What are your thoughts on Kaneko's designs from megami tensei 2 and do any stand out in particular to you?

The sprites are expressive and charming given the Famicom's limitations; the illustrations are incredibly early promotional material.

I think that's the long and short of it, really. The illustrations have these thick lines and shadows and look like they've stepped out of some trashy late '80s OVA, though that has its own appeal. But had Kaneko never evolved past this style he wouldn't be so celebrated today.

I still like the MT2 Jack Bros. better than their modern counterparts, though.
