(cross-posting my fgo lb7 thought vomit from a certain dying site)
reading lb7 yesterday made me think a lot about the decision to make tezcatlipoca a western white-looking dude.... i'd now say it has a reason but whether it's a good reason is another question.
izcalli's (moctezuma II's) inclusion and issues on perceiving and accepting the reality surrounding him is the most important one. izcalli is the main voice of the point of invaders vs invasioned, even bringing up his hate for white people and the qualities he connects to them. it's less on a "who was more moral"-level and really more on just a personal-level of his own character and uncertainty of who he is supposed to be... and tezca being his god and goal but also literally a parody of what he claims he hates personally about europeans is a cool angle
he's so desperate about proving his worth and place as tezcatlipoca that he ignores all the obvious realities surrounding him from tezca's true nature (and reveal with the dinosaur king) to tlaloc's stance, culminating again in him trusting the real invaders from real history
when you consider izcalli and camazotz being the only humanoid natives of this lostbelt and also the only dark-skinned ones, actually in the frame of the story itself there is still a distinction made
the themes of native civilizations defending themselves against foreign forces (literally ALIENS, chaldea, other ideologies) and the meaning of what constitutes civilization and what the death of a culture and people truly is (oblivion) is still at heart of lb7
there is also a running theme of feeling you don't belong to a (cultural) group or not (tepeu, kukulkan, u-olga, daybit) with varying degrees of not being neatly a or b, so i think it's worth reading before condemning it altogether. nasu definitely poured a lot of consideration and research into this... not just history, but into the struggles of what it means to be part of a people

Objectively hilarious that political outsider Harry Wilson's campaign team thought social media hellsite tumblr dot com would be a good and worthwhile place to advertise his pro-cop platform. Like hi Harry, welcome to the circus, you're the biggest clown in the tent.
