stans comparing HH and SU songs is so embarrassing. Despite my issues with both shows I still like them but SU has way better songs/bg music than HH. Rebecca is an amazing composer (I’ll ever forgive or forget viv trash talking Rebecca’s songwriting. It was on an old stream but she gave sugar shit for writing music with ukeleles especially musicals but honestly just sounded like she was seething hard) “everything stay” “love like you” and “I remember you” “giant woman” the speak for themselves. Another thing about SU is it had amazing soundtrack with instrumentals, it had tone/atmosphere. It made the world of Steven have a vibe and could set the tone and tell a story with music alone.
Also I know goose and Evan did the score for HH but honestly nothing stood out which is weird because digital circus has a great soundtrack it has those old rpg Nintendo game sound which is such a vibe and again makes digital world unknown but theres more things out there we want to know. “You’re new home” is so fucking good. monkey wrench also has a great soundtrack that’s really highlighted in episode 3, it sets a sombre, melancholic tone throughout the episode and it’s a pretty damn heartbreaking episode.
With HH its not really a good score there no tone/mood just a lot of sound effects and the eres no build up or proper setting to musicals. I know songs are good but they feel empty? Cheap? It’s confusing. Either goose and Evan were told to just write whatever while most of the focus and highlights were the songs but bg music can really make a show. HH has none of that. HB has good bg music I hate stolas but his theme “stolas speaks” “robo fizz show” are pretty good and they were made by Jefferson Friedman who does the music for the Harley Quinn show. Score just set ups tone in a narrative story telling way that better than just having characters singing, but that’s just me. Respectless is pretty good even if the lyrics are really annoying, I think people stopped saying hashtag and swipe left a long time ago, just makes velvet sound like a boomer
Viv can seethe all she likes, nothing she's ever written is ever matching Rebecca Sugar's songwriting for craft, storytelling, and sheer heart.

Hi Zeurel, I know you're a legendary indie animator but I'd love to know about your writing process, especially when writing the plot for Monkey Wrench. You don't have to be specific but do you like to listen to a certain soundtrack when writing? Do you find that you write better in a certain place like a park? Do you write when you don't really feel like it? Or do you only write when you feel inspired? If you already answered this question, please let me know where I can find it. Thanks for reading 😊✌
My writing area is usually either outside or just somewhere away from distraction and the internet. What ash and I do for episodes is we have a rough outline of what happens, usually bullet points which act as a skeleton, we can then start adding on the meat and skin in terms of dialogue and silly stuff. Ashley is usually the one that tackles the dialogue stuff, I tackle the overall plot and gags.
Once we're happy with version 1 of the script we read it over to ourselves and often out loud; what you write down can seem good on paper but hearing it said can be totally different and may require changing.
After a couple goes of that the script is tweaked more, we check to see what we can cut out, if anything needs changing and if actions and motives of the characters make sense as well as soldering any plot holes shut.
After THAT, maybe one more round of tweaking before we get our voice actors to have at it.
The script for episode 3 went through 12 different versions and it's quite different from the original idea we had. It's gonna have some fun lore bits, gonna be setting up things to come later (if we get to make more that is) and overall should be a larf.

Foo Fighters @ Mt. Smart Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand 20/01/2024
Cussing and cigarettes, Jack Black, and 35,000 people’s love for rock and roll—Foo Fighters return to Auckland, New Zealand after six long years.
Riding the success of their 10th studio album, Foo Fighters were forced to delay their late 2022 tour to Australia and New Zealand when drummer Taylor Hawkins suddenly passed earlier in the year. There was some speculation that the band might retire after 25 years, but after a year of grieving (particularly for frontman Dave Grohl, whose mother also died in 2022) Foo Fighters announced that step-in drummer Josh Freese (The Vandals, Devo) would permanently be joining the band.
In what was their first show of 2024, Foo Fighters return exclusively to New Zealand and delight fans with one of their most dynamic performances to date. Although the set was evenly paced, sprinkled with new songs from last year’s studio album Here We Are (2023) and old classics to get everyone out of their seats, an almost 3 hour set was bound to have more than just a couple of highlights.
“Who came out and saw us when we played at that old speedway? That show was so loud it caused a seismic event,” said Grohl, referring to the volcanic-like tremor caused by the stamping feet of thousands of fans at Western Springs in 2011. “When I think about New Zealand, I think about an audience that can trigger an earthquake.”
