Man, I really feel bad for the Dinotopia guys. They built this whole intricate, creative, enrapturing world, and it was going to be the next big thing. It was gonna be the next franchise. They got George Fucking LUCAS to make a screen adaptation of it. Yeah, the starwars guy. Then midway through production he realizes how much he loves making movies and decides to ditch your project and make the prequels instead. They say there's no bad blood but... man it would fucking kill me to go to the theater and see Naboo and think "Fuck, that coulda been waterfall city"
There still was a franchise. They did eventually make spinoff paperback novels and video games and there were even a couple screen adaptations, but they were done by Lifetime and Hallmark. The lifetime one is actually surprisingly good given its budget. It tells a story that mirrors the structure of the original picture book, two brothers get marooned on Dinotopia, one of them rides a pterosaur and then they have to stop a dude named Krab from stealing a crystal that he needs to make an ancient machine get him off the island... but it's not a reboot or anything, it's the same continuity as the books. I guess guys named Krab really do be stealing crystals every generation or so. It's not really that bad of a series but damn it could have been George Lucas!
I dunno, I just find myself thinking about it. It was a uniquely artistic and non-violent series for its time. All of the dinosaurs and people live in harmony. There used to be a steampunk cyber empire of capitalists who tried to replace dinosaurs with the coolest looking robots you could imagine, but then there was a revolution and they all live in communistic harmony with no real currency. Each according to their need, each to their own ability. All that Jazz.
I'm certainly more normal about it than I am say The Underland Chronicles but I still find myself thinking about those gorgeous communist dinosaur picture books. In another reality, Battleborn won over Overwatch, Galidor never got its budget cut and was actually a smash success, Warner bros actually did something with the TUC film rights, and Kids in the 00s grew up with Dinotopia instead of the Starwars prequels.

Lanterns kindle a new life on the shore.
Yuletide treat for reeby10!
Once upon a time there was an exile cast upon an empty shore, all alone in the world as even the remains of his ship had been taken from him, carried away by the waves. With his first conscious breath, in a weak, hoarse whisper, saltwater burning his throat, he said: “Curse this dying world.”
The fresh night did not pay heed to his bitterness. All across the shore, moonlight kept shining over sparkly grains of sand and birds slept in the reeds, knowing nothing of failure. The world would keep on turning. But somewhere beyond the horizon, along with the last lights of the day, a dream of a better society was drawing its last breaths. They tried. They lost. They fled and failed at that, too, dousing their last small torch of hope in the storm.
The exile cursed his aching muscles too, and the dripping, cold, heavy fabric sticking to his skin and dragging his limbs back against the ground as he clung to a rock and fought to drag himself up, weak and trembling like a fawn. He shivered as a breeze caressed him, then was struck by a bone-deep terror that filled his flesh with screams and smoke: at the far end of the beach, where the cliffs met the sea, rows of lanterns were descending along a narrow path. He remembered the torches, the patrols. The hunt continued in this foreign land and the exile once again knew that he needed to hide. He needed to flee, to put one shaky leg in front of the other, accepting that he would fall down and eat sand and drag himself up again until the ends of the earth. But here, as the last remnant of their shipwrecked dream, without his people, without his cause, he found that he could not hide and he could not flee. His muscles refused to budge. He stood there, trembling, empty, as his fate caught up to him.
The procession cut strange silhouettes against the night sky.
At last, through the wind, he heard drums, and trumpets, and singing. The song was sung in many languages, which the exile did not recognize. He thought he heard, like in a dream, a fragment of his mother’s tongue: “To companions lost at sea,” it said, but it was soon gone, submerged by a tide of inscrutable syllables. Perhaps he was dreaming. The procession crossed the beach like night spirits, letting their singing rise over the jingling of ornaments and staves and then fall silent again like the ebbing of the waves.
And the creatures. No such beasts could have ever walked the earth, as big as an elephant and so armed with horns and crests of unimaginable shapes. These dragons, these spirits of legend, walked as one with the humans in their midst, carrying palanquins and jars, and pouches filled with flowers, and sang, in their own way, with rhythmic clicks and hums.
