[photo: (above) Umaru from Himouto! Umaru-chan R; (l-r) Umaru's beanie, Umaru's beanie-inspired cowl] NaKniCroMo 2018 Day 10: Inspiration I can take this prompt two ways: 1. People who have inspired me, or 2. Things that have inspired me. I will be talking about the second one. I take inspirations for a lot of my projects from anime, movies, and books. My surroundings is also a great source of inspiration for different color combinations. Anything and everything, really, can be one. I get excited whenever I see, even just a glimpse, of yarn-related crafts in shows I'm watching. I'd either (try to) recreate it or use it as my basis for another project (e.g., the pictures above).

Hermione, before and after I've threaded more hair (& the bangs). I purposely did not trim her hair to make it more puffier. I really love how she turned out. I want to make the rest of the gang so she wouldn't be lonely. This is a pattern by Renee of ShinyGurumi.

1.11.2018 *insert hermione quote here*📚📖🐱 . I almost forgot to post a full body picture of Hermione. The pattern is by @shinygurumi. I love love love her creations. She just released her pattern for Dobby, and he’s so adorable! 😍 . I’m waiting for the rest of the gang to be released before Hermione gets lonely. She misses her boys, you know. But, first, a little peace and quiet for reading.

1.5.2018 “Who am I? I’m just an average guy who serves as an average hero.” - Saitama, One Punch Man . (3/5) My brother loves watching, and urging people (read:me, not that I need it) to watch, anime (I think he caught up with One Piece and anyone who is familiar with the show knows how many episodes it has), and One Punch Man is one such anime. . I have watched the show myself last 2016 and loved it. It has this mix of light fun with a dab of serious here & there that I like. We are waiting for season 2 to start airing. . Mickey & Minnie Mouse Beanie This is so much fun to make. I especially love crocheting the ribbed part (in red). I would've wanted Minnie's red bow to be larger, but I ran out of yarn (and time).

30 Days of Crochet
Day 29: Do you have any tips, or things that you’ve learned from crocheting?
▪ Just enjoy the process.
▪ I f you have to frog some stitches, or the whole project, don’t hesitate and just do it. It’s part of the experience.
▪ Always count your stitches.
▪ Magic rings are a lifesaver. Use it in place of ch 2 in crocheting in a round.
▪ If you’re crocheting too tight, relax. Drop your work for a bit, take a deep breath, and release it slowly. Do it a couple times until you feel yourself relaxing. Then, you can continue.
▪ But if you’re naturally a tight crocheter, compensate for it by using a bigger hook than what is recommended.
▪ Don’t be afraid to make revisions to a pattern. (Just don’t claim it as your own.) It’s good practice for writing your own patterns.
▪ Making gauge swatches will save your crochet wearables.
▪ Blocking is also as important.
▪ If you can afford it, buy higher quality yarn and hooks. Your hands will thank you. (Locally made organic yarn are great, too.)
▪ Don’t just buy any yarn because it’s pretty. Buy only what you need and can afford. It’s no fun to go hungry.
▪ Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
▪ Youtube is your friend.
▪ And so is Google.
▪ Crochet in a well-lit room. Don’t abuse your eyes.
▪ Take a break. Your hands are not a machine.
▪ Be proud of your work.
▪ Create more.
▪ Share more.
▪ Being part of a community is awesome (even if you’re the silent type who enjoys watching others and soaking in the ambience of the place and people with you).
▪ Don’t compare yourself to others. We grow at our own pace.
▪ Looking up to someone and appreciating their work is another story, tho.

30 DAYS OF CROCHET
Day 7: Your least favorite?
This one: Oombawka Design Crochet’s My Little Black Hat (even though it's not in black).
The stitch design is hard to work with. I also crochet tightly, so that added to the difficulty. Not like other patterns where I know where and what to adjust so the outcome would fit me, this one won’t work for me.
The cream one is worked with the recommended hook from the pattern, while the white one was worked with a hook 2 sizes bigger. The product was still too small for me (and I have a small head).
I don’t think I’ll be making any more hats from this pattern.

Day 26: Have you ever been a part, or wanted to be a part, of a crochet-a-long? What was it? If not, why? I haven't been a part of a crochet-a-long yet because I don't have the materials (read: yarn) on hand when CAL comes around. I but I want to. Maybe someday.

30 DAYS OF CROCHET Day 12: Where do you keep your stash? Post pictures! I only have this one 20L bin (blue) to keep my yarn stash in, and 2 12L bins (white/clear) to stow my finished projects and other craft materials. I usually just buy enough yarn to sastisfy my cravings. I don't buy until I've exhausted my current stash, or close to it anyway. Budgeting with student allowance is hard, yo.

30 DAYS OF CROCHET
Day 9: What fiber or yarn do you love working with? I've only ever worked with acrylic or cotton yarn, so I'd say both. For acrylic, I love using Red Heart with Love. It's soft and easy to work with. Super Saver is too scratchy, and Soft is too... silky? It slides too easily. I always drop my stitches and I crochet! I'd love to work with Comfort next. As for cotton, I've only used locally produced cotton yarn and hand dyed organic cotton yarn. I love the organic cotton. I just wish the color won't wash off so easily.

1.7.2018 (5/5) The last of the Christmas gifts! I wasn’t able to make much because I ran out of time. I really should start early. Like, in July, maybe? 😆 . Anyway, this book pouch is for a cousin of mine who loves reading books as much as I do. I’ve always wanted some kind of bag to protect my book from taking damage, especially when I’m carrying it in my bag. . This is an original pattern. I’m still tweaking it. See if I’d like it more with SC, or I’d just line the inside. I’m leaning on the latter. 😄

1.4. 2018 (2/4) Christmas gifts to both of my grandmothers (paternal and maternal). I made them market bags to use because they love visiting fresh-produced markets. I hope that this will help them carry their burden. . 1.3.2018 I think it’s time to share what I made for my family last Christmas. . (¼) Cat beanies & a slouchie beanie for my cousins and youngest brother. 🐱🐱🐱 . I, personally, love how the blue one came out. I tried a different stitch with the brim of the gray, striped one, but, unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that good. I think I’ll stick with the initial pattern. (Tho, I have version 3 in the works because I am curious.) . As for the slouch, I’ve always wanted to make one but wasn’t sure how to go about it. Should I just lenghten the height of my beanie and leave it as it is, or should I add a brim to keep it in place? I evidently went with the latter (because my brother’s head is big) and I wanted it not to fall off. I might just make the former just to compare the two. I’m also not satisfied with the height of the slouch. Should I add more rounds? . Also, starting today, I plan on adding my logo on photos of my original creations. It will make my feed inconsistent, but I never was consistent anyway.
