Mini Fanfic #1154: Homecoming (SSBU X Wario Ware x Persona 5)

10:16 a.m. at Diamond City's La Glorious Cruise Boat........

Ashley: (Let's Out a Sigh While Standing Next to Lucason the Tip of the Cruise) Well, that vaction was.....certainly something to remember.

Lucas: Tell me about it. I still can't believe Wario sacrificed himself to save the entire island.

Ashley: I can somewhat believe that. Considering all the crazy adventures he keeps getting himself roped in, I wouldn't be too surprised if he find some way to get out it. Eventually.

Lucas: ('Sigh') That's true. I hope he won't get too lonely by then.....Or at least get cranky enough to blow a literal casket.

Ashley: (Casually Shrugs) Better a casket than the lower area of the body.

Lucas: (Chuckles a Bit) Yeah.

'A Bit of Silence'

Lucas: Hey, Ashley?

Ashley: Hm?

Lucas: (Rubbing the Back of his Head Back and Forth with a Soft, Bit of a Sheepish Smile on his Face) I-I know you guys are already gotten tired of me saying this, but I really can't thank you all enough for inviting me along on this trip. It was really fun.

Ashley: (Giggles a Bit) Honestly, Lucas, that's like what? The fourth or fifth time you thanked us? There's really no need for you keep doing that. (Hugs her Boyfriend Lovingly) All that matter to us is that you had yourself a good time out of all of it.

Lucas: (Heart Begins to Melt in Genuine Happiness as He Hugs his Ashley Back) Thank you~

Ashley: (Puts on a Fake Pouty Look on her Face)

Lucas: (Giggles Softly) T-This the time last time I'm saying that, i promise!~

Ashley: (Playfully Raises an Eyebrow at Lucas) Hmm....I'll take your word for it, IF....(Forms a Smirk on her Face) You promise to join us on future trips going forward. (Smiles Brightly) AND you gimme a kiss~

Lucas was about to say something until the sound of laughter is heard behind by none other than their science geek of a friend, Penny.

Penny: Gosh, Ashley!~ (Forms a Teasing Smirk on her Face) I didn't take you for the kind of gal to make exchange for a simple kiss~ You little goober~

Ashley: (Groans Before Bashfully Glaring at Penny) P-Penny, you nosy know-it-all, it wasn't like that at all!! (Starts Turning Away While Waving her Hair Back) I just....wanted to make sure he fulfill his promise is all.....

Penny: By having him offer you a kissy-kiss?~

Ashley: I WILL HEX YOU!!

Lucas: (Giggles Some More) Ashley, it's okay!~ I don't mind giving you a kiss if you wanted one.

Ashley: (Eyes Widened For a Brief Second Before Blushing Some More and Turning Away Again) I-I do, but.....(Turns Back to Lucas) Would you still like to join us on future trips next time?

Lucas: (Gives Ashley a Kiss on the Cheek Before Giving her a Bright Smile) I'd love too.

Ashley: (Heart Starts to Melt as She Hugs Lucas Again)

The duo turns to see everyone else on the boat staring and gushing at this adorable display, causing Ashley even headache.

Ashley: (Glares at Everyone Else Present) Do you people not know the concept of privacy anymore!?

Everyone starts chuckling lghtly as they go back to their own activities.

Ashley: ('Sigh') Anyways, Penny, any reason why you came here to meet us? Besides being annoying.....

Penny: (Pouts at Ashlely Oh come on, I'm not THAT bad to deal with!

Ashley: I highly doubt it.

Penny: Yeah, well, doubtfulness could only lead you so far. But to answer your question, I'm here to give your Romeo his phone. (Pulls Out Lucas' Phone Out of her Lab Coat Pocket) It's fully charged and ready to go for three and a half whole days!~

Lucas: (Struck in Awe as Receives his Phone By From Penny) Woah....Your charger really IS more powerful than mines.... Thanks, Penny! (Turns his Phone On Only to Frown a Bit to See That They're No Text Messages Received) Hm....

Penny: Your pals still haven't text back yet?

Lucas: ('Sigh') No, not yet. Maybe they're still asleep? Or stuck in traffic? (Eyes Starts to Widened in Complete Panic and Worry) They're not involved in an accident of some kind, are they!?

