Industry 4.0 requires enclosures for smart sensor applications
The fourth industrial revolution, or "Industry 4.0" for short, has already begun, even if many people are not really aware of this. On the one hand, this is due to the fact that most people have already heard of it, but many are struggling with the definition and its real impact on day-to-day working life. In addition, the topical subjects of IoT (Internet of Things) and IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) are mentioned in the same breath as Industry 4.0. This makes things a little more complex.

IoT in the household
Digitisation and networking can best be used and understood in your own private environment: with your smartphone, which has meanwhile become "man's best friend", you can today control a wide variety of things, no matter where you are. Individual devices such as the smart watch are linked up with other "smart things" and the data is stored in a centralized secure "cloud". All of this is intended to make our everyday life easier for us. In my opinion much of this is absolutely sensible, such as wearable emergency call systems/transmitters in hospitals or social areas. Or also personal tracking systems in occupations with an increased safety risk. An interesting example is the "Capturs" by the French manufacturer of the same name (www.capturs.com). At first glance this GPS tracking system may seem to cater for the fun factor, but a closer look reveals much more: the wearable device makes it possible for friends, family and fans to keep track of routes and thus to be involved live when persons are pursuing their sports activities, regardless of the terminal unit in question. You can export/save the data (route, distance, elevation, duration) and even publish them in social networks. But now the special feature: in the event of crashes or accidents, departure from the predefined route, longer stay at a given location and when the battery is weak, it automatically sends an email or a text message to certain persons. This makes it possible to call for help quickly in case of emergency. The Capturs was installed in the OKW MINITEC series of enclosures and can be used for all outdoor activities: hiking, skiing, climbing, paragliding etc. Other OKW series of enclosures that can be used for wearables are the BODY-CASE and the ERGO-CASE.
Industry 4.0 and IIoT
Let us come back now to the actual topic of "Industry 4.0" and IIoT "Industrial Internet of Things". There is a significant difference between the two concepts – in short, Industry 4.0 is a high-tech strategy for promoting the digitisation of industrial production; IIoT is the concrete use of smart technologies in the manufacturing industry. Many companies are currently discussing the question of how to make internal processes transparent and how to optimise them across different levels/organisations. In IIoT, it is also basically a question of making things smarter by making them communicate with each other. The focus here is on sensors which are embedded in the devices and which constantly gather and centrally deliver data concerning machinery and special application scenarios or data about the user and the entire value-added chain. The main objectives are always the same: providing better quality, optimising processes and streamlining operations, optimising the use of resources, completing orders faster and delivering them faster to the customers. In addition, an important objective is to significantly shorten the market introduction cycle for new products in order to gain a competitive advantage.
Enclosures and IIoT
Even today, many OKW enclosures series are used for the most varied applications in the smart factory. Subsequent use in day-to-day work is highly varied, and the requirements to be met by the enclosures may therefore vary considerably:
Mobile enclosures for the integration of temperature, humidity or presence sensors – ergonomic design for fatigue-free working.

Die vierte industrielle Revolution, oder abgekürzt „Industrie 4.0“, hat schon längst begonnen. Auch wenn vielen das noch gar nicht so bewusst ist. Das liegt zum einen daran, dass die meisten schon einmal davon gehört haben, jedoch tun sich viele mit der Begriffserklärung und deren reale Auswirkungen auf das tägliche Arbeitsleben noch recht schwer. Darüber hinaus werden in gleichem Atemzug zur Industrie 4.0 die Trendthemen IoT (Internet of Things) und IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) genannt. Das macht´s noch ein bisschen komplexer.
IoT im Hausgebrauch
Im privaten Umfeld ist die Digitalisierung und Vernetzung am besten greif- und begreifbar: mit dem Smartphone, mittlerweile der „beste Freund des Menschen“, kann man schon heute die vielfältigsten Dinge regeln und steuern, egal wo man sich gerade befindet. Einzelne Geräte, wie z.B. die Smart-Watch, werden mit weiteren „smarten Dingen“ vernetzt und die Datenspeicherung erfolgt zentralisiert in der gesicherten „Cloud“. Das alles soll uns im Alltag das Leben erleichtern. Vieles macht meiner Meinung nach absolut Sinn, z.B. am Körper tragbare Notrufsysteme/-Sender in Kliniken oder Sozialbereichen. Oder auch Personen-Ortungssysteme, bei Berufen mit erhöhtem Sicherheitsrisiko. Ein interessantes Beispiel ist das „Capturs“ des gleichnamigen, französischen Herstellers (www.capturs.com). Dieses GPS-Tracking-System mag auf den ersten Blick eher den Fun-Charakter bedienen, offenbart jedoch bei näherem Blick wesentlich mehr: das Wearable-Gerät ermöglicht es, Freunden, der Familie und Fans Routen zu verfolgen und somit live dabei zu sein, wenn Personen ihre Sporttätigkeit ausführen; unabhängig vom jeweiligen Endgerät. Man kann die Daten (Route, Distanz, Höhe, Dauer) exportieren/speichern und sogar in sozialen Netzwerken veröffentlichen. Nun die Besonderheit: bei Stürzen oder Unfällen, verlassen der vordefinierten Route, längeres verweilen an einem Standort und bei schwacher Batterie sendet es automatisch eine Nachricht per E-Mail oder eine SMS an bestimmte Personen. Damit kann im Ernstfall schnell Hilfe angefordert werden. Das Capturs wurde in der OKW-Gehäusereihe MINITEC verbaut und kann für alle Outdoor-Aktivitäten verwendet werden: Wandern, Skifahren, Klettern, Gleitschirmfliegen usw. Weitere für Wearables nutzbare OKW-Gehäusereihen sind das BODY-CASE und das ERGO-CASE.

