So is it just me, or has Dreamworks been on a horror spree? First, the Last Wish with its horror elements about Death. Ruby Gillman had some unsettling scenes, like Ruby almost drowning to save Conor or when she jumped into the ocean a second time. They portrayed the ocean in a horror light. And some scenes like her running across the halls, all nervous, had this shaky and gloomy feel to it. Trolls 3 has a horror element to it with the Put Put Trolls in the golf course. The 1st Trolls did have some dark scenes that could've been horror if they put it in that light. And now Kung Fu Panda 4 is said to have some horror elements with their shape shifting villain.

Not complaining, I LOVE IT!!!! I WANT MORE!!! Dreamworks is starting to grow with their audience, and I hope other studio's follow soon. Adding horror to their films.

violetta thoughts pt 7

Do you ever just like, want to erase Tomas from the show's existence??? Like, I want to write him out earlier so that Violetta isn't still hung up on him and she isn't in a love triangle for 80 episodes. Buuuttttt, the ramifications ... what would season 2 even be??? Season 3 is a fever dream and I would much rather everyone not have stupid relationship drama but deep relationship "drama" called communication and working through issues MATURALLY- Could Diego break the bonds of a Leonetta that actually communicated and didn't have the trauma of such a love triangle?

This is basically me trying to save the Podemos scene from season 2, okay. That is like my all time favorite scene in the whole planet other than him teaching her to ride a bike or Leonetta's Te Creo. It is THE SCENE.

I just- AHHHH! I don't want drama but Season 2 kinda has to happen because as much as 13-year-old me hovered over that fast forward button, just waiting for Leonetta to reunite, I did like it for what it was

What do you think of the whole “It’s made for kids” or “It’s dumbed down for kids” for anything, including games for this blog’s subject, to reason why things, especially modern things, aren’t as “mature” or whatever?

The "made for kids" label is a very real thing, but most laymen misunderstand its purpose and often treat it as a pejorative. When used in an argument, is yet another equivalent of saying "I don't like this" while trying to make their opinions feel or sound more valid. Making products like games for children is actually quite specific, because children are not small adults, they are completely different beasts from a cognitive and self-awareness perspective.

Young children (e.g. ages 1 to 13) actually go through tremendous changes year over year in terms of cognitive development because they are growing and learning so quickly. A baby, for example, does not have the concept of object persistence yet - if an object leaves their sight, it ceases to exist for them. This is why peek-a-boo is so delightful for them - when you cover your face to play peek-a-boo, you stop existing to the child. Children can't really understand that other people exist and have their own separate thoughts and feelings before age six. The attention span of a four-year-old is much much shorter than a six-year-old.

This means that products aimed at children have a very specific targeted age window because of how differently each age group generally sees the world. The cognitive difference between a four-year-old and an eight-year-old is enormous, meaning that a game targeting four-year-olds are necessarily enormously different than games targeting eight-year-olds. This is what the "for kids" label generally means - these products are targeted at people with different levels of cognitive function.