It wasn’t the only time Grohl expressed his fondness for New Zealand, noting that he always has a great time whenever the band tours. Whilst Grohl shared stories with the crowd, the band teased snippets of songs from multiple artists (Metallica, The Ramones, Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails) throughout the set, and even surprised everyone with a special appearance from actor and singer Jack Black for a cover of AC/DC’s Big Balls.
But in amongst the party, there were sombre moments too, like an acoustic stripped back version of My Hero and a tribute for Hawkins that the band perform every night. “This was the first song we wrote together and his favourite,” Grohl told the crowd before performing Aurora. A few times the lights were dimmed and the stadium lit up like stars as the audience held their torches to the sky, providing the perfect atmosphere for the warm summer’s evening soundtrack.
When the crowd weren't swinging their arms in unison over their heads, they were screaming and thrashing their heads at the peak of all the fan favourites, from The Pretender, to Monkey Wrench, to Best of You and their faithful encore Everlong. It's hard not to admire such a resilient act as this band who can seemingly overcome any obstacle thrown their way. Welcome back, legends.
Review by Catherine Parrish.

I want to love Monkey Wrench...
Tumblr media
But I don't yet.
Off the top the biggest hurdle is that I don't like either of our main characters. Shrike is annoying, Beebs is very boring, and I don't love either design. I also can't help but see them as pale copies of Ren Hoëk and Jet Black respectively. They're just too on point y'know? In fact the premise calls to mind like three different anime (Bebop, Outlaw Star, Space Dandy) and MW hasn't done enough to set it self apart.
The writing really isn't doing it for me. The humor in particular. Is Ren-- Shrike's gag of getting words wrong and mispronouncing things supposed to be funny, charming? It's just not hitting. There's also this trend of saccharine characters with goofy, baby voices that feels like something from the early 2010s internet humor, it's a really weird choice. I don't think I've chuckled at the show yet which is a problem because it's clearly aiming for humor much of the time. Maybe it's the voice acting?
The music is also detracts from the show, imo. Not much more to add. It often feels out of place or used improperly which isn't what you want from a soundtrack.
It's not all bad of course. The animation is good overall, lots of fun little flourishes. Some quality direction too. The creator clearly has an affinity for hands to which is fuggin' #relatable. I never see that enough.
Like I said I want to like this show, I'm always hungry for quality furry content, but it's just not there yet for me. I would really need to see some engaging, compelling writing for the main duo to get drawn in. There are a lot, a huge number, of broke, mis-matched bounty hunter shows and I hope Monkey Wrench can stand out.
P.S: The waifu game is off to a banger start though. Sheeesh

tired of being mean to the movie there were a lot of good parts:
first of all the bros' dynamic was everything i could've asked for, even if there wasn't at much of it as i'd hoped. the entire opening scene was so charming, the separation scene was gut-wrenching (though not as much as if i hadn't seen it in the promos, annoyingly), luigi succumbing and naming mario to bowser but taking the opportunity to truly sell his brother's good qualities, mario going through rigorous training overnight (including eating multiple mushrooms which the movie very much emphasised his hatred of) and willingly fighting a giant monkey to save luigi, their reunion (BIG emphasis on this one i was losing my mind over that hug -- or more accurately those hugs), luigi defending mario from bowser's flames, them absorbing the star power together (i called that one babyyyy!!) and defeating bowser together.
although i feel like it took up a little too much screen time, the mario and dk dynamic was pretty good. mario saving dk in a manner that risked his own life in spite of their rivalry was a neat little nod to the aspect of mario's personality as someone who saves no matter what. the powerups scene was nifty, even if (again) a lot of it had already been spoiled by the promo. they use their own strengtgs to work together, highlighting that both of them truly shine as part of a team (as shown in games like the m&l and paper mario series, and the dk games where he's paired with diddy kong and/or dixie kong).
again much of mario, peach and toad's dynamic was spoiled by the promos (i really should've taken "movie promos these days just show the entire movie" to heart), and regrettably there wasn't much else aside from those between them, but what we got was great. they were silly and fun (and i will talk about them in more detail if i watch the movie again, this time with a more analytical lens).
then there's the production aspect of the movie. the soundtrack didn't interest me that much (movie soundtracks never do, really), but i did like the remixes of game music in there (the airship theme, the smb3 athletic theme, the smb1 overworld and underground theme, the mk8 menu theme, the captain toad theme... there was definitely more but they don't come to mind as of right now) and the nifty references to songs like the super show theme and the dk rap. the animation was stunning, and i kept finding myself looking at everyone's clothes and the gorgeous environment. excellent quality stuff.
the bros reunion hug is SO significant to me actually it was the highlight of the movie for me and i NEED a gif or video clip of it to preserve it forever godddd.

