This is for Yuuri Week Day 4: (Yuuri) On Ice Optional Theme B: Practice/Training

I had planned to just do a simple drawing of 1 Yuuri practicing his skating moves, but then I put the song Yuri on Ice on repeat and was motivated to draw 10 Yuuris. ^^; That song has magical inspirational powers. :P But it’s still the 26th in some time zones, so I managed to finish on time! :D And I had a ton of fun doing this, so it was worth the extra effort to make it a more complicated drawing! :D

My favorite thing about Eugene is that even though he’s constantly bombarded by terrible luck, he never gives up hope or gives into despair. He feels sadness, frustration, disappointment, etc, and he does reach points of wanting to give up. But he doesn’t let those feelings keep him down--he always finds a way to see the bright side. He fights back against life’s struggles with a genuine optimism and cheerfulness and then spreads that hope to those around him. ^_^ <3

Dandelions mean strength in adversity, so I feel like they’d be one of Eugene’s favorite flowers. ^_^

This is for Yuuri Week Day 6: (With my coach Victor, I’ll win with the power of) Love Optional Theme A: Home and Optional Theme B: Celebration

They didn’t show us the scene of Yuuri and Victor eating pork cutlet bowls together after Yuuri beat Yurio in their Hasetsu skating battle, so I decided to draw that for today! :D It matches all 3 themes since Yuuri’s love for Victor is what gave him that boost of motivation and confidence he needed to win that battle, getting to eat port cutlet bowls together was was what Victor promised as a celebration if Yuuri won, and the bowls come from Yuuri’s home! ^_^ Also they say home is where your loved ones are, so for Yuuri that’s Victor and his family! ^_^

This is for Yuuri Week Day 2: Friends and Family (I was finally able to realize that something like love exists all around me), Optional Theme A: Past and Optional Theme B: Animals/Pets

I only had time for a simple drawing today, but I had 11 ideas for this day and wanted to draw at least 1 of them. ^_^ So it’s 12 year-old Yuuri (for past) with Hiroko (for family), and Vicchan (for pets)! ^_^ 

I have a soft spot in my heart for Hiroko and Vicchan. ^_^ Hiroko both looks like and has a similar personality as my mom (I showed her a clip of Hiroko and she went “It’s me in anime form! :O “), and my family’s dog is a poodle mix that looks just like a darker-colored Makkachin (and thus similar to Vicchan too). ^_^

Even though I already did day 2 (and all the other days), I couldn’t resist the extra chance to draw the friends part of this prompt for Amnesty Weekend! :D Yuuri and Phichit have the sweetest friendship, it’s seriously friendship goals! ^_^ <3 Since it doesn’t snow in Thailand and rarely snows in Hasetsu, I imagine that Yuuri and Phichit made sure to enjoy everything about snow days in Detroit, such as snowball fights! :D

This is for Yuuri Week 2017 Day 1: Terra Incognita (Unknown Land) Optional Theme A: Seasons! ^_^

I discovered this morning that this week is Yuuri Week! :D I probably won’t have time to do the rest of the prompts in time, but I had today off and wanted to at least do Day 1! :D So I drew seasons in terms of it being autumn, but also in terms of early vs later part of the anime season! ^_^ At the start of the anime season when it was spring, Yuuri and Victor sat on this bench super far apart from each other. They were just getting to know each other, and Yuuri was still closing himself off to others due to his anxiety. 

But by autumn aka towards the later part of the anime season, Yuuri has learned to let Victor into his life and heart (which also matches up to the unknown land part of the prompt since his relationship with Victor is a new and unknown land)! ^_^  Their relationship has grown enough that now they’d be sitting super close and Yuuri would no longer flinch when Victor puts his hand on his! ^_^

This is for Yuuri Week Day 5: (No one in the whole world knows your true) Eros Optional Theme B: Rebirth 

I think the first time the world found out about Yuuri’s eros side was during the dance-off at the banquet. :P I also think that dance-off was the catalyst for his rebirth as a skater and as a person because the combo of their dance and Yuuri’s “Be my coach Victooooooor” plea was the initial spark of Victor falling in love and deciding to coach Yuuri. Victor coaching Yuuri convinced him not to give up on skating and brought his skating career back to life, and their relationship helped Yuuri open up more as a person, see the love around him, overcome his anxieties, and become his best self. ^_^

A lot of kids start to dream about being athletes when they see the Olympics. So I like to imagine that when little Yuuri watched the Figure Skating part of the Winter Olympics it sparked his dream to be a professional figure skater! ^_^

I LOVE the Yuri on Ice X Sanrio Characters Cafe artwork—everything is adorable!! :D But since they only did the main trio and Makkachin, I decided to create a version with my #1 favorite Phichit! ^_^ I challenged myself to make this look as much like the official artwork as possible, and in this case I was trying to match the super cute coaster designs! :D

It seemed like all the characters were paired up with the Sanrio character closest to their pet, so I paired Phichit with the hamster Corocorokuririn. ^_^ I picked strawberry cake for their dessert since there was a strawberry cake in the Phichit on Ice background. :D

This is another drawing for the Cardcaptor Sakura 30 Day Challenge on Facebook! This was for Day 26: Favorite Anime Season