Ashley: I wouldn't worry too much if I were you, Lucas. Look.

Ashley points Lucas and Penny to everyone of their friends standing on the docks with a "Welcome Back♡!~" sign above their heads, waving at them at an upcoming distance.

Lucas: (Genuinely Surprised at What He's Looking At) No way......Is that really them?

Penny: (Taps on the Top Side of her Glasses and Uses Them as a Highly Technical Binoculars) Hmmm......Yep. No doubt about it. And it looks like that lady in the pigtails is waving a flag over there with your name on it.

Lucas: (Giggles Softly) That's Big Sis Ann!~ She can be really silly sometimes.

Ashley: In more ways than one.

Meanwhile (And Minutes Later) at the Docks..........

Shiho: (Turns to her Girlfriend Who's Still Wavong the Flag Around) Ann, you've been waving that thing for an hour now, you sure you're not tad bit worn out there?

Ann: Nope! Didn't spent all night making this flag and sign and building up more of my arm muscles to up and quit now! Not until I see my Little Sunflower walkong out that boat

The duo amd the others turns to see Lucas and Ashley happily waving at them as the boat starts to park right beside the dock they're standing on.

Kids: Ashley!~ Lucas!~

Ann: MY BABY!~ (Turns to her Girlfriend to Hand her the Flag) Shiho-Kins, you mind holding this for me? Thanks! (Rushes Over to her Little Sunflower) I'M COMING, LUCAS!~

Shiho: ('Sigh') Okay.

Lucas: (Rushes Out of the Boat While Happily Extending his Arms Out) Big Sis Ann, I'm finally back!~ (Rushes Over to Ann)

Ann: I know!~ Welcome back!~ (Happily Picks Lucas Up and Twirls Him.and Herself Around a Little Before Hugging Him) You have NO IDEA how much I missed you these past few weeks!~

Shiho: (Walks Over to the Duo Along with the Others) It's true. Poor girl's been moping about you all day here. It was cute for a while.

Penny: (Walks Out of the Boat Along with her Co-Workers) Helloooooo, Diamond City!~ Been a long while, but we're back!~

Ashley: (Puts Down a Red Duffle Bag She Was Carrying with Her) We got a bunch of souvenirs in this bag if anyone wants any.

The Smash Kids cheers in rejoice as they over and see what they're inevitably get inside.

Penny: (Walks Over Ann and Lucas) Soo you must be the silly lady Lucas mentioned.

Ann: Why, yes I- (Eyes Starts to Widen) Wait. (Starts Pouting at Lucas Beside Her) Silly!?

Lucas: (Shrugs Sheepishly) W-What can I ask say?~ You do have your moments from time-to-time.

Ann: The heck I do! (Turns Away) I'll have you know that I am the most ladylike young woman in all Shiyuba thank you very much.

Ashley: For the most part. It was hectic on a few areas, but it was still nice experience nonetheless. How have you guys been since we were gone?

Ness: Pretty good. Less rowdy without you two around that's for sure. (Grabs his Chin) Although, that might be due to the fact we were too busy getting ourselves ready for our next family trip coming up.

Lucas: (Turns to Ness) Trip?

Ann: (Cease her Kisses as Her Eyes Starts Widening Again in Realization) Oh right! Lucas, we gotta pack our bags later on today. We're going to New Donk City.

Lucas: (Eyes Widened in Genuine Surprise) For Christmas?

Ann: (Smiles Brightly) For the rest of December! Until New Years Day I think?

Ness: Yeah, Mayor Pauline invited the whole Smash Family to come along. Apparently it was all planned out from the very start of the year I think.

Ashley: Is that right? Guess our trip adventures continues onwards then, not that I'm complaining.

Penny: You guys to get stay there AND see Pauline for a whole month? (Starts Pouting a Bit) Lucky.....

Ashley: (Turns to Penny) You're welcome to come along with us if you want.

Shiho: Yeah, we could convonce Mario and them to agree. The more the merrier.

Penny: (Smiles Softly) Thanks, guys, but I promised grandpa that I would help him and the bots with a few unfinished projects back in the lab, so I'll have to decline the offer. But do you think you could do be a huuuge solid and record a video of Pauline performing in any way for me, Ash?

