are constantly afraid of misplacing a tiger bao: there are just so many of them.

Jin Ling is horrified, but Nie Shiyong encourages Hong'er to try some of the bird. He doesn't really like it, but he appreciates Fairy's efforts!

I can absolutely believe that modern nhs isn't that great of a cook. So when he unexpecedtly acquires toddler shiyong, he's in a bit of a bind. Toddlers need proper nutrition! Not a lot of takeout and cook from frozen! nhs is calling in emergency da-ge help. Also youtube tutorials.

Nie Huaisang relies on the bakery two or three times a week during A-Yong's first year with him, but he eventually signs up for cooking classes that specialize in child nutrition. A-Yong has to put up with Lan-style bland meals for a little while, but she likes cooking with her dad anyway. :')
