American singer-songwriter; notable for the song “Let Me Go” from the album “ProfitandLoss.” In an interview, Nerdkween mentioned, “I’m 5 feet 4 inches.”
Using my radio gives me my signature sound which I can describe it as "found sound" I guess the visual equivalent would be found art. I play around with mixing musical styles and the noisy element of radio adds another layer.
This radio is the 3rd I've played with and had longest I've had thus far. It will be hard to replace in this day and age.
I'm a huge fan of Nerdkween. Really great music, and a really cool asthetic. So I'm very happy to see that a video she's been working on for awhile has finally debuted. It's awesome.
I am so in love with Nerdkween and this song is a perfect example of why - such a beautiful voice and lovely heartfelt music played against the background sounds of the 2nd Presidential Debate between Obama and Cain in 2008 - an interesting audio collage technique that adds poignancy and emotional depth to her music. I hope she starts coming out with some more new music soon. (Her 2008 album Synergy, which this song is from, and her 2010 release Profitandloss are both available on iTunes and Amazon and other retailors.)
Nerdkween is Monica Arrington, whose unique style of indie pop--utilizing analog/lo-fi instrumentation to accompany her gentle yet commanding voice--impresses growing audiences. Arrington's organic recordings, like debut LP Synergy (Stickfigure Records, 2008) and ProfitandLoss (2010), are full of melancholic ponderings and reflective revelations that meet with empathic ears, challenged minds, and uplifted hearts. Arriving from Atlanta, Georgia this week, Nerdkween performs an official SXSW showcase at Stephen F's Bar in Austin, Texas Saturday, March 19.
