𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: jealous!arne johnson (conjuring 3) x fem!reader
𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: after a secret about arne is revealed, him and his girlfriend take a much needed vacation.
𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: pure fluff!, swearing, normal vacation things, jealousy, brief sad thoughts, reader getting hit on (nothing crazy), unbearable cuteness, arne the chef, alcohol (reader gets drunk)
𝗔/𝗡: i came up with this idea after daydreaming about traveling with arne as one does. also i’m running out of gifs for arne 😩🏃‍♀️
THIS IS AN AU AND TAKES PLACE IN PRESENT DAY AS OPPOSED TO THE 80’S. NOTHING IN THIS IS BASED OFF OF THE CONJURING EXCEPT FOR THE CHARACTER ARNE AND DEBBIE. WHAT TOOK PLACE IN THAT MOVIE NEVER HAPPENED IN THIS FIC OK? OK.

she always imagined a wedding.
a white dress and her hair all done up.
her family wanted it for her too. the idea of her being single her whole life was grotesque to them and she promised that wouldn’t happen. she promised to settle down and start a family with someone who would make her parents proud.
when she met arne, she knew that he’d be a perfect husband for her. she envisioned their future together, raising kids and growing old. she assumed arne felt the same way. y/n went three years under the impression that her and arne would get married one day. three years of false hope.
it turns out, arne wasn’t entirely truthful with her.
he never told her about how he engaged to his last girlfriend. he also didn’t tell her that he wasn’t planning on doing the same to her. she didn’t find out until three years later.
her best friend was the one who told her about his ex. she found engagement pictures on the girls facebook. y/n didn’t understand why arne would keep that from her, but she never spoke about it until he dismissed her dream wedding, saying he wasn’t ‘big on marriage’.
that made y/n’s blood boil and they immediately got into an argument.
he said that his relationship with debbie was different than their relationship. y/n couldn’t comprehend what the hell he meant by that. it felt like she wasn’t ever going to compare to debbie, no matter what she did. so she spent a night crying over the death of her aspiring future and then moved on the next day.
she tried to be positive about it. she knew arne loved her, just maybe he regretted proposing to his ex and has different values now?
she couldn’t let his past relationship affect her. she was confident in what they were and some girl he gave a ring to years ago wasn’t going to change that.
arne felt guilty about the night. he knew he hurt her and he couldn’t change the fact that he just couldn’t envision walking down the aisle with her.
he thought that debbie was the one, but after he got down on one knee, he realized she wasn’t. he didn’t want the same thing to happen with y/n. marriage felt more like an obligation than a want with debbie, and he was determined to avoid that happening again.
so, he did what any good boyfriend would do.
planned a trip.
arne bought two plane tickets to seattle and packed a bag for the two while y/n was sleeping.
he then snuck into the kitchen and quietly made some pancakes, knowing how hungry y/n gets when she wakes up.
he lifted up the blanket before gently pushing her shoulder.
“hey… sleepyhead.” y/n groaned in response, causing him to laugh.
“hey, we gotta get up, come on.”
y/n opened her eyes and lifted her head off of the pillow and looked at him.
“what?” she croaked.
“we have to go. our plane leaves soon.”
y/n squinted and looked at the clock next to the bed, “it’s 2am, we don’t have to go nowhere.” she closed her eyes and shoved her face in the pillow.
“y/n….” he threw a pillow at her head.
“ughh what?!”
“we are going to seattle.”
y/n woke up at his words. “huh?”
“we are going to seattle.” he smiled and started to speak louder. “it’s true!”
“no we aren’t, what are you talking about-“
arne pulled out his phone and held it up to her face, the brightness hitting her all at once. once her eyes adjusted, she saw two tickets to seattle washington on her boyfriends phone.
“holy fuck.”
“i thought you’d like to go on a little vacation and i know you were planning on going with your friend to seattle so i-“
“oh my FUCKING-“
she jumped out of bed and grabbed his shoulders. “ARE YOU SERIOUS?”
“yes!”
she kissed him before jumping up and down in joy.
“we are going to seattle!”
“yep.” he smiled down at her, his hand buried in her hair.
“wait, when?”
“right now.”
“seriously?”
“uh huh, we gotta go though. i already packed your bag so just get dressed so we can go.”
“shit- okay.” she rushed to get dressed, putting on a t shirt and some sweatpants before checking through her bag that arne packed. she wanted to double check and make sure he packed everything. she added a few cute outfits, including a brand new dress she bought that arne had yet to see. she ran out the room with her bag and was greeted by a plate of five pancakes stacked on top of eachother with syrup and butter on top.
“aww, you made me pancakes?”
“yes, but eat them in the car so we aren’t late.” she put the pancakes in some tupperware before hopping in the car and onto the plane to land in seattle.

after landing, arne and y/n spent the day at the hotel before falling asleep.
y/n woke up to the smell of eggs and opened her eyes to be greeted by an unfamiliar hotel room. realizing where she was, she felt content and sighed before walking into the kitchenette.
“hey.”
“well, hello, my angel!” arne grabbed onto her sides and kissed her on the cheek before leading her to the table.
