Corrine grew up in Wales in a small and humble home with her widowed father, who encouraged her to be the best version of herself. He never once judged her desires, and was her biggest supporter, even when society asked him to forsake her.

A Scottish woman, she was from a bureaucratic family that expanded their business to southern Wales and were looking for a match for their daughter to solidify their grip on the business, and found it on Scottish-Welsh Cathal Lovette. They clicked instantly and had a daughter, Corrine, before Felicia caught uterine cancer and passed when Cory was three years old.

Father: Cathal Vernon Lovette

A serious but soft-hearted man, he was reserved with those whom he didn't know and, since his wife passed, closed-off to everybody save his daughter Cory. He was protective of her and was reluctant to send her to England in the gist of the war, but he knew that limiting his daughter would only make it worse. He supported her, even when she came back with child with the child's father being dead.

Mack and Cory's relationship was odd and complicated from the start. He was one of the many people who underestimated her, and bantered often with one another.

Yet, they were drawn to one another like magnets, and, in a way, somehow understood one another. Their late nights drinking and talking (also bickering) soon escalated, and while the feelings were there, they couldn't give them a name.

When Merrick died, Cory was in shock. It was such a shock, she retreated from the war early, and, four months later, found out she was pregnant when she fainted during an event, which shocked her. She considered for a while terminating the pregnancy, but every doctor she went to advised her against it due to its advance, and that she'd definitely die as well. She decided to have the baby, and on the 15th of August 1917, she gave birth to her son, Griffin Oren Lovette.

Cory's open for a second love interest!

Friends: Viscountess Primrose Somerset, Countess of Harrendale

Second cousin of her mother, when she heard that Corrine was having trouble, she sent her men to retrieve Corrine and gave her a nice house within her estate's territory and provided her protection.

She helped her fight her in-laws from taking her child from her, and won the case. Griffin grew up with her children and was treated equally to her children to the point where Corrine made her godmother of the child. Both women remained good, close friends.

Rivals: Josephine Brume (and the whole bunch tbh)

Cory never once heard good things of Josephine, and when she came into her life to try take her child from her just because he was Mack's, she instantly hated her.

Both women clashed and argued a lot, and Cory, backed by Primrose, prepared a case against her and went to the Brume mansion to threaten to take them to court if they were really hell-bent on taking her boy from her.

Unfortunately (or not...) Josephine's husband also passed away, and the remaining Brumes gave up, promising Corrine to never reach out to her or her child and, while she regretted that she had to die for her in-laws to see reason, she wasn't saddened by his death, no matter how cruel others would think she was when reacting to her in-law's death.

Trivia

One time, she fell in love with a deaf boy who lived in her village, so she learned ESL to declare her love to him. They dated from ages 14 to 17 when he moved to the US.

She can speak five languages which she learned in St. Paul's: English, Spanish, French, German and Welsh

She's autodidact, which means that she taught herself math, biology, arithmetic, physics, geography and to man some woodwork, as well as tarot and can understand by ear twelve languages: Mandarin, Russian, Danish, Greek, Portuguese, Basque, Dutch, Finnish, Italian, Japanese and Kurdish

During the war, she taught herself Braille and taught soldiers who had been blinded the language

She used to practise ballet and is a sportswoman, and when she isn't inventing something new, she loves to practise sports, and taught her son how to play football and quidditch

She loves expensive lingerie, and likes to treat herself to a new one from time to time

She has an IQ of 183, which makes her a genius of the era

When Griffin was a baby, she discovered that drawings soothed him, so taught herself how to draw properly to soothe his cries and even make him laugh

Before he went into Hogwarts, she taught him wizarding and muggle history, geography, how to use a broom, some basic spells and how to duel and fight should the blood purists give him trouble

Writing Journal number 3

Minor content warning: Character has a flashback and thalassophobia.

How did Corrin end up here? He knew exactly how he did, his fiancee, Merrick. Merrick had always wanted to take a cruise, and despite his better judgement, Corrin agreed to one, provided their cabin didn't have windows. Merrick Pouted but relented, only because the prices of those cabins was so much cheaper since everyone wanted an exterior suite. The room was fantastic, as good if not better than some of the more expensive suites, but because it had no port windows or balconies, no one wanted them.

