How much distance is there between an ordinary fear of death and the extraordinary Fear(tm) of The End? Because I feel like Oliver's is the least strange of the domains and (as he argues) the world's only source of mercy.

I mean, at least its victims don't have to deal with the American healthcare-industrial complex. (Or do they? Maybe one of The End's special tortures is US health insurance.)

It makes me sad how it seems like Oliver is the only one to understand Jon’s position completely. Martin tries his best of course but he never surpassed that threshold of becoming just as much like their Patron as Jon and Oliver have. (Which might also emphasize his jealousy xD)

Oliver’s report isn’t accusatory or sympathetic, he just states the situation they are in as he understands it. Oliver is forced to see everyone’s end, Jon is forces to see everyone’s suffering. It’s not as simple a choice as “compelling a victim’s statement out of them vs. reading a stale one.” He CAN’T anymore! He knows and sees everything people are experiencing! The roots have woven themselves so tightly around Oliver that he sees and knows how what people are experiencing is going to have to push them towards the End sooner or later!

Oliver didn’t ask for this anymore than Jon did, and he knows that. He’s just glad that the suffering — as all things do — will end eventually.

Out of all the Avatars we meet I feel like Oliver would be the one who really could relate to Jon the most. I wish they could have been friends, or for an AU where he sticks around after the coma to help Jon adjust.

I also just want more Oliver content so I may be biased.