That new Monkey Wrench show is so good!!!!!!
I’ve been following Zeurel’s works way back on deviantart and Shrike and Beebs having their own show? I desperately NEEDED that laugh. His animation has improved so much, too!! Although there is only one episode so far, I enjoyed it very much and can’t wait to see more of it!!
The voice acting, the animation (it’s so fun to watch!!!) and this new dynamic Shrike and Beebs have. Beebs has so much personality now??? In the old days, he gave off the “big dumb fat guy” trope and I am so glad this is not the case anymore!!!
Only one episode, but this show is so funny and so good I really want to see more of it!!!
Also the soundtrack??? SO GOOD.

RADIO on TV!
Radio Shows on Lucille Ball’s TV Sitcoms
Tumblr media
Television was an outgrowth of radio. Many of our best loved shows originally came from radio - including “I Love Lucy,” which was inspired by the success of “My Favorite Husband”.  Here are a few stragglers - radio shows that were mentioned on Lucy TV!
Tumblr media
There was some thought about creating an “I Love Lucy” radio show to run in simultaneously with the television series as was being done with “Our Miss Brooks.” A pilot show was produced, but it never aired. It was created by editing the soundtrack of the television episode “Breaking the Lease”, with added narration. It included commercials for Philip Morris, which sponsored the TV series. Philip Morris eventually sponsored a radio edition of “My Little Margie” instead.  Here’s Ricky’s opening narration:
“Hello. I’m Ricky Ricardo and I’m the guy who loves Lucy. The whole thing started ten years ago.  I had just come to this country from Cuba and I didn’t know much about your customs.  The first girl I had a date with was Lucy. It was a romantic night and after all I had a reputation to live up to as a Latin lover so I kissed her goodnight. It was right then that she told me that under the Constitution of the United States if a man kisses a girl he has to marry her. Then I found out that she tricked me. I didn’t care. Because after all, if I hadn’t married her, I’d would have married someone else. And Lucy’s just like any other American girl, who is pretty, charming, witty, and partly insane.”
Tumblr media
FREDDY FILLMORE QUIZ SHOWS
Tumblr media
“The Quiz Show” (1951)
With Lucy’s household accounts in arrears, she goes on a radio quiz show to win a thousand dollars. All she has to do is pretend a complete stranger is her first husband in front of Ricky.  A tramp at the door throws a monkey wrench into the scheme!
Tumblr media
This is the first of three episodes to feature Frank Nelson in the role of Freddy Fillmore, game show host extraordinaire. He is the host of “Females Are Fabulous”.  The announcer who encourages the audience to applaud is played by Lee Millar. The premise of the show has Lucy being pelted with various items (mostly liquids) when Ricky sings a trigger word from a safe distance.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Gets Ricky on the Radio” (1952)
When their TV breaks down, the gang tunes in to a radio quiz show. Surprisingly, Ricky correctly guesses the answers to all of the questions, so the next day Lucy signs them up to be on the show. Little did she know that the quiz was a delayed broadcast and that Ricky overheard the answers while at the studio!  This episode is based on Lucy’s radio show, “My Favorite Husband” “Quiz Show,” which aired October 23, 1948. In the radio version, the show was called “His and Hers” and is hosted by Smiley Stembottom (Frank Nelson).
Tumblr media
On television, the quiz show is called “Mr. and Mrs. Quiz” and is hosted by Freddy Fillmore (Frank Nelson again).
Tumblr media
Everyone on the series loved Roy Rowan’s on-screen announcing for "Mr. and Mrs. Quiz” so much that he then became the announcer for “I Love Lucy.”  To be sure Ricky wins, Lucy steals the questions. Unbeknownst to her, Fillmore changes the questions at the last minute so Lucy’s answers make no sense.
