After being kidnapped by the Demon King all she does is Sleep, or try to sleep. She won't stop at nothing to get a good night of sleep, including escaping her prison and decapitating monsters.

Aurora Sya Lis Goodreste, princess of the Kingdom of Goodreste, is a relentless force of nature driven by one unshakeable goal: to not just sleep, but to achieve the best, most comfortable sleep possible. She can quickly fall asleep almost anywhere, even in the most perilous of situations, but prizes quality of sleep above all else. Although kidnapped and held captive by the Demon King Twilight, this has done nothing to sway her from her obsession - to the point that breaking free of her cell, terrorizing the Demon King's minions, and crafting ever-more-superior bedding from their remains is a daily routine to her. So recklessly dedicated is she to the pursuit of a good night's sleep that she has lost all fear of death, having died and been resurrected several times during the course of her misadventures. Despite all this, Syalis has grown close to the monsters of the Demon King Castle, and - when not hunting them down for bedding materials - will often help them with their issues because doing good deeds helps her sleep better, too. Other miscellaneous Princess Syalis facts: her weapon of choice is a giant pair of scissors. She is especially fond of the Teddy Demons, who have grown so attached to her in turn that they'll readily do her bidding. She actually has a very strong work ethic (because the sooner she finishes all her work, the sooner she can go to sleep). She is self-conscious of her short tongue. She seems to have some form of face blindness, as she mostly tells people apart by their clothing.

Sya spends her entire captivity in the Demon Castle wreaking havoc in order to sleep the most and best she ever has. Her sleepiness is not only in her own name ("Sya" is like "zzz" in Japanese), but in the title of her entire series!

she just wants to sleep in the most comfortable fashion possible. that's it. that's the plot. also she is a menace when she is awake.

The entire anime revolves around the princess of the human kingdom trying to get a good night's sleep! She uses a demon's horns to sand something down & is more of a threat to the demons than them to her most of the time. Also, her interactions with the hero trying to save her are hilarious

She spends every episode just trying to get the best sleep possible. She will see something she believes will be so so so comfy and risk her entire well being to get to the comfy spot. Bonus demons working to ensure she gets what she wants because they are scared of her even though they took her prisoner.

Her main goal in life is to sleep. She causes utter chaos just so she can get a good sleep. She destroys parts of the demon castle, kills demons(there's a guy who revives them so this isn't permanent) and occasionally dies in order to get bedding material for a good sleep.

This girl will literally kill for some rest.

Jade Harley:

She has narcolepsy due to some meddling from another character, but it's narcolepsy nonetheless. She spends a lot of time sleeping, but that does hold her back as she's able to get a lot done on Prospit (a sort of dream world). She cares a lot about her friends and has a lot of interests like nuclear physics, cartoons, her dog, and being a markswoman.

She loves sleeping and dreaming!

She's got narcolepsy (....kinda, it's complicated) so for most of her initial appearances that girlie is just off in sleepy town, absolute snoozeville. Also I have great respect for her ability to look so comfy while sleeping in objectively uncomfy places, like a greenhouse floor

sometimes the world just needs a sleepy whimsical puppy girl. that's how it is

she falls asleep at random moments, and she has a robot that acts out her dreams for her so she doesn't sleepwalk and potentially get hurt, but the effect of this is her online friends aren't always sure when chatting with her whether she's awake or asleep. they don't tend to realize they're talking to dreambot jade until she says something completely bizarre and nonsensical, but then sometimes she says strange and silly things while awake because she's a very silly girl (/positive) and trying to parse whether a thing she said is just her being silly vs her being asleep can be difficult. also she sometimes has visions of real events happening somewhere or some*when* else in her sleep.

💕🎀Maōjō de Oyasumi Fanart 🎀💕

This is one of my favorite "no brain, just laughing" animes.

Basicly, a princess was abducted by the king of demons, and she spends her days trying to get some good sleep, inconveniencing the demons along the way.

Like I said, it's not a life-changing anime, but it's perfect to turn off your brain.

I didn't get the essence of the princess, sadly. 😭 She looks way older than in the series, but anyway. 😓

So I watched Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle

Honestly, I saw the title and cover art for this anime and I thought it was going to be another lame isekai and/or generic fantasy anime that has a clickbait hook and nothing more. I was surprised to see that this had one mean hook. Don't judge an anime by its cover!

This is the funniest comedy anime I've seen all year. Seven Scissors had some fantastic humor show, but the humor isn't why I liked that show. This anime however, the comedy is absolutely what I liked the most. It is a comedy focused anime after all.

Originally, I was worried because the premise is basically roght in the title. The princess is being held hostage at the demon castle, but she values a good sleep above everything else. So she'll start a quest for a good sleep despite being a hostage in a demon castle. While funny, you would think a joke like this would get old.

Not only does the anime manage to not wear out its own joke, but the joke actually gets better as the story progresses. To keep the joke from gettong stagnant, this anime utilizes the art of having actually good writing. Characters including almost all of the demons go through character development and new events happen to shake up the status quo.

Speaking of the status quo, time to talk about my only issue with the show. Sometimes the princess will achieve something that should change her living situation, but sometimes the show will reset her to the status quo without actually showing how. You gotta fill up that gap with your own ideas and really, that should only affect you if you're binge watching.

That's my only issue, I love everything else about the anime. It's real funny and doesn't rely on trope-y humor either. It consistently managed to catch me off guard even during predictable moments. Oh, and that good writing I mentioned before? That includes a very good plot and great world building as well. The reason for the princess' kidnapping is really interesting and the world parodies a generic fantasy RPG. There's even game mechanics the characters use very often so it's not like every other isekai/fantasy series that does this.

The animation is done by Doga Kobo as well. I really love Doga Kobo's character animation and they do a phenominal job here too. The animation stays at such a nice quality the whole time as well. Great work.

Sleepy Princess is the easiest recommendation to an anime I've ever had to make in my entire life. There's nothing here I would warn anyone about. It's just a good friendly time. If you slept on this show last year go back and watch it. It's definitely one of the best anime of 2020.

I hope it gets a season 2, that ending was amazing and it could stop there, but it leaves itself SO open for a season 2. I want iiiiiiit.

Doraemon Sneaks into 18 Manga Series This Week

  It's Doraemon's 50th anniversary, and he's taking the party everywhere—this week, he's walking through the pages of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday!

  The most recent issue of the shonen manga mag will feature Doraemon and his friend Nobita traveling through 18 of the 28 titles currently run between the covers. Some of their appearances will be more overt, like the trip through Doraemon's dimension-hopping Anywhere Door in Maojo de Oyasumi (seen above). At other times they'll be hiding around the margins, as in Sobotei Kowasubeshi:

    Weekly Shonen Sunday editors say fans will have to be sharp-eyed and read cover to cover, as many of Doraemon's cameos are very hard to find.

  The hunt begins in the most recent issue, currently on newsstands in Japan:

    The issue will also include a comicalization of the first Doraemon film, Nobita's Dinosaur:

    This isn't the first Doraemon hijacking hosted by Shogakukan. The publisher currently has plans for the children's character to appear on 50 of their magazine covers throughout the year.