They all sang to the sea and did not see him. They would go away, as mysteriously as they had appeared, and he would be free to die on that beach, and take the last ember of his dream with him. One trembling step after the other, in the impossibly dilated time of dreams, he moved away from the safety of the rock and toward the procession. “Don’t leave me alone,” he pleaded to this vision, but his throat was parched and he had no voice, and they did not speak his language, anyway. When he reached them and walked along the edge of their tracks, he did not dare approach them. If he were to die walking with ghosts, witnessing, unseen, a glimpse of joyful coexistence, it would be enough. But a child turned around and smiled at him under a thick flower crown, and threw petals at him, then, struck by some form of understanding of his situation, she turned to a grand beast with a crown of horns and picked up a bronze watering can from the bags on its sides. She gave him water. He drank, cried, then drank some more. A swift bipedal dragon tiptoed around the unexpected scene and whispered in its clicking tongue to a man nearby, who gave his standard to the exile, so that he could use its pole as a walking stick to steady his steps. The dragon shook a piece of painted cloth off its back and gave it to him, musky and rough, to use as a cloak. Its unknown symbols felt warm on his back. Honey-filled pastries exchanged hands until they reached him, and he found strength. A creature like a turtle shielded him from the cold land wind. The night was filled with lanterns.
As the words of his mother’s tongue reached him again, he sang with them: To companions lost at sea / come to our shores as flowers / we will spend a day together / in spring...

how many video game ideas do you even have?
an incomplete list of the bajillion video game ideas I have had over the past ten years (if you want verification, @raptorcivilization is usually the schmuck I pitch to) that I can't do because I lack infrastructure and resources:
a redo of the eyewitness dinosaur hunter game for the modern era (but obviously without the eyewitness brand) - so a 3D virtual museum environment with an on-site dig that brings dinos back to life. would include the history of birds after the end-cretaceous.
a redo of the magic school bus explores the age of dinosaurs game (doesn't have to be associated with magic school bus, a cute kulinda protag will work fine) - so a point and click game where you go to different environments, learn about the history of life, play mini experiments and mini games to learn, etc.
a museum tycoon game (why the fuck doesn't this already exist) (I have an elaborate system in my head that would include ethical collection and museum reputation as important factors)
prehistoric photo safari - you go back in time to different ecosystems and take pictures of various things you're asked to take pictures of, like "a pennaraptoran preening" or "a tyrannosaur family group" that kind of thing
an aviary zootycoon/planet zoo esque game - basically you're creating a zoo but it's only birds. I'm not bitter about planet zoo, no, whose asking.
or just another zoo simulator that's a better spiritual successor to zoo tycoon than planet zoo is, so it would include aquatic and extinct stuff like the zoo tycoons always did >_> also more birds
the same idea as above but now it includes fossil/extinct birds too, you're welcome
a game where you go back in time and gather prehistoric life and bring them back to the present and try to recreate extinct ecosystems, with an emphasis on ecosystem dynamics
similarly, an ecosystem simulator like tyto-ecology except... better. and still being developed. and mostly focused on extinct ecosystems.
a stardew-style farming game but you're ravens in a post-human world, creating a new society from scratch. as birds.
a bajillion different @saurian-game - like games set in different environments including the Manda Beds of the Triassic, the Jiufotang Formation of the Jurassic, literally anything other than the red beds of the Permian, Fossil Lake in the Eocene... the list goes on
domesticated Kulindadromeus sheephearder game (@paleopinesofficial you can just steal this idea and put it in your game, that's fine)
fossil stories - basically you live the life of different extinct animals based on their fossils, so dueling/fighting dinosaurs and stuff like that. it would be your basic choose your own adventure story type dealio.
a dinotopia video game. that's it. that's the entire concept. maybe something like simcity or the sims but in dinotopia. there's something there.
jewish themed stardew valley (this isn't dinosaur/bird or prehistoric life related, I'm just annoyed at the christonormativity in stardew [why does xmas exist in this alternate universe] and want to make a jewish version out of spite)
pet parrot simulator. mainly so that people who love parrots but really can't care for them can play the game. also so people who are thinking of getting a parrot can play the game and find out if they really can take care of one. I recognize pet simulators exist but they're never really accurate when it comes to parrot care.
