Mharnii Bruster

Raised in the lap of luxury by a wealthy noble family in Divinity's Reach, Mharnii never had the opportunity to know much about the people she came from. Adopted when they were a baby, she has known little outside the human world, which is largely why they wind up in the position she does.

After all, a little asura in a human world is a novelty in that way of life. The constant scrutiny, being treated as an oddity or a novelty, truly did a number on them growing up, leaving her incredibly shy and terribly socially anxious.

All the more surprising when they manage to save the day during the Battle of Shaemoor, catching the attention of Captain Logan Thackeray.

The least likely person to become commander then finds herself commander, struggling to find their place in a frightening world, and learning the terrible truth to how she wound up raised by a family of devout human nobles int he first place...

I've got some characters I need to do some fleshing out on here that I've talked more extensively about on Discord so here's the list of newer guys I haven't discussed here, or at least haven't gone much into:

Praxxi, one of my alt commanders. An older woman, became commander after her partner, Lopp, lost their life on Claw Island. She's struggling to keep her head above water, keep people from thinking she's losing her grip, and take care of her teenage son.

Ktokka, former resident of the Thaumanova city cube. She was there during the meltdown and it affected her to the point she could nullify the magic of other people. Has an enemies-to-lovers thing with Praxxi, starting when Ktokka was with the Aetherblades in S1.

Mharnii Bruster, another alt commander. A young asura raised from infancy by a noble human family, she's painfully shy and socially anxious, but sharp as a tack and very good at paying attention. Finding her way out of her shell while learning the truth of her past.

Butch Crushfist, legionnaire of the Fist warband, an all-female warband of charr who all were once gladium (and their bandmate Dinky, who is the only not female charr, and none of them care). Sharp and protective, jovial and very loud.

Silas Dreadpyre, a nuFlame member who "defected" under Efram's orders to keep an eye on things and get a read for how others may react to members of the Flame Legion returning to the High Legions. Partnered with Ahlma, currently in the Order of Whispers.

Ahlma, Silas's partner and girlfriend, a bright, energetic necromancer who loves to experiment with potions and tinctures. Helped Silas sort out his thoughts on trans women on account of being a trans woman herself. Surprisingly good at her job.

You can absolutely get a cup!

Mharnii wasn't just a random orphan graciously and selflessly adopted by a pair of human nobles. They had paid off someone to go to the Thaumanova city cube and straight up steal a baby.

Her parents were, at the time, professors at the College of Agronometrics and were giving a large joint presentation regarding some of their research. And while they were busy and little Mharnii's babysitter looked away for just a few seconds, the hired hand slipped in, grabbed the infant, and disappeared into the night.

Since no one suspected a human, the Inquest generally was assumed to have had something to do with it... but no one could ever prove it. Regardless, the baby girl who would come to be named Mharnii (her adoptive parents "asura-fying" a human name to help her "connect to her heritage") was eventually declared legally dead.

Not to say her birth parents never wondered as this mysterious asura raised in Divinity's Reach started making a name for herself...
