I was really excited for this episode since it was announced. We kicked off with a fortified storage facility with a dead body, then McGee in the school drop-off line. I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get Delilah, Johnny, and Morgan, but it’s not like they were essential to the plot. The fact the secret vault was filled with cheese was hilarious, and I love how Knight’s become the resident movie-quoter and assistant joke-maker- Jimmy will always be the master. Approaching a car from the other side of the street is always a dead giveaway it’s going to explode, and I liked how we got a civilian’s reaction to it. I liked the bit with McGee, Vance, and Knight in Observation, and McGee appreciating the code was great. Carter unknowingly being friends with a gangster was funny, and if my eyes didn’t deceive me, Torres mentioned he had a husband. Jimmy showing off his skills at the funeral home and proving Knight’s friend wrong was great, and really showed his character development. The possibility of Carter stealing money from an elementary school was amusing, and Parker offering to support him in Interrogation was sweet. Using the crypto crash as a really depressing plot point added realism, and provided an angle other than ‘crypto guy lost six figures, ha ha’. The jersey being from the evidence garage and Knight and Parker being jocks was great, as was the football party turning into a support circle. McGee hearing the other dads talking about him was sad, especially as that’s how the act ended. McGee bonding with Carter was great, as was the oh-so-casual exploding-car conversation. The bait-and-switch with the money was great- I fully believed the account had been depleted, and the episode ending on a happy note made me smile really big.

This was a great episode filled with humor, real-life events, and a look into McGee-the-dad as opposed to the husband and agent. I loved how they addressed feeling like an outcast, and focusing on dads was a nice change from cliquey mom groups.
