I was doing this a lot last year but there were periods where I slacked and the top picture shows that 🤦🏾‍♀️. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔑 𝗡𝗼 𝟭 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗻𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲: Water, water, water is your friend, and that goes for drinking it (and diet too💁🏾‍♀️) and applying it to your hair strands. I’ve currently been spritzing my hair twice a week with water, applying leave in conditioner and an oil or cream. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔑I 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 a lot more, applying water ➡️ leave in ➡️ Shea butter. I’ll likely do this about three times a week because if I’m leaving my hair down it’s constantly rubbing against clothing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔑 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 is of course something I highly recommend - it provides moisture for a longer period of time. When it comes to wash day and I haven’t deep conditioned my hair it shows quickly within a few days 😂. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔑A 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗳 has become 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 for me - as soon as I walk into the house I put a scarf on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔑I don’t talk about this often but 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 is really good in smoothing the hair strands especially if you just finished using a harsh shampoo which may cause frizz. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔑Take a 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. I did my transition chop in June 2016 (after transitioning for a year and a half). Until my chop, and even for a while after I chopped, I did a lot of protective styles with added hair. Are there any transitioning naturals out there? What styles do you like to do for your transition? . . . . I tried to choose styles that would not require heat or too much manipulation—Braids, sleek buns, weaves. If I did the style myself, I used Marley hair (my FAVORITE type of added hair to use for kinky hair. I still have a pack in my bathroom for hair emergencies 😂). For the weaves I used kinky straight (which blends amazingly with transitioning hair—I usually just let my leave out air dry), or I used a wavy texture (I blended my leave out with perm rods). . . . To maintain my transitioning hair, I basically treated it like it was all natural—I made sure to wash in sections and I made sure to really keep my new growth stretched and moisturized. When ever I took out a protective style after a long time I MADE SURE to take out the extensions with a LOT of conditioner. And I rarely used combs. Back then I think I was a huge product junkie and I loved the creme of nature product lines for my transitioning hair because everything was super moisturizing.