Es gibt zwischen beiden Begrifflichkeiten einen wesentlichen Unterschied – Industrie 4.0 ist kurz gesagt eine Hightech-Strategie, um die Digitalisierung in der industriellen Produktion voran zu treiben; IIoT ist der konkrete Gebrauch smarter Technologien in der Fertigungsindustrie. Sehr viele Unternehmen beschäftigen sich zurzeit mit der Frage, wie sie die internen Prozesse und über verschiedene Ebenen/Organisationen hinweg transparent gestalten und optimieren können. Im Grunde geht es auch beim IIoT darum, Dinge smarter zu machen, indem sie miteinander kommunizieren. Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei Sensoren, welche eingebettet in die Geräte, ständig Daten über Maschinen, spezielle Anwendungsszenarien oder über Anwender und die gesamte Wertschöpfungskette sammeln und zentral abliefern. Die wesentlichen Ziele sind dabei immer gleich: eine bessere Qualität liefern, die Prozesse optimieren und verschlanken, den Einsatz von Ressourcen optimieren, die Aufträge schneller fertig stellen und den Kunden ausliefern. Ein wichtiges Ziel darüber hinaus ist es den Markteinführungs-Zyklus neuer Produkte wesentlich zu verkürzen, um gegenüber dem Wettbewerb Vorteile zu erhalten.
Gehäuse und IIoT
Es werden bereits heute viele OKW-Gehäusereihen für die unterschiedlichsten Anwendungszwecke in der Smart-Factory genutzt. Die Nutzung im späteren Arbeitsalltag ist hierbei vielfältig und somit können die Vorgaben an das Gehäuse recht unterschiedlich sein:

Mit dem Wireless Data Logger Almemo 470 von Ahlborn Mess- und Regelungstechnik, können Klimamessgrößen wie Temperatur oder Luftfeuchtigkeit drahtlos erfasst werden. Eine flexible Anschlusstechnik für digitale Sensoren ermöglicht die Adaption einer Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Sensoren zur Messung verschiedener Messgrößen.

Auf der Feldebene ermöglicht das sWave.NET-Funknetzwerk von steute Schaltgeräte GmbH & Co. KG, die variable Kommunikation zwischen Funkschaltgeräten und Access Points, die ähnlich wie ein Router arbeiten. Sie empfangen die Signale der Funkschaltgeräte, bündeln und senden sie, z.B. per Ethernet oder WiFi an einen oder mehrere Applikationsserver. Die Access Points werden verteilt im Sendebereich installiert und kommunizieren mit den Funkschaltgeräten.

Smart TAG

Der conbee Smart TAG basiert auf der Bluetooth-4.x-Spezifikation- mit einer Reichweite von bis zu 150 m. Der voll konfigurierbare TAG verfügt über eine Authentifizierungs-Funktion via Out-Of-Band- oder SecureSimple-Pairing, ist fälschungssicher und hat einen Bewegungssensor, der in der Lage ist, Manipulationsversuche zu erkennen. Dabei werden in dynamisch anpassbaren Sendeintervallen Statusdaten in Advertisement-Paketen übermittelt, welche Auskunft über das zu trackende Objekt geben. Der intelligente TAG meldet zyklisch seine ldentifikationsnummer, Temperatur- und Bewegungsdaten sowie Batteriestatus und optional Position.

Robuster UHF Reader

Die RF-Embedded GmbH hat einen RFID-Reader für den passiven ultrahochfrequenten Funkbereich (UHF) entwickelt, welcher ein Energiefeld aus elektromagnetische Wellen erzeugt. Sobald ein passiver UHF-Transponder in das Energiefeld gelangt, sendet er seinen Speicherinhalt an den entsprechenden RFID Reader.

Übersicht IIoT-/ Sensorgehäuse
Damit die Standardgehäuse auch den individuellen Kundenansprüchen bzgl. der Firmenfarbe, optischen Anpassung an die Nutzungsumgebung, Unternehmenslogo, den Elektronikeinbauten und Zuleitungen etc. entsprechen, bieten wir vielfältige Serviceleistungen an: Lackierungen, Bedruckungen, EMV-Aluminiumbedampfung zum Schutz vor Störstahlen, Aussparungen/ Durchbrüchen für z.B. USB-/SPI-/I2C-/LAN-Stecker oder Bedientasten.
Bei Industriegehäusen mit hoher Schutzart ist darüber hinaus die Verwendung spezieller Druckausgleichselemente ein großes Plus. Durch einen Wechsel der Temperaturen kann bei abgedichteten Gehäusen ein Unterdruck im Inneren entstehen. Feuchtigkeit und Schmutzpartikel können angesaugt werden und die empfindliche Elektronik beschädigen. Die OKW-Druckausgleichselemente können hier dagegen wirken, da sie einen besonders hohen Luftdurchsatz ermöglichen. Gleichzeitig schützt die innovative Bauweise zuverlässig vor Schmutz und ist bei Bedarf bis zu einem Druck von 6 bar absolut wasserdicht.
