Notes:
Good capture of Halloween! This was filmed on the aisle so you can see some people getting up and walking around at times. LOTS of latecomers during ready set I had to get up to let people into the row, so there is no video there. The guy in front of me wouldn't stop moving so his head can come in and out of frame at times but it's always worked around.

Nice Capture of the new non-equity tour! There can be a head in the way at some points but it's worked around well. The video can be somewhat grainy at times due to how far I was + how dark the show was. Overall a great video of this incredible cast.

Portland’s TAR PIT Surface with Dank ‘Tomb of Doom’
~By Jaden McGinnis~
A pale, ghoulish figure
Stares at me
Angry with the world
Awakened from his lasting sleep
Wow. I can't believe we got to close out the old year and usher in a new one with this powerful of a release. The full-length debut by Portland, Oregon's TAR PIT makes me want to turn the volume up 'till my speakers blow!
'Tomb Of Doom' (2019) is something that would go right next to my Trouble records. The primitive doom sound and aesthetic is nailed here. The live experience of these songs translated real well, too. These five guys are obviously well rehearsed and ready to devastate any crowd. I can hear so many influences on this record, from Candlemass to Saint Vitus to Iron Claw. Even early Pentagram has a clear voice in the sound of the band. Not that it's a riff-for-riff flashback, but a well-honed recipe for their own sludgy melting pot. And done well, at that.
Tomb Of Doom by Tar Pit
Album Art by Joey Rivera
The opening track, "Rune," starts with a literal Tar Pit of sound, dooming your ears completely off. Stephen Hoffman (formerly of Spirit Division) really belts out the guitar solos as the album chugs along. Each is different and well thought out, on top of being an expression of the guitar player's soul. All the songs are heavy and so good that it's hard to believe this is a debut album.
This record isn't overproduced or too polished, and I like where Mathew Ortega's vocals sit. Vocals can be hard to like, but this is killer. Dude has talent and a great sound. It's as if they were recorded in a dungeon with rotting corpses everywhere (not too far a stretch, as guitarist Brandon Martinez-Woodall and drummer Derek Johnson come to us by way of the grisly Portland death crew Coffin Rot). Keep your eyes peeled for the cassette, coming in March!
