I've started making lucky stars! I think I've got the hang of them now. I have to keep the folds loose so they can become puffy.
I also made a masu box to keep them in and stuck two of my beginning ones to it (the other one is on the other side of the box).

As much as I love the new 'Origami' mechanic, limited really gets to feel samey when every-other game ends when somebody folds their whole board into cranes to swing in. I know you cant say much... But with the keyword officially being evergreen moving forward, is there anything in the pipeline to encourage other play patterns?
Crane is just the white/blue archetype.
Other options:
Blue/black - Fortune Teller
Black/red - Hat
Red/green - Swan
Green/white - Lotus flower
White/black - Butterfly
Blue/red - Water balloon
Black/green - Masu box
Red/white - Heart
Green/blue - Jumping frog

This biscuit box made out of an Origami Masu box has a parachute in order to make it land more softly when it falls. However, it didn't work, the biscuits broke. I imagined the box to fall elegantly like a leaf performing a dance on its way to the ground. The parachute wasn't big enough though.

Origami
I signed up for the origami workshop within this workshop we learned how to make a masu box and then a lid. We were taught how to change the size of the box while still using the same size paper. We then divided into teams and were given the task of creating a functional box to hold three biscuits in. The box had to be sustainable with as little waste as possible and protect the biscuits from damage. My group achieved this by putting on masu box inside another then placing shredded paper inside. The shredded paper acted as a very effective protective layer and also a functional use for a waste product. We then placed two lids over the box and decorated them with markers. Each group explained Their design to the rest and then the boxes were dropped from a height to test their functionality to assess if the biscuits remained intact after falling. Our protective layer of shredded paper meant that our biscuits didn't break. I found this concept of using a paper box to protect something very interesting as paper is not usually the material we think of when it comes to keeping something safe from breaking or being stolen. Due to my project looking at valuable objects I thought it would be interesting to make a safe out of paper in the same way you would have safe for valuable antiques, jewelry or artwork.

Hey, thank you!
1. It is Friday! I have viewing party plans this weekend.
2. I started making origami. It turns out I like making cool little boxes, not animals. This is just a standard masu box but I like the pattern of the paper and that I found a use for it right away.

3. I am not normally a new year's resolution type of person but I'm doing some reading and taking an online class that make me excited for the stuff I'm learning this year.
4. We had a drain back up, but fixed it! Now I can wash dishes without anything bad happening. This sounds more like lack of a negative than a positive but it's great. I had a lot of family visiting recently and I can blame my dad, who is very enthusiastic about helping with dishes and also about using the garbage disposal, and not feel like it's my fault. And the backup happened after he left, and everyone had a good time. What a relief.
5. I put out a bird feeder and now I see and hear chickadees regularly instead of never! I'm so glad to have them back. I have semi-transparent blinds, and birds will land right next to me on the window sill and not know I'm there.

Monday 10th of October: origami workshop with Ruth.
We learned how to make masu boxes as well as what key elements are part of design and what the point of it is.
Later we did a group activity where we each had to see if we could improve the design on set critea. This would be tested with biscuits which would be dropped grom a height to see if they would break.
My group focused on keep the biscuits safe rather than aesthetic

On the 10/10/22 I went to the origami workshop. I learned how to make a masu box out of paper. It was really interesting and fun to do as it is quite a precise art to do as each fold needs to be crisp. I learned how to make slight altercations during the process of making the origami masu box to make it slightly smaller or slightly bigger.

We did a group activity in which we needed to create a "biscuit tin" out of origami using the boxes we made or creating a new construction out of origami in which we put the biscuits so that they don't break when dropped by the lecturer. We used one of the masu boxes we made and put tissue into it so it would be like cushioning around the biscuit. We then made a slightly smaller masu box to go over the biscuits and then we had the lid to go over the box. We decided collectively as a group to put a parachute on it so that it would fall at a slower rate. 2 out of 3 biscuits survived. It was a great team bonding activity and it really made us think outside the box (no pun intended)
