I’ll never be over how Shauna sees the group’s faces in her dream after they’ve eaten the baby. It’s such a fascinating insight into Shauna’s mind to me. Lottie looks practically childlike. She makes an attempt to wipe her face but not in an ashamed way, it’s simply a casual motion to wipe her lip, as if the actual amount of blood on her face doesn’t exist to her and it’s simply a crumb that rests on her lip. It seems like she has orchestrated this, but she’s unaware what they are really doing, as if she doesn’t understand this is Shauna’s BABY.

Akilah looks terrified, she’s sorry she’s doing this but she can’t help it. She’s almost about to throw up thinking about what she’s doing but she’s just so hungry she can’t help but eat what’s been given.

Van nearly snarls like a fucking wolf which I find FASCINATING. Van has never been aggressive toward Shauna, but she IS a strong ally to Lottie, and that seems to be enough of a threat to Shauna.

Taissa is very clearly being seen as her sleepwalking self, with the quick movements, sloppy chewing, and animalistic stare. Natalie is desperately ashamed of what she has done, trying to wipe away the evidence and so sorry that she has betrayed Shauna in such a way but she just couldn’t stop herself. It’s as if Shauna knows neither of them could be consciously capable of this, even in her dream. These two have been her strongest allies and Shauna doesn’t believe they would willingly hurt her in this way, but it could still happen somehow. Natalie also has the least amount of blood on her, like she was the last to dig in, or ate the least and most carefully. Being as respectful as possible until the last second.

And Misty. Misty looks at Shauna as if she wants to worship her. She looks for a moment like “ah shit, listen Shauna I know this looks bad” but the most prominent message from her expression is as if she is grateful to Shauna for feeding them again. Shauna has been the one keeping them fed for so long. First with Jackie, and now her baby.

It’s time to give everyone the image that convinced me Natalie was antler queen before season 2 even began. @laszlo-writes and I jokingly said one night during a theorizing session “wouldn’t it be so fun if Natalie was antler queen??” And we ran with it. In 30 minutes we collected most of the proof we needed and actually convinced ourselves we were correct. And we rewatched season one specifically looking for proof before season two dropped. All of season two was watched with AQ!Nat as our viewing lens, and it paid off.

But this image was the most crucial to me. There were tons of things we pulled from. But this. This was It for me.

Everyone gathered around the fire. Natalie facing the camera, Lottie facing Natalie with her back to the camera, and everyone else facing Natalie and 1/2 to the camera. Lottie positioned as a worshipper - the first - and Natalie center stage, with those who would be her followers around her.

With tree branches shaped like antlers behind her. Not real antlers. The wilderness’s own likeness of antlers. An arguably more powerful image than any of the times real antlers were framing someone’s head.

And this was all I needed. Everything else was icing on the cake, but this was the only piece of evidence I needed to believe it was her all along. The one with the most guilt, because she was the only one that was immune while everyone else risked death.

You know what AND ANOTHER THING - Misty truly believing for a while that Nat left without a word and being DEVASTATED because she really thought they were becoming friends, crying at the thought that Nat didn’t care about her enough to even say goodbye because it’s probably what Nat did to everyone when they got back from the wilderness in the first place. took off without a word to the others and never looked back until she was forced to by the postcard - running straight to Misty. and while Misty has Shauna in this episode, who shows up to her house when asked, that’s mostly just because Shauna is scared that Adam will be found and without Misty she is completely lost right now. But without Natalie Misty is just as lost as Shauna because she needs someone to hold together!! Natalie is her very purpose and she knows that Nat needs her and at least on SOME level wants to be around her because she followed through on her promise and went to the reunion. simply because Misty asked her to come. those brief moments before Misty goes full citizen detective are fucking heartbreaking because for a moment she’s convinced her favorite person has just up and left and never cared about her and she’s crying because now she has no one again. Let’s discuss for a brief moment

To start, I love this pic. The framing and their faces are incredible and I can already feel the exact vibe of this scene.

What I’m really interested in is the rope in Van’s hand there. She is almost definitely trying to help Tai with her sleepwalking and that’s adorable- love it, love a supportive girlfriend.