I know I have more but these are the best ones. The ones I come back to the most are the museum tycoon game, the prehistoric photo safari game, and the redo of the magic school bus dino game; and @raptorcivilization is keeping the dream alive for the remake of the eyewitness game.

I want a reboot of the dinotopia universe. But not of karl and david, whose story was written for the mini series, but of the original characters from the books, arthur and will denison who arrived in dinotopia via shipwreck in the 1860s. Admittedly I've never read the books - I grew up on the 2002 three part series - and am only now learning about the different characters of the source material through wikipedia. But honestly it sounds pretty cool to have mcs from the 19th century, one of them a scientist, be stumbling upon fantasy dinosaur land. Or there could be completely new characters and stories, either way; Dinotopia has such an interesting world building, I feel like we could appreciate it more

"Hungry by nature, with no stomach for civilization"
What's the first thing you think of when you hear the word Dinotopia?
Tumblr media
If your answer is the 2002 miniseries coproduced by Hallmark and Disney, I would not blame you. For the uninitiated, Dinotopia is a series that takes place on an island where dinosaurs had managed to survive the KT event that ended the Mesozoic era. The island is surrounded by a deadly reef and a turbulent storm system, so it's remained hidden for generations. Over time, countless humans have shipwrecked on its shores with almost no hope of escape due to the impassable storms and reef.
Normally, this would spell doom for the survivors, but not in this case. The dinosaurs have evolved to essentially become sapient and have taken the humans under their wing. Together, humans and dinosaurs have managed to create Dinotopia, an idealistic society where conflict is essentially a thing of the past and most inhabitants have embraced the wonders of their enlightened civilization.
Well...most anyways.
Tumblr media
While most of the predatory dinosaurs were able to switch to either a vegetarian diet or subsist on fish, the bigger carnivores like Tyrannosaurus rex didn't make the transition to being civilized.
In the miniseries, this resulted them being depicted as bloodthirsty monsters that only want to devour humans and "good" Dinotopians.
The thing is though...their portrayal was radically different in the source material.
Tumblr media
Dinotopia was originally an art book series written and drawn by James Gurney, a plaeoartist in his own right. The plot of the first two books follows a lot of the same story beats as the original series. A duo find themselves on Dinotopia and have to learn how to fit in, while exploring the new world they found themselves in. I highly recommend them due to the fantastic artwork and a lot of the creativity gone into bringing the aforementioned setting to life.
Special mention goes in this case to the predatory dinosaurs who are handled...substationally different than they were in the mini-series.
Tumblr media
On paper, the basic similarities are there. The big carnivores live as their ancestors did compared to the civilized dinosaurs and will attack those who wander into their territory.
The difference here is how they're presented. Bix, a Protoceratops ambassador who befriends our heroes, explains that it's less the predators being monsters and more being...well, predators. They simply couldn't make the transition because their appetites and big bodies' high demand for meat are major roadblocks.
And they aren't above reasoning. Those who wish to venture into their territory of the Rainy Basin can offer huge piles of cooked fish and smoked eel for safe passage. The carnivores will accept the offering, and the travelers can proceed with no trouble.
While they certainly can be a threat, it doesn't mean they aren't above diplomacy. In fact, they turn out to be allies more often than not in the original trilogy. During the second book, The World Beneath, Arthur Denison (one of the shipwrecked heroes I mentioned) frees a young carnosaur from being trapped by a fallen tree.
Tumblr media
This turns out to be a huge boon for our heroes since they proceed to get menaced by a Tyrannosaurus shortly after...before a huge Giganotosaurus comes out of the trees and gets the tyrannosaur to back down, descalating the situation.