Corrin's plan had been to spend his entire time in their cabin, not leaving. What he hadn't counted on was seasickness. Which was made worse by being inclosed in the windowless suit. So that's how he found himself sitting on the deck, as far from the edge as possible, sipping soda water while his fiancee frollicked, literally frolicked in the wave pool. Corrin shook his head when Merrick waved to him to join him. If he wanted to play in a wave pool there was a perfectly good one back home. Thunder cracked and lightening flashed and it was suddenly a mad dash to get inside.

Corrin avoided the edge of the ship as much as he could, but the only pathway back inside to the dining room or other indoor activities went right by the edge at one point. And now he was stuck, in a line to get back in as the rain poured down and the storm as everyone tried to file back inside. He tried to keep his eyes from looking over but someone accidentally slipped and fell into him, and pushed him to the railing. And his eyes fell on the water below.

the churning waves and rolling of the endless sea of blue below him took up his whole vision and suddenly he was back on that tiny raft after his parents yacht sank and they loaded him and his younger brother onto the only inflatable life raft. They floated in that raft for days, alone, worried if their parents had survived, knowing they had not and now Corrin was responsible for his younger brother. He could remember giving all his rations to his younger brother, because it was his job to make sure he lived. Just before they ran out of rations, they were saved, and it turned out their parents had lived. A part of the yacht has remained on the surface and the two clung to that until rescue.

he heard his name distantly and shook his head, the rescue had come they had been saved, but he could still remember floating in that raft, with nothing to see but blue all around.

"corrin!" his name is shouted again and he looked to see Merrick standing over him, concerned. "Corrin, it's ok, we're inside, and the boat is safe. You're safe."

Corrin did look around, confused how he ended up here, laying on one of the sofas in the indoor lounge. Merrick smiled softly, seeing the confusion. "when you started to flashback and panic, everyone cleared the way to get you inside." The smile fell and Merrick looked apologetic. "I'm sorry. I thought we could enjoy this, even with...well, I thought you'd be able to stay away from railing and that the weather would have been clear."

Corrin just smiled, he was exhausted, but he reached up and ran a hand through Merrick's hair. "It's all right," he said, "I agreed to thsi after all, of my own free will, because you wanted it so badly. And until this point I was actually enjoying myself." He looked a little worried when thunder boomed over head.

"It's just a small thunderstorm, Captain said we'd be through into clear skies in an hour or so. It's noting to worry about. There's a few activities running indoors, but I imagine you want to rest."

"Actually, I think I want to read in the library."

"but the library has--" Merrick started, and looked at me shocked.

"I used to love the water, you know? I wasn't always thalassophobic. I was almost starting to remember that before the storm. I'd like." Corrin took a deep breath. "I feel like I'm starting to reclaim what that incident stole from me. I can't promise I'll ever want to go on a cruise again, but maybe the beach?"

But!! like? Hinoki is all about trying to forgive and let the wounds heal over time… So he wants to meet the soldiers who worked closely along side the Nohr royals ( and even wants to get to know the Nohr royals themselves ) so wanting to get to know their tactician? very important to him. This is the person who managed to change the tides of the war so much ( outside of Corrin’s ability to persuade people ) that Hoshido crumbled beneath its weight.

and then you have to add in the fact that all this time, he’s known her twin brother and had 0 idea of it until they start talking about it and he’s just. flabbergasted that they are siblings and just… i feel like he might even laugh at the irony. that two twin siblings unknowingly fought against each other in a war where two nations were fighting over their own sibling. Of course he would feel terrible after that, even apologize in her getting swept up in the war and would offer to help her reunite with him. after all hinoki knows all to well the pain of being separated from your sibling is like !

post them reuniting and stuff, he’d probably try to keep close to meia and merrick; wanting to learn more about merrick’s relationship with ryoma tbh too?? because ryoma trusted him enough to help lead his armies and to consider him a retainer?? and meia he would feel a kinship when he noticed the similarities between her and merrick and him and corrin? in the sense of they would do anything to find & reunite with their sibling and what not. And because of that he would start seeing how reckless she is, how much she gets hurt / all the scars she’s ever retained in her life… and that whole ‘sick bird’ syndrome of his would kicki in (ie; anytime he sees someone that is incapable of caring for themselves, he has to stick his dumbass in and be helpful to them!)

i bet you meia gets sick of him after 2 whole days of his incessant summoning and asking to join her during her scouting missions ( hell him even telling her constantly that taking jobs like that isn’t required of her?? she should merely be enjoying her time as an envoy in Hoshido until she’s returned home to Nohr! ) and though he’s not some tactical genius i bet you he would try to play chess with her or something sometime?! totally lose, she would CREAM him lets be real here. but he would have fun with it? in fact a lot of fun! it would probably be a good distraction for himself && her tbh???

