“A story?” David asked. 

“Not a story,” Max clicked his tongue. “Tell me something about yourself. Something no one else knows.”

“Everyone knows everything about me,” David sighed. 

“Come on. There has to be something! What’s something no one knows? Something I’ll never find on the internet.”

David thought for a moment and then smiled. “My birthday.”

“Everyone knows your birthday,” Max groaned. “It’s literally on your Wikipedia page.”

“Speaking of Wikipedia, did you edit my official page and include ‘babygirl’ under the Also Known As section because that’s a crime against the crown-”

“Yeah. Yeah. I’m sure your dad would guillotine me,” Max rolled his eyes and nudged the boy on the side of stomach. “C’mon, your highness. Tell me something.”

“My birthday,” David said again. “It’s not real.”

“Huh?” Max said. 

David just shrugged. 

“Are you telling me you weren’t born on February 28th?” Max demanded. “That’s some bullshit because you are such a fucking pisces-“

“Still a pisces, not to worry,” David reassured. “But I was born on the 29th.”

Max blinked. “February 29th?”

“Yes.”

“Like on the leap day?” Max asked. 

“Yes.”

“Dude, that’s so fucking cool!” Max punched his shoulder. “Do you, like, throw a huge fucking party once in four years? Do you invite David Guetta to DJ?”

“I do neither of those things,” David chuckled. “People don’t know.”

“Why not?”

“Papa thinks it’s a bad omen,” David shrugged. 

“Bad omen?” Max frowned. 

“I don’t know,” David shrugged again. “He often tells me I couldn’t even be born right. Although I suspect, he wasn’t just talking about my birthday.”

Max was quiet for a minute. “Every time you say something about your dad, it makes me wanna punch him a little more.”

David looked alarmed. “I hope you won’t, Max. You will be arrested.”

Max shrugged at that. “My dad always says if I’m gonna get arrested for something, it better be for something that'll make him proud.”

“Your dad is weird,” David chuckled. 

“Ditto,” Max smiled. 

David smiled back. But not a lot.

Max didn’t like that. He liked it so much better when David was smiling. Properly.

“We should celebrate together,” Max said then. “The next one. It’s in three years, right?”

David nodded. “Won’t you be in New York?”

“I’ll come here,” Max shrugged. “Or you can come there.”

“I would love to visit New York,” David sighed dreamily. “I’ve always wanted to go there.”

“You know people feel the same way about Paris, right?” Max chuckled. “You live in Paris.”

David smiled again. A little one. 

Dammnit. 

Max didn’t know what he was saying or doing wrong. But he couldn’t get a real smile out of this boy. It bothered the fuck out of him. 

“We should go back,” David stood up. “They will start looking for me.”

“Yeah. Okay,” Max mumbled and got up too. “I’ll try not to punch your dad when I see him again.”

“Thank you,” David said, looking genuinely relieved. 

Max chuckled at his reaction. "You wouldn't punch him if you get the chance?"

David put his hands into his pockets and gave a little shrug.

"Seriously?" Max asked. "You don't hate him? Not even a little bit?"

"There is so much hate in this world, Max," David said. "Why on earth would I want to add to that?"

Max blinked at that.

"Loving and hating and all of these big emotions consume a lot of energy," David told him. "I don't know how much of that I have left in me. But whatever I have, I don't want to waste it on hating someone. I want to love."

Max's heart did a little flip. What the fuck? He shoved his hands inside his pockets too. He chuckled and shook his head.

“What?” David asked. 

“I don’t think you were born wrong,” Max said honestly. “You were born on a day that only happens once in four years. You were born special, David. You’re fucking special.”

David’s face softened at that. He smiled. 

A real smile.

“What?” Max groans a little. “Why are you staring at me like that?”

David does that a lot. 

He keeps staring at Max all the time. Honestly, it would be kinda creepy under different circumstances. 

“Sorry,” David looks away quickly, hiding a smile. “I can’t help it.”

“You can’t help but stare at me?” Max demands incredulously. “I’m not a painting, dude!”

“No,” David shakes his head. “You are far more beautiful.”

Max’s cheeks burn at that. 

No one’s ever called him beautiful ever. 

Hot? Yeah. Sexy? Definitely. Handsome? Of course. 

Beautiful? Nope. 

He’s always been the one to call the girls he dated beautiful and the guys he dated...well there wasn’t usually much talking with the guys if he’s being honest with himself. 

“Don’t say stuff like that,” Max hisses at him. 

“Why not?” David cocks his head. 

“Because it’s not true!” Max points out. “I’m not prettier than a painting. Have you seen Mona Lisa?”

“My family owns the Louvre,” David informs him casually. “Of course I’ve seen it.”

Max wants to know what the fuck else the French monarchy owns but he has more pressing questions to ask. “So, you’re saying that I’m more beautiful than Mona Lisa. The world famous painting by Da Vinci?”

David takes a step closer to him, hands behind his back, as always. Max swallows. 