Tumblr media
This is Stinktooth, the overall leader of the Rainy Basin's carnosaurs and more importantly, the father of the juvenile Arthur freed. Stinktooth is grateful for the rescue of his son and permits the group safe passage to a sacred temple that the predators guard.
It's here we get a lot more development for them. As it turns out, the Rainy Basin does have a society of sorts where all predators adhere to the ruling of a leader. In this case, it's Stinktooth. They're also revealed to have a sense of duty since their initial hostility was due to the heroes trespassing on grounds they deemed sacred. Which in hindsight, they have a good reason given what comes out of the ruins that could threaten them all.
Tumblr media
This happens to be a strider, which the villainous Lee Crab tries to use to escape Dinotopia and potentially bring ruin to all. And here's where Stinktooth helps out again. He allows Arthur to ride on his back as he swims out to sea in pursuit of the strider so the machine can be powered down to keep Dinotopia safe.
Tumblr media
Overall, the dinosaurs of the Rainy Basin (Stinktooth in particular) prove that they can be reasonable and even heroic when the need arises.
Interestingly, the third book also shows they aren't the only ones since many other predators have found different ways to coexist with the Dinotopians. A species of red-faced Tyrannosaurs in the Blackwood Flats have learned to become obligate scavengers.
Tumblr media
And in the borders of Chandara, there exists several monasteries that are home to an order of carnivores (implied to be Acrocanthosaurs) that have learned to become shaolin monks.
Now I'm gonna repeat that cause it bears repeating.
Shaolin. Monk.
Acrocanthosaurs.
...if that is not one of the best ideas I've heard, I don't know what is.
It also shows how the original Dinotopia books tackled the topic of sentient carnivorous dinosaurs a bit better than the miniseries did. Which is one of the things that made them special due to the creativity needed to put all of these things together and build a believable and rich setting. Again, I highly recommend the original books for both the creativity and artwork, as well as Dinotopia Lost, a spin off novel by Alan Dean Foster that goes more into detail on the Rainy Basin, and features a pair of tyrannosaurs working with the heroes to save their offspring from a band of pirates.
...that might be worth its own post actually.

rewatching the Dinotopia 13-episode miniseries and just wanted to say I concur with a lot of your takes. Hopefully it's ok to infodump about it in your askbox?
26 is adorable and heart-stealing (as is Karl's love for her) and she still looks so lifelike even after 20 years since the show's airing--the combination of lower-tech puppetry and higher-tech animatronics just hits perfectly. I just want to hold her and carry her around and tickle her little head. I feel weird calling her 'lifelike' considering none of us have seen Chasmosaurs(sp?) in the flesh, but the way she blinks and shakes her head and squeals just feels authentic somehow?
'Contact' is one of my favourite episodes as well, as it legitimises this version of Karl who in earlier episodes risked coming across as trivial/annoying/shallow (I love this Karl fwiw, more than the previous 'better' series' take). The connection between Karl & Gracie is so touching and raw, and it seems like the most important thing that happened to Karl at that stage in his life, as well as a turning point in the way he relates to female peers. While I am a fan of Karl's himbo side, I appreciated seeing him finally show expertise and determination in something other than mixing drinks and flirting and wheeler-dealing, as well--after all, he's Frank's favourite son and an adventurer in his own right, why shouldn't he be capable? (we also saw his resourcefulness in 'Lose & Found').
As for Lesage, your thoughts about her past relationship with Rosemary really have me thinking as well. The reference to their fling was so fleeting that I missed it first time around, but it's definitely critical to understanding both their characters imo. Lesage definitely seems the free-spirited fiery rebellious type to run off with a woman to have sapphic adventures in the wild, even if it took said sapphic partner to bring that out of her (and it's SO interesting that Rosemary was *Lesage's* closet key). What would Dinotopia make of lesbians disrupting their natural order and their status quo? (upon which they rely for their coveted peace...) The mind reels. And I agree about the relief and pleasant surprise that this mature dark woman wasn't 'tamed' or domesticated in the storyline's conclusion, it would have been so banal if the series went that route. She clearly isn't the type who wants a traditional family, a secure home or a regular Joe older man with kids.
