Information for participants: Please bring binoculars if you have them. Limited loaner binoculars will be available, provided by Mass Audubon’s Boston Nature Center @massaudubonboston on a first come, first served basis. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, dressing for the weather conditions, and wearing a hat with a brim. Expect to walk 1-2 miles on paved paths. The nearest restrooms are at the Franklin Park Golf Course Clubhouse. In the event of heavy rain, the walk will be canceled. I see alot of folks complaining about the heat today, here in Boston, MA. This is lightweight. Have you ever hiked in the rainforest or jungle, in this type of heat, looking for birds and other wildlife, while wearing pants, long sleeves, hiking boots, also wearing a backpack for gear, holding a camera with a 150-600mm zoom lens? Not to mention, being harassed by mosquitoes, being cautious of venomous snakes and bullet ants? Google bullet ants. 😄 This is nothing! Bufflehead ♀️ The way I try to photograph diving ducks is kind of funny. My approach is similar to the red light, green light game. When the duck dives, I run towards it for about 3-4 seconds, then kneel down before it pops back up. I do this until I'm in close range to get a decent shot. I won't say it works 100% of the time, but I does help! Common Goldeneye ♂️ with a juvenile Herring Gull. They actually weren't hanging out together. I was focused on the Common Goldeneye, and as it started swimming away from me, I just happened to catch this frame as it swam past the Gull.