Ashley: Sure. I'll also find you a Christmas gift While I'm at all. For the holidays and whatnot

Penny: (Heart Begins to Melt in Pure Happiness) Ashley~ (Gives Ashley a Loving Hug) You sweetheart!~ I'll get gifts for you and Lucas for sure, I promise!~

Ashley: Don't really habe to do that, but.....(Starts Blushing) T-Thanks anyways.....

Shiho: Hey has anyone seen Wario around here?

Ann: Yeah, I don't think I see walked out of that boat now that I think about it.

Lucas: Okay. Uh.....Sort of Funny Story here, but.....a lot has happened during our time at the Island and Wario-

A burning fireball suddenly came falling and crashing down on the middle of the docks, much to everyone's surprise and shock. They look down and see Wario planted face down on the top of the water covered in scorch and smoke.

Ashley: Is now here apparently......

Penny: Wario, gurgle more than one time for us if you're still alive!

Wario starts gurgling in pain as he slowly starts sinking down under the lake.

Penny: Well, at least he's not dead yet.

Ashley: ('Sigh') As expected.

Passaram por uma cortina de fumaça para, então, se depararem com Mark Lee e Wong Yukhei com cigarros na mão. O cheiro forte de maconha fez sua cabeça doer de levinho, mas você sorriu feliz ao ver os amigos.

"Ih, alá! Se liga em quem apareceu", Yukhei sorriu já abrindo os braços. Você não demorou muito para cumprimentá-lo, logo após Mark.

"Até parece que a gente ia perder", você respondeu rolando as órbitas afetuosamente. Observou Jennie murmurar um 'chega pra lá' para Wong e pegar o cigarro de sua mão, Nayeon já pegava o copo de Mark enquanto ele enchia um novo para si.

"Papo reto, essa festa 'tava um porre antes de vocês chegarem", Lee exclamou descendo o álcool no copinho vermelho que segurava. Você segurou a risada quando Jennie se pronunciou divertida:

"Tá todo galante por quê, hein, Marquinhos? A Nayeon não vai dormir contigo não, desencana!"

"Ah, Jennie, vai pra porra!", eles responderam juntos rindo.

Você se dispersou um pouco, procurando seu namorado. Qualquer vestígio dos cabelos desarrumados ou dos olhinhos pretinhos que você tanto ama, encontrou quase todos ali, menos ele. Jaehyun pegando alguma menina do segundo semestre, Yuta e Shotaro jogavam alguma variação de strip poker com alguns garotos e garotas, Jeno e Jaemin conversando mais calmamente e até acenaram quando te viram. O fez de volta.

"Tá procurando o Hycuk?", Yukhei indagou com um sorrisinho sacana. Te conhecia bem, na verdade, você não fazia muita questão de esconder. Jennie e Nayeon riam do seu jeitinho 'despretensioso' ao procurá-lo por aquelas cabeças adultas.

"Tô, sabe onde ele tá?"

"Por favor, diz logo pra ela antes que essa coitada exploda", Nayeon zombou. Você mostrou o dedo do meio pra ela em retorno. "Te amo amiga!"

"Ama nada, sua traíra", você murmurou brincalhona quando Mark chamou sua atenção apontando pro lado de fora. O copo na boca, no entanto, te fez grunhir. Não estava sendo muito claro.

"Tá jogando beer pong com uns caras do Bangtan, vai lá que 'cê encontra ele", o seu amigo continuou generoso. Você, animadinha, arrumou sua saia e jogou sua bolsa pra Jennie.

"Vai lá, gatinha, mas fica com o celular e manda mensagem se for ficar", ela avisou te devolvendo o aparelho e você praticamente correu pra fora.

O motivo de não tê-lo visto foi porque a mesa ficava basicamente afastada, bem pertinho da piscina, mas lá estava ele. Em toda sua glória. O Lee portava uma roupa bem mais simples do que estava acostumada, o que te indicava que os meninos, provavelmente, tiveram de arrastá-lo da cama para tal festa. A camiseta preta combinava perfeitamente com a correntinha de prata que ele usava, um presente seu.