That said, I must confess to wanting Lesage coupled with David, as I've noticed that from their very first meeting there is deliberate tension and foreshadowing included to put them in a shippy light, and their personalities/chemistry really spark and pop off the screen more than any other pairing (probably why the actors/character got a 2-hander episode to themselves?). Also, in-keeping with 'Lesage does what she wants and breaks the mold', I think Lesage would LIVE for scandalising Dinotopia by taking their Skybax Squadron Commander/favourite Offworlder and seducing him. David for his part would go willingly I think, as he seems captivated and chagrined by Lesage, more than he is by Marion (who imo he *wants* to want and thinks he should want romantically/sexually, but deep down doesn't). David for his part clearly needs a challenge and a foil to get the most out of his life, and Lesage offers that in spades. Where are the fics is what I wanna know
Am still combing over a few of the episodes in more detail, but overall I enjoy it so much despite all the inaccuracies and how off-model and off-book it is, and for the time you can see how it broke some new ground. It's pacey, it's a good time, it's got a little bit of everything from drama to adventure to fantasy to anarchohistory/steampunk. The story and characters remind me of Xena in the way you can read them in a campy/fun way or a serious way, and it works either way. Idk why it isn't on streaming and remastered, though the selfish gatekeeping part of me is kind of glad it's not exposed like that..
Always ok!
I do wish we got more of 26 in The Cure Part 2 that wasn't plot-mandated immobility, because that small bit at the end of Part 1 where she's doing her little scamper around on modern sidewalks is such a cute and defining moment for the series and I would've loved to see her run around through crowds or make an escape through the museum. I'd say even her CGI is some of the best-looking now, probably because of working with an easier scale (although I feel like dated CGI is always going to look like dated CGI, and so try to judge it more on whether or not it emotionally connects, and 26 definitely does).
They say it like "Chasmiosaur" in the show but the dinosaur is spelled Chasmosaur/Chasmosaurus. It's real interesting that both the live-action and book versions of Dinotopia used lesser-known ceratopsians instead of the obvious triceratops.
Agreed on Karl, sketchy/sleazy relationship drama is SO not my thing and I'd say I was only tolerating it for the dinosaurs, but the way this show does it is just so over-the-top that I can't help but be at least a little entertained. Night of the Wartosa is fun to watch in an uncomfortable train wreck sense, because we see Karl at his worst and it's so agonizing, but at the end of the day it's self-aware, it's intended as a wake-up call, and we're meant to be rooting for him to become a better person and laughing at him along the way. And by Contact, we're shown he can be serious when it counts, and his story takes a deeper turn into the heartfelt that solidifies his arc.
Since it's Hallmark, I'm sure they'd find a way to make even the dinosaurs scandalized by anything non-straight. "Why yes, our ancient society founded primarily by non-humans, with its own code of conduct distinct from other world philosophies, has the same puritan sensibilities as early 2000s daytime television." I guess there's a small chance the show actually did mean they only considered themselves sisters, and that very obvious pause didn't mean anything at all, I guess we'll never know *shrug* (but since it was a show cancelled after one season, I'm gonna say that from the 2020s we can go ahead and retroactively assume it must've had lesbians).
Freely admit that if I didn't pick up on anything hinting LeSage/David, it's probably because I only really have shipping goggles for f/f relationships, and also carry around the associated 'just friends' goggles for what are often clearly intended het pairings. To each their own, I suppose, and to both of us, the tragedy of liking a piece of media that very few people have ever seen, and even fewer have seen in any way that made them think of it positively. Highly doubt the internet 20 years after the fact would have much appreciation for my 'LeSage x pachycephalosaurus chariot driver OC' daydream musings but you can bet that's probably what I'm thinking about every time I hear "Fast Car."