“I’m saying that you are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen,” David tells him. “And trust me, I have seen a lot of beautiful things.”

Max doesn’t know how he feels about that. 

He has never thought of himself as beautiful - definitely not as beautiful as a painting. 

If anything he’s more like a video game. He’s fun. He’s fucking exciting. 

He’s not beautiful. 

“Well,” Max clears his throat. “Stop staring. It’s creepy.”

“I ask for too much?” Max laughed incredulously.

“Let me get this straight,” Max chuckled in disbelief. “I can sit on your fucking face but asking for a relationship is too much? What the actual fuck, David?”

“I don’t want a relationship, Max!” David said in frustration. 

“You don’t want a relationship,” Max echoed. 

“You know it’s not possible for me,” David said quietly. 

“Yeah but we can still be in a relationship and not tell anyone,” Max pointed out desperately. “We can make it work.”

“No,” David said. 

“No?” Max blinked. 

He had thought David would say yes. He had been so fucking sure that David would say yes. 

But he was wrong. 

He knew David’s situation was complicated. But for some reason he had assume he was the one. 

That one guy David would give up everything for. But apparently that wasn’t him. 

“I’m not worth it?” Max asked. 

“Max, this isn’t about you-”

“It is about me!” Max argued. “If you love me, then you would fight for me-”

“It’s not that simple!” David yelled. “I don’t get to fight, Max. Not for you. Not for anyone.”

“What are you gonna do then?” Max asked. “Never be with someone you actually have a future with?”

David didn’t respond to that.

"Good morning," Max said awkwardly, wondering if he had morning breath or some shit.

He usually didn't care about stuff like that. But when you are in bed with a literal prince, you gotta start giving a shit about things like that.

"Good morning," David smiled.

"Where you, like, staring at me?" Max chuckled, feeling nervous for some reason.

He wasn't nervous last night.

Last night was fun. Max was good at having fun.

He wasn't very good at this. Whatever this was.

David opened his mouth and closed it, looking suddenly hesitant and worried.

"What?" Max asked.

"Nothing."

"What?" he asked again.

"May I touch your hair?" David asked in a whisper.

"Bro," Max laughed, unable to stop himself. "You were literally pulling it last night and-"

"Well, that's different," David mumbled.

"Is it?"

"Yes."

"How?"

"I was caught up in the throes of passion," David explained.

"The throes of what?" Max laughed. "Who is teaching y'all english?"

David rolled his eyes at that. "You are making fun of me again."

"Aw," Max said, feeling soft for some reason. Weird. "I was kidding, dude."

"Could you stop calling me 'bro' and 'dude'?" David asked him. "It's very unsettling."

"What else would I call you then?" Max asked.

He had a couple of suggestions. But he didn't want to say them out loud.

Not yet.

"David," the boy told him. "Or Your Highness."

"Oh, I'm not calling you that," Max scoffed. "I can call you babygirl though."

"That's even worse!"

"How is that worse?

"Because I'm neither a baby nor a girl," David pointed out. "It's the same as calling you...sugar plum or sweetie pie."

Max laughed at the ridiculousness of the argument. David suddenly looked all soft. Max didn't know why.

But he couldn't help but smile. "You can."

"Hmm?"

I'm still in shock after watching RWRB omg. It was cheesy, sappy, chaotic... I loved every second of it🥺🥺🥺🥺

This day has been INTENSE! So coming here to just read all the asks and the snippets helped me relax a little!

First of all I'm loving the drama of cheater Alec. I'm having tlnd flashbacks when people said there was no way malec would get a divorce and we ended up with that precious gem!!! Ngl I'm kinda excited for it...what I just love your malec fics so much!?!

Don't even get me started at this ials. I am still processing all of it😭😭 but that deserves another ask when I'm not that sleep deprived

So yeah. I had a weird fucking night. My high school best friend (and probably first love-crush) who I hadn't talked to in months and haven't called in probably more than a year and a half, just called me tonight.

I kinda ignored the fist call because my heart was beating a little bit faster than usual for some reason...

Well, she was drunk and she just asked me if she sounded bad and what should she do. I gave her some instructions and made sure she was with someone and she just ended the call apologizing, and when I told her it was ok and she should call me if something happened she just said "love you" and damn did that hit kinda hard...

And also later her friend called me through her phone and assured me she was safe and thanked me for worrying, and she told me she would call me if anything happened. That my friend had broken up with her boyfriend and she drank a little too much but that she was ok. And I don't fucking know why before we ended the call I told her "take care of her for me". She promised me she would and I wanted to cry a little ngl.

Maybe it's just that for the first time it felt too real. That we were both different and had different lives that we no longer had a part on. She had a boyfriend I didn't know of and a new best friend. I also have people in my life she doesn't know. It felt sad. I guess that's normal.

But anyway, I'm done mopping around here. I also got a weird text from a friend but I'm just gonna pretend I fell asleep and didn't see it. Too much weirdness for a day😂