My favorite anime season is season 3! :D It’s the season about my favorite arc, it has a ton of great character development and character moments, it focuses on all of my favorite characters (and in the case of Suppi it’s the only season he’s even in!), my #1 & #2 anime OTPs of all time become canon in this season, the plot is much more intense and dramatic yet it still retains that fluffy cheerfulness of the previous seasons, and the majority of my favorite quotes and moments from CCS are from this season! ^_^

This is the last drawing for the Cardcaptor Sakura 30 Day Challenge on Facebook! This is for Day 30: Favorite Movie (1st or 2nd) 

My favorite movie is the 2nd one! :D Aaah there are so many awesome things about this movie! :D <3 I love how adorably awkward Sakura and Syaoran are around each other throughout the movie—it’s so accurate for a 6th grader crush! ^_^ They have so many wonderful moments together in this, especially the play and the final scene! <3 Also Tomoyo and Meilin are the best Sakura X Syaoran shippers (which is especially sweet since it shows they want the person they love to be happy even if it’s not with them) and I love all their attempts to play matchmaker. XD Haha Touya’s attempts to stop the matchmaking and Yukito’s adorable ways of admonishing him for that are also amusing. XD

Aside from the romance, I love the general plot of the movie because it was really intense and dramatic! There were even scenes that made me cry! T_T I also love how there were so many silly scenes in this too! :D That balance between dramatic and silly made it mesh with the TV episodes, but also felt epic enough to justify it being a full-length movie. Before the Clear Card Arc started, this was the only way we could see canon older versions of the CCS characters in this world (aka not Tsubasa universe versions), so I love that aspect too! :D I think the movie did a good job giving all the main characters some screen time, even though the focus was on Sakura and Syaoran. ^_^ The animation is GORGEOUS throughout this, and the music is great too! :D Also I love the little Suppi and Kero takoyaki battle in the Kero-chan ni Omakase segment at the end because I love seeing them interact. ^_^

My favorite school friend of Sakura is Yamazaki! :D I love how when he tells stories he goes from being a serious intellectual with credible facts to being just plain silly and seeing how imaginative he can make them before people realize it’s no longer true. XD Most of his scenes make me giggle, and to this day my mom and I still say “100 km per hour!” whenever we see a sloth because of how much we laughed during his tale to Syaoran about sloths. XD But I also love that even though he’s goofy and teases anyone gullible enough to fall for his stories, he actually does have a kind heart and is aware of what people need to be happy and he does what’s best for them. ^_^

Here is another drawing for the Cardcaptor Sakura 30 Day Challenge on Facebook! This is for day 23: Favorite Sakura and Syaoran moment 

My favorite Sakura and Syaoran moment is their first official date! ^_^ It was SO adorable and sweet and innocent! ^_^ I was always a big SakuraXSyaoran shipper in the original manga, but at the same time I was glad they never officially dated because I felt they were too young to be dating. But in the Clear Card Arc where they’re older, it seems appropriate and the way CLAMP depicted their interactions was definitely realistic for a date that age! Also I had always headcannoned it that their first date would be a cherry blossom viewing date. Thus I was super excited that it was a picnic at a botanical garden since that’s a similar thing! :D

Here is another drawing for the Cardcaptor Sakura 30 Days Challenge on Facebook! :D This is for Day 12: Favorite Scene in the Manga

I have so many favorite scenes in the manga it was difficult to pick just 1! But my favorite scene in the manga that’s different in the anime vs the manga is where Touya first wakes up after giving Yukito his power and tells Yukito how much he loves him! ^_^ <3 I just love everything about this scene: Touya wakes up when he hears Yukito’s voice, Touya immediately reaches for Yukito’s face as a way to reassure himself that Yukito really didn’t disappear and Yukito puts his hand over Touya’s, Yukito is able to let his guard down and reveal how he’s actually upset about finding out he’s just Yue’s temporary form and that all his memories are fake, Touya knows exactly what to say to make Yukito feel better, then Touya lets his guard down to reveal his true feelings with the super sweet line “It doesn’t matter what you are. I just want you always at my side, giving me that sappy smile. That’s enough for me,” and they both hold hands and give each other looks of true love and it’s adorable! ^_^ <3

Here is another drawing for the Cardcaptor Sakura 30 Day Challenge on Facebook! This is for Day 22: Favorite opening song from the CCS anime

My favorite opening song from the CCS anime is the first opening: Catch You Catch Me! It’s such a cheerful and pretty song, and hearing it always brightens my day! ^_^ It’s also nostalgic because I had the Japanese version of Season 1 on VHS as a kid and hearing that song makes me think of watching it with my mom and my friends. ^_^ I really love the animation sequence for it too! :D The art style and shot choices are really cool, and it does a great job at capturing the mood of that season! :D

Here is another drawing for the Cardcaptor Sakura 30 Day Challenge on Facebook! This is for Day 18: Scene that Made You Laugh

One of my favorite scenes that made me laugh is when Kero and Suppi first met and Suppi goes crazy for sweets. XD I’m the type of person where if I’m watching an animated show, the facial expressions are more likely to make me laugh than the dialogue, and this scene is FULL of a wide range of awesome and silly expressions from Suppi! XD Also this is probably the only scene where I actually prefer the English dub over the original Japanese because Suppi’s English voice actor has this “evil and highly educated aristocrat who is bored and condescending in everything he says” kind of tone. So hearing that voice suddenly switch to going “SWEEEEEEEETS!!!! <3” and manically giggling and being super silly made the scene even more funny. XD
