hes so yucky coded...
HI. not a hazbin fan myself HOWEVER I am the Character Redesigner and I've wanted to redesign alastor FOREVER..... notes under the cut
gave him a dried blood/liver colour scheme
bone coloured accents to really lean into his theme and make him visually different from other characters
antlers more noticeable!!! they'd still grow when he gets Scary
really played into the idea of him being a carnivorous deer, that idea was so cool and I wish it was explored more visually
his staff is more recognisable as a radio device!! specifically an old fashioned one
kept the pinstripes in his original design but moved them to the pants
his bow tie is distinct from the rest of that area of his design!! in his original design it really gets lost in all the patterns and similar colours I feel
made him REALLY tall. like 7-8ft because its fun and scary
gave him glasses and not just a monocle. I think it suits him and the red lenses are more noticeable now!!

I look forward to more people discovering just how impactful what Jodie Whittaker did as the 13th doctor was.
To me, she ran her own marathon at a sprint, breaking down boundaries without so much as a word for those who had put them in place.
And she seemingly did it all with joy, and respect, and kindness (jfc if you ever get the chance to meet her she is so kind I cannot put it into words).
She is an incredible ambassador for the ability of representation to inspire, to recognise, to reconfigure (dare i say also to regenerate lol).

You know, for a show with so many female characters that so many of us love given how they all get time in the spotlight one way or another and they fill that time up rather wonderfully since they are deeper and more developed than what we're used to seeing in general media, it is peculiar (to say the least) to see so few "alternative" ships to the main one.
I'm not saying the canon ship doesn't deserve its attention -- I'm wondering instead why the canon ship and it alone seem to guide the WN fans who just so happen to enjoy writing/reading fic or fanart or whatever.
You'd think all these cool women would inspire more ships or combinations thereof, but those of us who aren't invested in avatrice just... Float along, around one another, ignored (and, yes, mostly undisturbed too; being unpopular does have its advantages and that includes a lot less weirdos leaving you strange or awkward messages -- it does not, however, shield us from people flooding our goddamn tags on AO3 with fic that has nothing to do with our little ships and I do wish such negligence of the pairing itself meant we didn't have to deal with this spam...)
I am also not saying that fandom activity should be based solely on shipping (and recently someone on Reddit was rather confused by the fact that a lot of it is, which is quite an interesting topic to discuss in itself -- after all, there is more to fan creativity than shippy fic... Or there used to be), merely that, here, it appears that a canon relationship can outshine interest in the other, non-canon ones. It's already there and it was doubtless well-done by the show, so it's natural that it should claim people's attention, sure. It's just that being canon was never the parameter for whether people were interested in these or those two (or more) characters maybe being involved and trying to explore what that could mean through fanwork.
There has always been a complaint haunting fandom spaces concerning the minuscule amounts of f/f fic, art, discussion, w/e based on how few (interesting or sympathetic or relatable) female characters there are in media at large. So what I'm curious about is why fan creations made around WN -- a show that finally gives us a whole cast of female characters that are what we have been craving for decades -- don't also reflect its diversity.
There are alternative ships (I'm here, all happy in my tiny Doctor Superion bubble, and I know there are Camila/Lilith, Ava/Lilith, Mary/Shannon, Mary/Lilith shippers out there, so a warm hello to you if you're reading this), but go on AO3 and compare the numbers of things tagged with these proper pairings to the grand total of WN stories. Better (or worse) still, do so with the "otp: true" trick or simply by excluding avatrice from the search to see how many are left.
It's... A considerable difference. And a mystery, at least to me.

Criminally Underused Bird Nicknames for Jaskier
I love "Lark" as much as the next Witcher fic reader, but there are so many more options we could explore! Here are a few:
Jay / Bluejay
This one has excellent potential because 1) jays are incredibly beautiful, colorful, intelligent, and social and 2) their songs are terrible. (Examples here, here, and here.) As such, it'd be perfect for a fond-yet-teasing nickname for Jaskier. Plus, it sounds like the first letter of his name!
Magpie
Magpies are corvids like jays, so they're similar in many ways. This one has the extra connotations of collecting shiny things for bonus fun teasing <3
Sparrow
Sparrows have lovely songs! They tend not to be very colorful, but they're very cute and the name sounds endearing. I've seen this one used in fic occasionally and I like it!
Sanderling
Sanderling is an adorable name for an adorable bird -- they're little sandpipers that run around on beaches! It works perfectly as a reference to Jaskier's role as the Sandpiper and I think it's really sweet.
Peep
Peep is a general term for the smallest few species of sandpipers (they're hard to identify at the species level, so calling them peeps is most convenient). It's similar to Sanderling in that it references Jaskier's role as the Sandpiper and sounds adorable!
Bonus: Songbird
I have seen this one used in a few fics and I love it every time! It's vague enough to let you imagine whichever bird you want while also sounding very sweet.
Extra options include, but are not limited to: warbler, finch/goldfinch, nightengale, robin, kinglet, titmouse, mockingbird, and starling.

Spoilers for the end of TAZ: Balance
Okay, I'm sure somebody else has made this post before but I need to talk about Griffin in the taz graphic novels. Because like, that's Griffin, obviously but also when we get to the finale and the tres horny boys are on the Rockport Limited, I don't think they're gonna meet Jeffandrew, I think they're gonna talk to Griffin, the GM who's been guiding them this entire time.
[Image description/transcript: Screenshot of The Adventure Zone: The Suffering Game graphic novel.
Taako: GM!
Griffin: I mean, clearly it isn't [referring to refresh being a real spell or not] But, also I've completely lost control of this world, so I'm willing to let it slide.
Merle: Huzzah!]
I think the fact he mentions that he's lost control of the world in this arc, which takes place within like, 24 hours of the Hunger appearing is interesting.
I don't really have a lot of other stuff to add other than I had noticed how Griffin only appears in the graphic novels after the boys have left the base and always disappears before they get back, but The Suffering Game breaks that pattern, as we saw from the preview. Idk if it means anything in particular, but it's a detail I've notice and I feel smart about. Maybe I'm looking too far into the Watsonian reason why Griffin gives commentary and snark, but regardless, I'm really looking forward to the Suffering Game when it comes out!

There seems to be a trend on DogTok to demonize and regard rescue dogs as trash not worth saving or rehabilitating and just flat out demonizing no kill shelters and rescues with little nuance. I'm sorry that abused dogs who are traumatized and stressed aren't the 2k purebred puppy that you saw on Craigslist but the majority of shelter dogs deserve a chance at a good life even if you personally would never give them the time of day.