Mal pôde conter o sorriso ao se aproximar do homem, mirando distraidamente uma bolinha de ping pong em um dos copos antes que seus amigos abrissem caminho para que você o surpreendesse. Cutucando brevemente seu ombro, esperou que o menino se virasse para que pudesse se perder na imensidade escura que eram suas irises. Você nem se preocupou em segurar o risinho divertido que escapou de seus lábios ao ver o sorrisinho sacana e preguiçoso no rosto de seu namorado se formando.

"Princesa", ele chamou abrindo os bracinhos. O jogo já havia sido esquecido quando você pulou nos braços dele para que trocassem um beijo demorado.

Mataram toda a saudade naquilo. Suas línguas dançavam indolentes, esquecendo-se rapidamente do público ao redor. "Hm, bom mesmo", o rapaz respondeu de volta te juntando a ele. Sua mão lhe puxando para perto por suas nádegas te fez soltar um riso estrangulado enquanto batia nos braços dele. "Fica quietinha aí enquanto eu abro, vai."

Você ofegou abrindo a boca em um perfeito 'O', em falso choque com a audácia de seu namorado.

"Que audácia é essa, Donghyuck?", você indagou risonha. O namorado revirava o molinho de chaves na mão irritadiço com a demora, você não pôde evitar de ver graça no menino. Sem se aguentar, você grudou os lábios no pescoço do moreno deixando sua trilha de beijinhos e mordidas ali. "Você tá tão lindinho hoje."

"So close! Try again!" You giggled as Gareth missed for what had to be the 100th time.

It was lunch, and Gareth had been trying to throw a tater-tot in your mouth the entire time. The rest of the table was audibly groaning, and Mike had a very readable look of disgust on his face.

"Are you sure they're not dating and just very, very bad at hiding it?" Dustin whispered to Eddie.

"Sadly, I'm sure. "

"Are we gonna do anything about it?" Lucas questioned.

"Please do something, I don't think I can watch this for much longer without vomiting," Mike muttered.

"You're right. Freshmen, it's time to get the childhood best friends together once and for all." Eddie smirked.

“God they’re such a cliché,”

The boys spent the rest of the week trying to get you and Gareth together, like sticking notes in you or Gareth’s lockers (turns out you two already did that) and saying it was from the other or making comments whenever Gareth called you a pet name.

“What's up buttercup?”

“Buttercup? Doesn’t that sound like something a boyfriend would call a girlfriend?”

“Shut up Lucas.”

It got to the point where Eddie even got your friends outside of Hellfire involved.

“Look, Y/n, all I’m saying is I see the way he looks at you. And c’mon, he calls you stuff like “Honeysuckle” and “Lovebug” Isn’t it obvious?”

“Since when have you been one to play matchmaker Alex?”

“Whatever. Just saying.”

None of their tactics were working, so by the end of the week, the boys devised a much more straightforward plan.

You worked at the local arcade, right next to family video.

Just before your shift ended, a familiar boy ran in, out of breath.

"Wheeler? Did you run all the way here?" You chuckled.

"L/n! Uhh, yes actually. Last minute change. There's a hellfire campaign starting tonight that we need you to sub for because Lucas had a last-minute basketball thing. It starts at 8 pm." Mike practically wheezed, still out of breath.

" ’Kay, I’ll be there. But you realize you could've just called right-?"

"...Shit."

You walked up to the clubroom, only to see a giddy Eddie, Dustin, Mike, and Lucas waiting outside the room.

"Hi! Are we supposed to go into the clubroom or..?" You questioned, feeling as though something was off.

"It's a common tradition that the Dungeon Master enters the room last." Dustin quickly explained.

"Well, then why are you guys out here-?"

"Eddie gets lonely out here," Lucas said, patting Eddie on the shoulder. "So we wait with him."

"Yep," Eddie said through gritted teeth.

"Lucas? Wait if you're here who am I subbing for?"

"Just get in the room." Mike practically screamed, before pushing you in.

You stumbled into the room, which as far as you knew was not set up for a DnD game. There were light candles, dim lighting, rose petals sprinkled on the table and floor, and... Gareth.

"Helloo?" You awkwardly asked more than said, which made Gareth jump.

"Oh hey!" he waved before his eyes widened. "I-I see how this might look, and I promise I didn't set any of this up. Mike shoved me in here and locked the door. I mean we're just best friends! Nothing romantic." Gareth quickly explained, his voice uneasy.