Tumblr media
The next time we see Freddy Fillmore he has made the transition to television with his latest quiz show “Be A Good Neighbor”.
Tumblr media
“Off To Florida” (1956)
Radio plays an integral role in the plot of the episode. Lucy and Ethel hitch a ride to Florida with a Mrs. Grundy (Elsa Lanchester), an eccentric woman. To fall sleep in the parked car, Lucy turns on the radio for some soothing music, until...
NEWSCASTER: “Now here's the latest bulletin on the Evelyn Holmby case. Police have definitely established that Evelyn Holmby, famous gray-haired hatchet murderess who escaped from New York State Prison Thursday, is heading south in a cream-colored convertible coupe. Stand by for further bulletins. And now back to our recorded music.”
Having found a hatchet in the car’s trunk, Lucy puts two and two together and is wonders if their driver is the wanted criminal on the lam!  Lucy and Ethel chalk it up to coincidence. In the morning, they try to cat nap while Mrs. Grundy is driving. When they are sleeping, she turns on the radio.
NEWSCASTER: “That winds up the news from Washington today. And here's the latest bulletin on Evelyn Holmby, escaped hatchet murderess. Police have learned that, before leaving New York, she dyed her gray hair red, and is heading south with a blonde companion.”
Now Mrs. Grundy suspects Lucy and Ethel!
The radio announcer is voiced by Roy Roberts. The big band music in the background was also heard in “Country Club Dance” (1957).
Tumblr media
“Lucy is a Chaperone” (1963)
Lucy and Viv chaperone a group of Chris’s friends on a beach vacation. When the girls are dancing to music on the radio, Viv mistakes the Mashed Potato for the Jitterbug. When Lucy attempts the steps, Viv remarks that she's got “lumps in her gravy.” The Mashed Potato was a popular dance craze of 1962 made famous by James Brown.  A companion dance song was titled (appropriately) “Gravy”. This marks the first of many appearances by the red transistor radio - albeit in black and white!
Tumblr media
“Ethel Merman and the Boy Scout Show” (1964)
During a tribute to show business, radio is represented by Mr. Mooney as a radio host presenting a lady saxophone player (Lucy) from Altoona, Pennsylvania, playing “Glow Worm” (poorly).
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Beauty Doctor” (1965)
At the start of the episode, Lucy and Viv listen to the radio show “Morning Magazine of the Air” which presents Lady Cynthia's Beauty Tips. It is from this broadcast that Lucy hears about a $25 beauty treatment by Dr. Fleischer.
LADY CYNTHIA (voice on radio): “Good morning, ladies. How would you like to have your biggest beauty problem behind you?”  VIV (listening to radio): “That’s where mine is now.”
Lady Cynthia is voiced by Carole Cook and Sid Gould is the announcer.
Tumblr media
Now easily identified in color, Lucy’s red transistor radio will turn up many times on “The Lucy Show”, even after she moves to Los Angeles.
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Disc Jockey” (1965)
Lucy wins a mystery sound contest on the radio, winning $25 and the chance to be disc jockey for a day. Naturally, things don’t go smoothly when she takes over the studio.
Tumblr media
The host of the radio show Gordon ‘Fair’ Felson (Pat Harrington). The call letters of the radio station are WLDJ representing the first letter of each word in the episode’s title: “Lucy the Disc Jockey.”
Tumblr media
After playing the mystery sound, Felson announces the return to “the swing sounds of Jan Garber.” Garber was a bandleader known for ‘sweet’ and ‘swing’ jazz. His nickname was “The Idol of the Air Lanes.”
Tumblr media
Mr. Mooney says that the ‘Name the Sound’ contest is the silliest thing since ‘Mrs. Hush’. The Mrs. Hush contest was a feature of “Truth or Consequences” radio show in 1947.
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Rain Goddess” (1966)
Herbie (Marc Cavell), the bank office boy, is blaring “Do The Watusi!” on his transistor radio. The song (without lyrics) was also heard in “Chris’s New Year’s Eve Party” (1962).
