priority stuff I really wish I can finish before 2023 ends in the near future:

1: post LIKE A HOOK INTO AN EYE. because this will be the second time it'll get auto-deleted on AO3 and I really don't want to fiddle with the tags and formatting again. drafts on AO3 get deleted after a month and I've drafted this twice there without posting because it's not really finished yet, but I wanted to make sure the formatting wouldn't be a problem (it's a mixed media fic, with prose and scriptwriting and fake social media posts).

also, note to self, I can probably bump the rating down from E to M. the rating is more for the horror stuff (this is my attempt at a horror fic). the E was just a placeholder rating until I get the full draft finished and can re-assess.

2: I really, really want to make a fanfic reclist. I actually don't think anyone's gonna read it lol, especially since the fandoms I write for aren't the fandoms I read fics for, but I want to do it anyway.

I don't think I'll have the time or energy to finish the rest of the items within 2023 soon, but there are some things I want to prioritize over others:

3: I was reading a craft book on writing and I took some notes. I kinda want to post them here. I actually want to do that more often, just read some writing books and post some of my notes here. I do keep my notes for my own perusal somewhere else, but this is still part of my writing journey and this blog is about documenting that journey, so yeah. notes, and maybe some of my thoughts on the book/s.

4: write the next chapter of the science of hurricane decay, time is a vinyl record, and the syllables melt away. these are quite long. if my chapter length averages on 7k words, that's... 21k words I'm committing to...

I have a lot of things I want to start zero drafting that isn't a continuation of my currently posted fics. I really shouldn't start on them yet until I clean up all the other stuff I listed above.

also — and I really, really am serious about this now — I should not join any fic writing events next year until I at least finish doing everything on this list. really! I'm serious this time! no more fic events! they're fun, don't get me wrong, and it's great that something's pushing me to write more often, but they always take up time away from other things I want to write. so, no more!! (for the near future anyway)

how interesting that we learn in the same quest that teyvat is in its 4th samsara cycle and that yellow (gold) is the third stage of alchemy while red is the true final stage. how convenient as well that the twins are always associated with the color gold, and the traveler is the 4th descender. interesting coincidences here

the puppet oneshot really puts things into perspective bc neji transferring to quartz makes sense. that is a man who thrives in a chaotic environment. he needs interesting people to surround him and inspire him.

chui being so intimidatingly good at performing that he unintentionally creates a univeil purge that resulted in a dwindling amber (and even quartz) population would actually make neji leave even faster. chui being in amber and unintentionally creating an environment where everyone is either scared or quitting or failing to keep up with him, rather than bringing their own personalities and creativity to the table... it would only be a matter of time before that bores neji. there's only so much you can experiment with with only one lead actor

(plus amber considers neji a freak, which, fine, I don't think neji cares, but it's such a stark contrast to quartz who tolerate if not encourage neji's creativity. the year he transferred was still probably rough on quartz bc they also lost tsuki, so at that point I think they'd just be like, "🤷‍♀️ we don't really have any other ideas, might as well let this weirdo do his thing")

but it's also hilarious to me because chui is going all "gods and mortals" metaphor to neji and wants him to come back, and when you read that scene for the first time, you'd think that they've known each other for so long, but neji was only really classmates with chui for... less than half a year?

like. imagine if kisa left quartz after the summer performance and suzu was like, "but we were so good together!!!" but they've only been in two plays at this point. lol.

chui is out there thinking only neji can make Art™ with him while neji isn't even thinking about chui bc he's busy prying fumi and kai's brains for his script. it's also funny bc like... if chui had just made friends, neji might have stayed. not for chui's sake, but bc chui Being Human and having actual relationships meant that other amber actors also become Interesting Humans in neji's eyes. but he didn't do that bc nobody is worth it to him. meanwhile fumi is out there getting mad that tsuki is gone but at least he has People Skills and even if kai isn't on his Level™ yet at that point, fumi will at least try to make things work.

if it seems like gazaesims isn't responding, please just be patient and persistent with them. the simly e-sims I sent in the past were used immediately, but the airalo ones haven't been used in maybe two months? I usually let them take their time because sometimes they give out e-sims as extras/backups, so there's always a possibility that they won't be used immediately

anyway, you can always bump the original email with a new message if the e-sims haven't been activated in a while. they WILL eventually respond. idk about others, but they usually react with a 🙏 emoji in my emails. just putting this out there in case someone else donated e-sims and are wondering why they haven't been used yet

tumblr keeps eating my post about chui, but just know that I got chui's ending and I am going crazy over the lore and the implications of it all

there is an alternate universe out there where neji never left amber and kisa was placed in amber instead of quartz and neji casts her as the al jeanne for I Am Death and chui-kisa-neji becomes THE terrifying trio of horror/tragedy plays.

they're stuck in a feedback loop of "I need a mirror, someone to reflect back the monster and the human in me" > "I steal from other people to grow so I'm willing to be your mirror for that cause" > "you two are fascinating and I'm gonna break you down so bad and make something new out of you" > "I love suffering for the Art™" > "I need a mirror..."

everyone is happy but mentally unwell and obsessed with theater in an insane way. somewhere deep in the mountains, a weasel is crying
