#FacialGuaSha dramatically improves both my appearance and how I feel each morning. My right eyelid/brow (left side of photos) has always been droopy. As a result I look cross-eyed in photos when I stare head on into the camera. I have been doing facial #guasha since the fall (as prescribed by my #acupuncturist for eye health and to move lymph). I didn't realize until a few weeks ago that a 10-15 min session does THIS to my lids/brows. And it lasts all day. I'm hopeful that by committing to doing it daily as part of my skincare routine that I'll see permanent improvements. But even if I don't, I am thrilled to be able to do this for myself as daily #selfcare. # I also notice #brainfog lift, and my head feels very clear and sharp after morning Gua Sha on my face and neck. Of course I feel #lymphaticdrainage, and I suspect that the reason why Gua Sha first thing in the morning helps so much with brain fog is because it's helping the #glymphaticsystem in my brain drain. The glymphatic system is activated while we sleep, and recent research shows that inflammatory proteins tau and beta-amyloid (found in Alzheimer's plaques and tangles!) are flushed out as we sleep, and that sleep deprivation leads to an accumulation. Anyway, my theory is that my brain and mind feel so much better because I'm expediting and aiding the flushing of these neurotoxic proteins out of my head and into the lymphatic system. # Do you do facial gua sha? WE DESERVE BETTER. Great write up today in the NY Times about the health dangers of conventional cosmetics and skincare ingredients and the shocking lack of regulation in this industry. Did you know that the European Union restricts or bans over 1400 known or suspected harmful ingredients from products while the US only has a list of 30?! It's infuriating that carcinogens, heavy metals like lead, asbestos, endocrine disruptors, and formaldehyde releasers can be found in our products. # The 3 words that catapulted me on my health journey about a decade ago: endocrine disrupting chemicals. This topic has been something I am passionate about educating others on since before I knew anything about eating real food. If you are still using conventional products while following a healthy diet like #paleo, #AIP, #keto, #w30 etc then you're hindering your own progress, especially if weight loss is a goal. The reason EDCs caught my attention when I was obese is because some scientists classify them as obesogenic, promoting obesity. # And those reproductive health issues cited? They include #endometriosis and #uterinefibroids and I have had to work through a lot of anger knowing that all that awful excessively fragranced bath and body works crap I covered myself in for a decade probably contributed to my cases. And let's not forget about the male fertility crisis with sperm counts dropping more than 50% in the last 40 years. What a difference washing your face can make! Wow. In 2013 I was almost 29 and only sometimes used castile soap (so harsh...) and maybe coconut oil (inappropriately thick and occlusive for the face...) because I was distrustful of products for sale (and rightly so, back then there were almost no non-toxic options). I did no 'poo for my hair. My skin and hair were so dull and my forehead was always covered in whiteheads. Looking side by side, I think my lines and wrinkles were worse then too (esp around my eyes)! I swear my lips are fuller now, too.