Oh, if this show was on streaming, people would expect WAY too much from it. It's in the backwoods of Youtube and on cheap DVDs, and I feel like that's it's natural habitat. I can only really imagine people truly liking this if it's a formative memory, they found it in some obscure corner on a rainy day and gave it a chance only half-seriously, or the rare case where they wanted to watch a dinosaur show enough to turn it on but were secretly looking for... this. It's such a fun time, but I feel like for most, you'd need to know what you're in for or it just won't click.

Dinosaur Season
I’m so glad you guys enjoy my Dinosaur sky art! ^_^ A bit surprised how much attention they’ve gotten!
I saw in some comments/tags of ideas for a Dinosaur season. News flash! I also had ideas for one, tho some of stuff looks kind of similar to Season of Abyss. (Clarifying that I don’t think TGC took the designs or whatever, I never publicly posted these, so it’s just pure coincidence.)
Luckily I got my poor, poor laptop to boot up so I can transfer the art here. Just a heads up most of these are just sketches, getting a feel for the idea. If I worked on it now I’d probably change a few things, but I don’t have the time -_-‘ Unfortunately most of the brainstorming was done in DM with one of my friends almost 2 years ago, I’ll try to piece together what I can from it and try to update it with the current lore
Heads up it’s very wordy. (Also sorry for the varying quality of the images)
So when I started brainstorming this Sky was in between The Little Prince and the beginning of Season of Flight. So some of the story from the Season of Flight is connected to this Fan Season. I could never figure out a name that stuck, I just called it Season of Rediscovery. It’s heavily inspired by James Gurney’s “Dinotopia”, if you haven’t read it just look up some of the art it’s beautiful.
Similar to Season of Prophecy, the entrance is a cave that had recently been unblocked. I don’t have a great idea about what realm it would be held in. The entrance cave is big but has an opening on the top that let’s sunlight in. In the middle of cave is a steep drop where the Season is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Based on the Son Doong Cave, it’s a cave with its own ecosystem. (And it’s own light creatures ;) ) I realized too late that it’s similar to the one area in the Hidden Forest, but I love it too much now so. The main peak in the middle is speckled with Gingko like trees, with a kind of heavy mist wrapping around it. A shallow lake surrounds the main peak, save for a skinny path that curves left into a darker section.
Tumblr media
Glowworm cave is a dark cave filled with an array of lights produced by the Glowworms that inhabit it. I’ve thought about how it would affect people with light sensitivity and epilepsy. The lights don’t flicker but slowly pulse and aren’t too bright. I think it would be similar to the meditation room from Season of Aurora. It would be like a quiet get away for anyone who needs it, honks are muted and there’s a soft tune that plays.
On the other side of the opening, past the shallow lake is an expanse of rolling grassland, with posts that hang an arrangement of flags that follow a well worn path that leads to the city/town. This is where my favorite spirit is located.
Tumblr media
Cloud gazing Shepard!
He’s the Shepard of a herd of Diablocertops, it’s not a big herd but a good size. He takes this herd out to the field area near the entrance where the sun comes through at the top of the cave. And they sit on this one rock almost every day, he takes this herd out just to look at whatever clouds pass by the opening at the top or the ones that form around the mountain at the base of this cave.
Tumblr media
Sadly they are the only spirit I have a basic design of, which sucks cause there’s another spirit with a cute short story with them. So I’ll just put that blurb here.
Meticulous Artist- “ Coincidentally another spirit seems to come to the same field at the same time as them, carrying an easel, paints, and a canvas. The Shepard didn’t think much of it since it seems they’re painting the same scene he’s looking at. But one day when The Shepard decides to take a nap, they get tapped on the shoulder by the Painter Spirit holding the canvas that they’ve been lugging out there almost everyday. And it’s a painting of him staring at the clouds without a care in the world”
Since I only have my Shepard boy to show I’ll tell what the story is for all the spirits. So the spirits that live in this city/cave are all families that realized what was happening, leaving in search of someplace safe. (This was way before Season of Remembrance or Aurora came out so this whole war thing was based on the theories and hints from other seasons.) As the war went on any soldier or civilians mortally wounded, and any spirit seeking shelter would be given passage to this settlement. A good few have prosthetic limbs ex. Cloud gazing Shepard and Meticulous Artist, and a large number of the other spirits are young, (either too young to fight or basically dodged the draft) too old to fight or sick. It’s unsure how long they’ve been settled but they do have access to trading.