Tumblr media
“Lucy’s Burglar Alarm” (1969)
At the start of the episode, Craig is practicing guitar and Kim is listening to a transistor radio playing an instrumental version of “I Know a Place” by Tony Hatch. The song was made popular in 1965 by Petula Clark. This is the third time the song has been heard on “Here’s Lucy.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Jack Benny’s Biography” (1970)
Helping Benny write his memoirs, Lucy plays all the women in Jack’s life. In the fourth flashback, Jack Benny is a radio star broadcasting with Mary Livingstone. In this sequence, Lucille Ball lip synchs to the voice of the real Mary Livingstone, who became Mrs. Jack Benny in 1927.
Tumblr media
“Lucy, the Other Woman” (1972)
While having breakfast, Lucy listens to a radio news report about a marital triangle that caused a Mrs. Mercedes Smith of Sherman Oaks to shoot a Mrs. Vivian Boone for breaking up her happy home. The newscaster is voiced by Roy Rowan.

Emergence of a Sonic Apocalypse: A Review of “Doomsday” by The Trusted If the end of the world ever needed an uplifting soundtrack, The Trusted’s latest single, 'Doomsday,' would undoubtedly be a front-runner. Hailing from Southend-on-Sea, bandmates Dave Batchelor, Dale Holt-Mead, Fin Cunningham, and Tom Cunningham weave an indiscriminate blend of alt-rock pop with indie rock undertones that floods the senses as intensely as title of the track suggests. https://open.spotify.com/track/540Zz2WlGBa12l3RBmLN1T?si=20c5fc8cda6742db 'Doomsday' beings with an atmospheric introduction which is soon ruptured by piercing guitar hooks – they are stunning, unanticipated, and they command attention. The forceful riffs, comparable to the audaciousness of an Arctic Monkeys' sound, take us on a rollercoaster ride through melodic valleys and soaring peaks. The enchanting loftiness of these sequences is matched only by the band's technical acuity, producing something simultaneously potent and ear-pleasing. Lyrically, 'Doomsday' speaks of disintegration and despair; it is a desperate cry against isolation amplified perfectly through male vocals that are both raw and intoxicating. This sonic exploration of a psychological apocalypse, surprisingly, does not bring about feelings of dread but rather a cathartic release. The anthemic chorus is delivered with a passion reminiscent of U2's anthems—a rallying call against the wreckage of personal turmoil, echoing long after the song ends. Joy From Despair: A Dive into “The Sadface Album” by Something Moves The Trusted effectively combine the rugged timbre of indie rock with the more accessible aspects of alt rock-pop, creating a tapestry of audial emotion that appeals to both niche and mainstream listeners. The vocals shine through with distinct personality, while the exceptional instrumentation provides a solid and engaging backdrop. The largely live-feeling production on 'Doomsday' appropriately complements its theme, adding an element of rawness and authenticity to the record. In closing, 'Doomsday' by The Trusted is a sonic embodiment of upheaval and resilience interspersed with moments of intense rapture. Listeners will appreciate their ability to transform a tale of disorder to a rousing anthem capable of inciting the most impassive of hearts. To say that the world needs more of The Trusted's unique sound would be an understatement. Galvanized through bold, heart-wrenching lyrics and powerful, infectious tunefulness, 'Doomsday' stands as a testament to the band's virtuosity, indicating a bright and promising trajectory for these Southend-on-Sea natives. Follow the band on Website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.

Good morning Mr. Zeurel!
I hope you have a nice day, and that everything is in order.
The reason for this message is because I would like to ask for your permission to be able to use your videos (And series) "Monkey Wrench" Since I am a "Fanduber" A person who does dubbing made by fans and without profit.
His series is incredible, I love its animation, characters, and it is worthy of having a Latin dubbing
I will be the director of this project, which we will be dubbing into Latin Spanish.
If you like, you can set rules so that this project goes well and you are satisfied, since you will be the client (and obviously the director of the original project)
I will use both the videos and the Soundtrack's.
Also if you could: I don't know if I can ask for some "posters" with this point I mean all the texts that are in English are not there, so I can translate them.
or else ask for the text fonts to be used.
if none of these points could be: It is understandable, I will do the translations with my own hands.
And if you don't want there to be that kind of change, it's also understandable.
obviously: I will give you all kinds of credits, both original actors of your cast, musician, and person with their SFX.
Obviously the video will not have monetization from me
I will wait for your response for this permission and project so that the series can be recognized.
Have a beautiful day!
You have spammed EVERY social of mine REPEATEDLY today with the exact same thing over and over.