“breakfast is ready, come sit m’lady!”
“what’s with you?” she laughed as she watched him put her breakfast on a plate.
“i don’t know honestly. i’m just happy.” he put the plate on the table before leaning over and kissing y/n.
“me too.”
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
“ooh! can we go to this one?”
y/n and arne were currently figuring out what they wanted to do. she wanted to go to a museum and take pictures, so arne looked up what museums were in the area.
“which one?”
“this.” she pointed at the chihuly garden and glass.
“that one looks pretty..” arne checked the times to see if it was open.
“it’s open, so we can go whenever you want babe.” he looked up at his girlfriend who was standing behind his chair, huddled over the computer.
“let’s go now.”
“yeah?”
“yeah.” she kissed him before running to the bedroom to change into clothes.
“hey! wear a bathing suit underneath, i wanna go fishing after.”
“kay!”
y/n picked out a cute white dress that was tight and cut out on the top. it was super flattering and lightweight so she would be comfortable. she made sure to have her bikini underneath as she walked over to arne who was waiting at the door.
“time to go?” he asked, before looking up at his girlfriend.
“goddamn! spin for me.” he grabbed her hand and spun her as y/n giggled.
“you like it?”
“love it,” he kissed her passionately before dragging his feet out the door after her.
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
y/n was in love with the museum.
every molten piece of glass was formed in a beautifully intricate way that tugged at her heartstrings. so many beautiful lights and colors that burned themselves into her brain.
she would look over her shoulder to see arne just as amazed as she was. it was adorable seeing the way his eyes grew wide and his mouth hung open as he looked up at the artwork.
“that was insane.” arne stated, his arm hung over her shoulders as they made their way towards their car.
“i know right? it was so stunning, i can’t believe i’m here right now.”
those words made arne heart flutter and his knees start to go weak.
“well believe it baby.” he stopped and looked down at her.
he felt something happen. a switch in his brain go off that he had been waiting to go off for his whole life.
“what?” she asked.
“nothing.”
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
the couple stopped at a sandwich stop for lunch before heading to a beach. arne loved everything about the water. he loved fishing and the feeling of the cold water. he loved seafood and the breeze that the tide brought. y/n couldn’t wait to see his face once they got there. she couldn’t care less but knowing how happy arne would be made her excited.
“awww yeah!” arne ran out of the car before dropping onto the sand like a little kid.
“look at this! paradise baby.”
“ah yes,” y/n walked up towards him, “a small beach in the middle of washington is my idea of paradise.”
“hey!” arne frowned.
“i’m just joking!” she lifted up her dress and sat down on the sand.
“woah!” arne quickly covered his eyes, “babe, your dress!”
“umm… arne?”
“yeah?”
“i have a bathing suit on underneath.”
“oh.” he looked at her before laughing.
“i thought you were getting naked.” he raised his eyebrows before leaning over to kiss her.
“yeah right, you wish.” she shoved his arm, making him lose his balance and fall face first into the sand.
she took off her dress, letting it drop on the towel she laid out, revealing her maroon bikini.
“are you gonna go swi-“ he was practically drooling.
“um.. yeah?”
“oh sorry. i lost my train of thought-“ he pulled her towards him as he sat infront of her, her belly lined up with his face as he placed kisses all over her belly. they were the only ones there so no one was watching.
“arne!”
“sorry. i just- god you’re so perfect.”
she rolled her eyes and he continued kissing up her body before kissing her lips.
she hopped up and wrapped her legs around his body as he held her. when they pulled apart, he placed her on the ground before getting his gear and heading towards the water.
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
the two got dried off once they got back to the hotel. they went to a seafood place that arne was gushing over and were now deciding where to go next.
“i wanna get fucked up.”
arne laughed at her words. “arne, let’s go to a club.”
they had never gone clubbing before and y/n wasn’t a big drinker so he was shocked at her suggestion.
“a club?”
“yeah! let’s go drinking!”
“well.. there is one near the hotel.”
“yay! i’m gonna go get changed! get into something nice.” she gave him a quick peck before skipping into her room.
she had been looking for an opportunity to wear her new dress. it was a little black dress that had clubbing written all over it. it hugged her body since it was made with a latex like material and honestly? it made her feel like a bad bitch.
it was strapless and short and she loved it. she walked out after putting on her heels and before arne could say anything she walked by him and out the door.
“let’s get drinks!”
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
arne couldn’t keep his eyes off of her body and neither could anyone else at the bar.
she threw her head back as she downed another shot of vodka. she had been switching between vodka and tequila and she could already feel herself getting fucked up.
“hey… i’m sorry about the other night.”
she slammed the glass down.
“you’re sorry? what, for not wanting to marry me?” he didn’t know what to say.
“it’s fine arne, i want you to marry me because you want to, not because you feel like you have to.”
“hey! waiter, you got any wine?” she yelled.
“wait, y/n. are you sure? i think you should just have some water you’ve already had four shots.”
“not enough, sweetheart! yeah, can you just give me a bottle? the whole thing?”