Blog Entry #1 - Building your Local Professional Network

One organization I wish to work with is the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance. Their mission statement goes as follows: The Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA) exists to nurture and promote a vibrant, diverse, and sustainable arts and cultural community essential to the region’s economic success and quality of life. Their core values are that they believe arts and culture are essential to a vibrant community, the education of our children, and a thriving economy and the cultural community is stronger when its members work together. The goals they strive to achieve are: to advocate for the health, vitality, and financial strength of the sector through communications, strategies, and actions that result in public and private support, provide informed, authentic leadership that models cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion through action, and finally, to connect artists and organizations to one another and to funding, technical assistance, and convening opportunities. Some of the programs/services/resources this organization provides are: grants & awards, capacity building, and SpaceFinder Baltimore. If I work with this organization I can use their programs/resources to: apply for grants, obtain and/or improve on knowledge of skills, tools, and resources, and find a place to meet up and strategize or to make and/or exhibit art and data. Some people I would be interested in talking to are: Jeannie L. Howe, Executive Director, because she can help with a mission statement and setting goals, Sonja Cendak, Rubys Artist Project Grants Manager, because she can help me apply for a grant, and Nick Horan, Communications Manager, because he give me tips on editing statements, writing, and posts for social media.

Another organization I can see myself working with is the Abell Foundation. The Abell Foundation is dedicated to the enhancement of the quality of life in Maryland, with a particular focus on Baltimore. The Foundation is committed to being an agent of change by: supporting innovative efforts to solve systemic social, economic and environmental problems; providing research to better inform civic conversation about relevant issues; and investing in new technologies that have the potential to benefit society. The resource this organization provides is grants. I can work with this organization to get a grant, open a network to other resources, and produce content that aligns with their values. Some staff I’m interested with communicating with are: Corrine Jimenez, Grants Associate, because she can help me get a grant, Tracy M Barbour-Gillett, Program Officer, Community Development, because she can help me organize with the community, and Amanda Owens, Program Officer, Criminal Justice & Addiction, because she can help me with statistics

The final group I can envision myself working with is the France-Merrick Foundation. Their mission statement is “Building upon the legacy of its founders over fifty years ago, the France-Merrick Foundation strives to improve and enrich the quality of life throughout the state of Maryland, with a special interest in the Baltimore metropolitan region. Like our logo, the Foundation sees itself planting seeds of innovation, capacity building, and program expansion through its grants to organizations that positively affect people and communities in which they serve. The Foundation branches out to touch many facets of civic, educational and social issues to help grow, strengthen, and support vibrant and healthy communities.” The resource this organization will provide me with is a grant. I can work with this organization to get a grant and work with their goal of supporting social and cultural issues. The people in this organization that i wish to converse with are: Amy M. Gross, Executive Director, because she can give me tips on how to run the digital campaign, Sheree Norton, Grants Administrator, because she can help me with the grant process, and Elizabeth Perriello Rice, Program Officer, because she can lead me to the proper resources.

With the work I’m doing I want to focus on the topic of police brutality and the Groundwork Project I would like to propose is a digital campaign. A digital campaign is an online effort put forth to drive conversation, engagement, and hopefully change, through social media, blogs, websites, art, etc. There are a lot of incidents of police brutality in this country, so many in fact that a lot of them never make the news, so I will conduct research through social media, blogs, and articles. One major problem that is now being brought to light is the reveal of sexual assaulters, in fact there's even a list. One aspect of the digital campaign I plan on running is making an editable list/site just like the sexual assault list but for the criminal police officers. The purpose behind this is to give those in power and the world a small glimpse of just how much injustice is going on in the nation and to make sure that the wrong doers are held accountable for their actions.
