If I had a nickel for every time a villain used Benji's voice to hurt Ethan, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice, right?

Man, this shot just satisfyingly scratches an itch in my brain.
The way he steps backwards into the light and the noir esque lighting on his face is just...

I really hope that in MI Dead reckoning part 2 they will show us at least 20 minutes of how Ethan and Benji are working together. Just two of them. That's how they ended DR part 1, now please give us some Benji and Ethan like it was in the Rogue Nation

Out of curiosity-and aside from Top Gun/Top Gun: Maverick-what are your other all-time favorite Tom Cruise movies??
Mine are:
1) Risky Business
2) Cocktail
3) Jerry McGuire (ugh, I probably spelled "McGuire" wrong, buttttt that's ok...😬😳🤦🏻‍♀️)
4) Rain Man
5) Mission: Impossible
6) Vanilla Sky
7) Jack Reacher
While I do like most of the films that he makes, of course I *do* have ones that I prefer over others. 🤗
i haven't seen all of tom's films yet (though i am working on it!) but barring tg and tg:m, my favorites have to be:
mission: impossible - rogue nation (2015)
mission: impossible - fallout (2018)
oblivion (2013)
american made (2017)
collateral (2004)
days of thunder (1990)
edge of tomorrow (2014)

wait spill the tea about the 6 minute breath training omg w h a t
ah okay so i don't know how much you know about what this is, so i'm going to cover all my bases here.
so in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, there's that Torus scene, where Ethan goes in the underwater tank to replace a mark's file with Benji's so Benji can go into the bank. this scene, of course, was shot as practically as they could get it, and that included Tom training to hold his breath for 6 and a half minutes.
the sequence itself didn't require him to hold his breath for 6 minutes, but he had to overtrain in order to ensure that he's able to hold his breath for 4 minutes to film the takes without worry. he talked a bit about this on the Graham Norton show, where it's played off as a bit of a joke, but in sort of a you have to laugh at it otherwise you'd be horrified kind of way. he talks about how he trained to the point where his autonomic system just wouldn't turn on, so he'd go for periods of time not breathing without realizing it.
in this interview, he goes a bit more in depth about it, complete with Simon's testimonial of what how it appeared to others. he talks about how it took months for his body to recover from that, because the human body really isn't meant to go for that long without oxygen, even when cut up into 4 minute cycles. it's the first time Simon has ever heard Tom say he's tired on set. Tom just didn't have the energy that he used to because of the breathholding, and he had to undergo a training program to get his body back to normal.
it's just! as Simon says in this last interview (i highly recommend watching the entire thing, it's fantastic), people just don't realize the lengths that Tom goes to in the name of filmmaking. and while i worry about him, it's people who always act like him being so committed to the stunts is just one big meme, something to joke about and parody, that makes my blood boil.
it takes tremendous amount of dedication, training, and physical capability to do the things he does and i just want people to acknowledge that and one day, i don't know, learn to appreciate it mayhaps.