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
y/n was now drunk and delved deeper into the bar. the place was huge and she dragged arne behind her. men constantly asking to buy her a drink which arne would always reply with “she’s good.” before pulling her away.
“someone is jealous!” y/n teased and played with his hair.
“yeah okay, i don’t like other guys drooling over you. what’s wrong with that?”
y/n leaned up and spoke so close to him that their lips were touching, “my body is all yours.” she whispered loud enough for him to hear.
“AW SHIT THEY HAVE A KARAOKE BAR!” y/n yelled over the singing as she excitedly pushed arne in front of her. “SEE?”
“shhhh! you’re way too loud, okay, yes i see.”
“i wanna sing!” she pouted.
y/n was always an amazing singer but she had awful stage freight, so when arne heard her beg to go on that stage in front of all of those people, he was ecstatic. he always wanted the world to hear her voice. this was a chance for her to do so.
“hell yeah! get up there baby!”
she ran up towards the dj and waited for the guy singing to finish. most of the time, the people were awful. just drunk and singing for fun. but y/n? she was taking this seriously. sure, she was gonna have fun, but she was also gonna do a damn good job. she always took music seriously.
“aww! arne look at the tv! it has the lyrics!” she pointed at the big screen playing the lyrics to applause by lady gaga as some man in his late twenties butchered it.
“yes, i see! now pick your song.”
she looked through the song list and her eyes stopped on one.
“ooh! number 71 please, sir.” ever since the karaoke machine was in view, she began to walk straighter and speak without slurs. it was like the thrill of singing was sobering her up.
when she got on the small stage, the light hit her in a way that made her sex appeal sky rocket. arne didn’t realize how good she’d look up there. whistles from men throughout the bar shook arne to his core.
“thank you kind sir!” she bowed at the cat calling. arne kept his jaw clenched as he looked to see mostly males in the audience and all of them were glued to his girl.
“what’s your name?”
“y/n! from connecticut”
“alright, give it up for y/n!”
“hey! from connecticut.”
“alright… from connecticut!”
“thank you.” she huffed at the dj as she straightened out her latex dress. arne couldn’t stop thinking about how sinful she looked.
the music started as y/n gripped the microphone.
there’s a fire
starting in my heart
reaching a fever pitch
and it’s bringing me out the dark
arne looked up and his heart beat quickened at her beautiful voice. she bounced her foot to the beat as she sung, people immediately cheering.
finally i can see you crystal clear
go ahead and sell me out
and i’ll lay your
shit bare
she walked slowly down the steps of the small stage.
see how i’ll leave
with every piece of you
don’t underestimate the
things that i will do
she walked up towards arne and pulled on the collar of his shirt before walking back on the platform. she didn’t even need to look at the lyrics. she already knew them.
there’s a fire starting in my heart
reaching a fever pitch
and it’s bringing me out
the dark
she grabbed the mic stand and moved her body to the beat.
the scars of your love
remind me of us
they keep me thinking
that we almost had it all
more people from the bar crowded around at the voice of an actually good singer. they were so used to drowning out the awful drunks that they were amazed how well y/n was doing.
the scars of your love
they leave me breathless
i can’t help feeling
she lightly hopped on the balls of her feet as the song grew more intense.
we could have had it all
rolling in the deep
you had my heart inside of your hands
and you played it to the beat
everyone went wild and arne watched her as she performed her ass off. he couldn’t help but take the words of the song to heart.
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
y/n woke up in the hotel room with a pounding headache. she checked the clock to see that it was 7am.
“ugh.” she groaned. “what the hell happened?”
arne walked in with a cup of water and some medicine, shoving something in his pocket, before giving it to her.
“you don’t remember baby?”
“no? all i remember is drinking some vodka shots and that’s it.” she gulped down the water.
arne wished she remembered how amazing she was.
“where were you?”
“oh, i had to run and grab something..”
“oh.”
arne sat down next to her and cleared his throat.
“you sang onstage last night.”
she almost choked on her water.
“rolling in the deep?” she asked and arne nodded.
“oh my god- i thought that was a dream!” arne laughed at her shocked expression.
“nope. and you killed it by the way. i’m so proud of you.” she frowned as he kissed her temple.
“hey… can we talk?”
“sure about what?”
“you know what..” arne looked down at his hands before standing up.
“y/n, i was stupid. any guy would be lucky enough to marry you and i’m so sorry that i let my past relationship dictate our future.” y/n stood up and he grabbed her hands.
“it’s okay arne. i’ve gotten used to the idea and honestly… i don’t need a wedding. i just need you. i don’t care what we are as long as we are together. and fuck what my parents think! i just- i can’t lose you arne. i know you love me and i know marriage is a hard concept for you. i respect that. i just- i just want to be with you.” she stared up at his eyes and watched his lips curve upwards into a smile.
“you know- y/n, after last night… i saw the way all those guys were looking at you and how beautiful you were on that stage. just, you were so in your element it was crazy and… i don’t know- this whole trip has been a dream and i know it’s only been two days but i have loved every second traveling with you and it made me realize… i do want to marry you.”
and with that, arne got down on one knee.
