I feel like if I heard about a public works project that was seven years late and ten times over budget I'd be like "lol this is a disaster". And then if it opened but had problems limiting its use that took another three years to fix I'd be like "lol told you so".

But apparently that's what happened with Hubble, and now it's been up there for 30 years so joke's on me I guess? I dunno, I guess I've never questioned whether it's worth what we spent and (as a separate question) are still spending, but at any rate I don't hear anyone complain.

This made me think of Berlin's new airport, which was supposed to open in 2011 and last I heard was still under construction. Turns out it opened in 2020, about 3-4x over budget, and they moved all flights there from the two existing airports. (Schönefeld and Tegel - I flew to Schönefeld a few times for LWCW, guess I'm gonna have to learn to plan trips from somewhere else.) My default assumption here is that it's going to be a disaster, but... eh, I probably shouldn't be too confident.

The entrance of the cave was closed! This cave has been seen in two of our music videos. I had just been thinking about the possibility of filming parts of another video there. I don't know what they are going to do to the cave. Now it looks boring and ugly. I am very disappointed.