“Oh yeah. O-of course.”

Soon you heard the door click and realized you’d both been locked in.

“ L/n, Gareth has something to tell you. Something verryyy important.” Eddie shouted, emphasizing the word very.

You quickly turned to Gareth, whose face was bright red. “I-I don’t know what Eddie’s talking about.” He stuttered out before practically running to the door and banging on it.

"What the fuck are you doing Munson?"

“Sorry Gareth, this doors not unlocking until you tell L/n what's been bugging youuu.” Eddie said in a sing-song tone. “Oh, and I'm sure L/n'll have something pleasant to say about it. Now I’m taking the freshmen for a drive, by the time we get back you better have told each other what you need to.”

Gareth groaned and fell against the door as you both heard footsteps walking away. There were a few minutes of comfortable silence as you walked around the clubroom and Gareth just sat by the door with his head in his hands.

As much as you didn’t want to admit it, your heart was beating a mile a minute. You and Gareth had been best friends since you were both six when he was trying to skateboard and nearly crashed into you while you were biking.

“Watch it, nerd!”

“Sorry, princess.”

“I’m not a princess, nerd.”

“Oh yeah? Then what are you and why are you riding a pretty pink bike?”

“I’m Y/n L/n. And this is a hand-me-down from my sister.”

“ I’m Gareth Emerson. I got this skateboard for Christmas.”

"Well you need to keep practicing buddy."

"I bet I'm better than you!"

"Let me see the skateboard, nerd."

You couldn't help but smile to yourself while thinking of the day you two met, and other childhood memories. When you skipped school to goof off at the arcade, all the sleepovers, or that one time you slipped down a muddy trench during an especially rainy spring and Gareth found you in the pouring rain and helped you home. You figured that was the day you fell in love. Your parents didn’t even notice you were gone.

You'd been zoned out for who knows how long, trapped in the clubroom for even longer.

“Helllooo? Princess?” Gareth’s voice was soft, snapping you out of your thoughts.

“Augh, I told you to stop calling me that.” You rolled your eyes.

“Did you even hear what I said?”

“Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention.”

“I asked why your smile is so pretty,” he said matter of factly like there was no doubt about it.

“W-what?” You stuttered, his sudden complement catching you off guard.

“Why is your smile so pretty?” Gareth tilted his head like a dog while giving you puppy dog eyes. God that man was the human embodiment of a golden retriever.

The most you could do was shrug before burying your head in your hands, afraid you were blushing.

“I’m sorry.” Gareth’s voice was barely a whisper, so quiet you were surprised you even heard it.

You looked up to see Gareth shaking his head, looking away from you and off to the side.

“Sorry for what?”

“Everything.”

You frowned and walked over to him, sitting down beside him.

“Well, what’s everything?”

“All this.” He motioned to the room. “Promise?”

You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. “Promise what?”

“You’ll still want to be my friend after this? After the shocking news I'm about to reveal?”

You giggled and nodded. “I’ll never not want to be your friend Gareth Emerson. Promise”

“Okay, good cause I’ve like… had the biggest crush on you since we were eight.” When the words were out of his mouth, Gareth brace himself as if he was expecting something catastrophic to happen, or you to slap him.

Instead, you smiled and cupped his face in your hands.

“Can I kiss you?”

Gareth nodded, his face turning a light shade of pink.

You softly pressed your lips against his, and he moved you closer.

Close. This was as close as you'd ever gotten. And as close as you wanted to be, yet still not enough.

Gareth pulled away, a big goofy grin on his face.

“Well, you have me beat Emerson.” You giggled.

“Hm?”

“I think I’ve had a crush on you since the trench incident which was when we were…” you trailed off, trying to remember the exact age.

“Ten.” Gareth quickly finished the sentence for you.

“Yeah, yeah ten.”

“So that means I win by two years.” He smugly declared.

You rolled your eyes with a grin and shook your head.

“Can I sit in your lap?”

Gareth acted like he was thinking about it for a moment. “Sorry, lap privileges are reserved for my gorgeous girlfriend.” He teased.

You pouted, crossing your arms.

“I could be your girlfriend.”

“I’d love that.”

“...Can I sit in your lap now?”

Gareth chuckled, before patting his lap and putting his arms out. “Come here honeysuckle.”
