Irish round towers, also called Cloigtheach, bell tower come from the middle age and were originally bell towers. Their use varied over the centuries and circumstances. Mainly from Irish origins, two can also be found in Scotland and one on the Isle of Man. . They were mainly built near cemeteries and monasteries with their door facing the west doorway of the church. . The purpose of the towers remain a bit unclear.