If you notice on the Diabloceratops from earlier it has a bell similar to the Chimesmith from Season of Flight. I’d like to believe there’s stacks of documents, covered in dust, in the Chimesmith’s area, and maybe some in the other spirits too, that are trading papers and such from this town. But every document doesn’t state where this town is because “who wouldn’t know about them. No need to write where they’re at” a real “Land of Punt” situation.
Your Sky kid arrives to the city, it’s dressed in decorations and lights, the quests that are given are related to preparations for a celebration of the city. You help the Shepard with dressing the dinosaurs for the parade, help the Artist in charge of the decorations, and help the Outgoing musician compose for the Dance. An outlier spirit is the Excitable Youngster, a kid just so excited for the festival. Towards the end of the Season it’s revealed why the path to this city was blocked. In an effort to keep the darkness from spreading, they sealed off the entrances and ultimately trapping themselves inside as well.
Mask designs, Nasutoceratops belongs to the Musician and the Carnotaurus is most likely an Ultimate. There’s a Parasaurolophus mask but I lost it :(, it would belong to the Youngster.

The masks are based on Opalized fossils. Nasutoceratops is Opal and Carnotaurus is Amber. The Parasaurolophus was like a Lapis Lazuli. They are sadly unfinished.
(Ignore the duck mask, I was using it as reference XD)

The Musician’s instrument(s) are Ringing Rocks, a special rock that rings when hit with a hammer. This is the stage, positioned in the middle of a city plaza like area. No clue if it could be an instrument for Sky kids haul around, but it could be an interactive thing like the Sanctuary bells.
Tumblr media
This is a good example of the ringing rocks for music. Heads up, It’s a little loud. Music starts at 1:14.
A doodle of the parade, featuring Olorotitan. (Rip quality)

Sorry there’s not a lot of art with it, and it’s mainly just text but I wanted to share it. Any questions about it, I’d love to answer or critiques work too. This was just for fun anyway.

serge the post about white men starting a podcast does not apply to you btw.... 100% ready to hear your dinosaur movie podcast asap if that's something you would ever wanna do
In essence, that’s exactly what the Saurian Cinema series is supposed to be! I just don’t have the time to produce more than one or two new episodes a year. For what it’s worth, I want the next two episodes to be about (1) cryptozoology films, and (2) my pitch for a new Dinotopia franchise.

🦕 Dinotopia: A Land Apart From Time by James Gurney
“Breathe deep. Seek peace.”
This book is amazing. James Gurney writes and illustrates it in its whole 160-pages of glory. The story of a man and his son who get shipwrecked on an island known as Dinotopia, where dinosaurs and humans live peacefully and respectfully together.
Not only is James Gurney one of my FAVORITE artists, but the first Dinotopia book is filled with so much curiosity, love, and search for peace. Of course my favorite character was Bix, the ambassador/translator Protoceratops. She was so fun and knowledgeable, the perfect guide for Arthur and Will.
Full of wisdom, breathtaking art, and an adventurous story, Dinotopia is one of my new comfort books.

Look guys. I hear what you're all screaming. "Mary, why is it that when we talk about magical beings we only do so in the context of human history?" "Mary, it's has been 28 long, painful years since the last Dinotopia book." "Mary, WHAT ABOUT THE DINOSAURS!" And I hear you. I'm here for you. I'm holding your hand through what I can only call the great dinosaur depression.
It's time to get proactive. The FAKE NEWS media might say people aren't "interested in dinosaur fantasy" that isn't filled with motorcycle raptors sucking off Chris Pratt, but we know differently. I'm here to say that I will PROUDLY stand up and create stupid, far-fetched reasons that will allow me to make magical dinosaur beasts and insert them into what was once a grounded fantasy world about witches.
Who is with me?!?!?!
