Its founder and CEO, Boyan Slat, said the company’s current cleanup platform, System 002, had collected 101,353kg of plastic since being deployed in August 2021. The cleanups swept a 3,000 square kilometer area of the Pacific, roughly equivalent to the size of Rhode Island or Luxembourg.

An estimated 3,726 to 5,578 tigers currently live in the wild worldwide — up 40% from 2015, according to a new tiger assessment from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Tigers are still considered endangered and remain on the IUCN’s Red List, which assesses endangered species.
3. Fourth patient seemingly cured of HIV
Tumblr media
A man who has lived with HIV since the 1980s seems to have been cured in only the fourth such case, say doctors. He was given a bone marrow transplant to treat blood cancer leukaemia from a donor who was naturally resistant to the virus.
The 66-year-old, has stopped taking HIV medication. He said he was “beyond grateful” the virus could no longer be found in his body. The man is known as the “City of Hope” patient after the hospital where he was treated in Duarte, California.
4. Pennsylvania nurses receiving student debt cancellation
Tumblr media
Nurses across Pennsylvania will begin receiving notifications next week about whether they are eligible for a share of the $55 million the state is making available to lower or erase their student loan debt.
The money for Pa. Student Loan Relief for Nurses Program comes out of state’s share of federal American Rescue Plan funds. This one-time offer will relieve selected state-licensed nurses who cared for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic at a Pennsylvania health care facility of up to $7,500 of student loan debt.
5. This beautiful blue parrot has returned to the wild 2 years after being declared extinct
Tumblr media
After teetering on the edge of extinction, the beautiful Spix’s macaw has made its return to the wild, over two decades after the last bird was seen in nature. Eight of the bright blue parrots have been released into a protected nature reserve in Brazil.
“They’re doing absolutely wonderful. So far there is 100 per cent survival. The birds are all staying together as a group… They’re staying in around the release area. And they’re also beginning to forage on natural occurring foods,” biologist Tom White told The Current guest host Duncan McCue.
6. New research shows that signs of Alzheimer’s can be found in blood 17 years before symptoms begin.
Tumblr media
A newly developed immuno-infrared sensor allowed researchers to discover biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease in blood samples 17 years before clinical symptoms appeared.
The goal is to determine the risk of developing Alzheimer’s dementia at a later stage with a simple blood test even before the toxic plaques can form in the brain, in order to ensure that a therapy can be initiated in time.

A pioneering drone lifeguard has saved a 14-year-old boy from drowning in the sea in Valencia in Spain.
The drone lifeguard service, which has been rolled out across Spanish beaches, dropped a life vest into the sea this month that was able to keep the teenager afloat just as he started to sink, its operators have said. “I’m so confused is Balthasar spelt with a Z or a S? Did they make a mistake in the announcement when posting? It just seems so messy and informal. Should have left the first announcement (and only announcement IMHO) to be shared by official Cour Grand Ducal accounts and statement and not a winery you own. Cute kid though 💕” - Submitted by Anonymous
“Y’all it took the Luxembourgs and their staff plus staff from Claire’s family winery over 24 hours to realize that Balthazar was misspelled 😩💀” - Submitted by Anonymous
“It wouldn’t be the Luxembourg Royal Family if they didn’t do one thing messy and embarrassing. It took how many adults from the Royal Family, tax payer funded staff plus Felix and Claire’s winery staff and over 24 hours to realize that BalthaZar was spelled incorrectly. All original announcements were misspelled. The British Royal Family is a lot of things and so are their staff, but they’re not this incompetent. Luxembourg royals would never stand a chance if they were part of the BRF. -sincerely Lux tax payer sick of this nonsense” - Submitted by Anonymous

⭐️𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐞⭐️ 🐰⚓️🛡️⚔️🍿🎦 Coming 2025! Matthew GoodE is the voice of Walter the Rabbit, whose alter ego is “Sir Balderdash” the dashing knight! Photo: David Freedman/Fabrique d’images
The NEW Project is a "family-oriented feature Tally Ho! (also known as Spiked), a co-production staged by Luxembourg’s Fabrique d’images with French and British partners. Penned by David Freedman and Jules de Jongh, it revolves around Holly, a young and courageous hedgehog. The picture is budgeted at around €7.3 million." (Cineuropa) In 2022. Film Fund Luxembourg awarded a production grant of the biggest magnitude (€3 million) for this project. Matthew and the other voice cast recorded earlier in March, right before filming Freud's Last Session in Ireland.
There is a wonderful connection to A Discovery of Witches though. Holly is voiced by Kíla Lord Cassidy, who is the daughter of Elaine Cassidy and Stephen Lord. Her mother plays Louisa de Clermont, Matthew's sister in season 2!

Tally Ho is directed by Caroline Origer (My Fairy Troublemaker 2022). More details from Kasper Animation here. "TALLY HO! A fun and engaging family adventure, which reveals the consequences of taking and making a family from someone else’s and expecting love, rather than earning it.
Holly is a lonely 10-year old orphan living in a lighthouse with her overbearing twin brother, desperate to be part of a real family full of fun and adventure.
She’d really like to be part of Walter’s 52-strong rabbit family next door. But Walter is feeling the weight of family responsibility on his shoulders and has his own dreams of a different life through the comic adventures of a Chivalrous Knight in the graphic novel he reads.
One fateful day Holly witnesses an accident on the nearby busy road. Walter is hit by a car. Remarkably he appears unhurt but he’s lost his memory.
Holly comes to the rescue but soon sees an opportunity to feed a lie – Walter is Holly’s adopted father and they are on an adventure. But the lie quickly escalates and Walter’s deep down desires of his own adventures takes on a twist as he convinces himself he is “Sir Balderdash” the dashing knight from his favourite comic books.
So, the questing begins but this is not a comic book and reckless adventuring has consequences." Coming 2025.

Who is Alexander that got recently married and he is already cheating?
Fans of continent royals are pissed that British royals got all the attention and theirs get nothing. Ignoring the fact that less attention means less criticism. Harry and Meghan teared to pieces for getting a free house costing millions. Meanwhile Fred and Mary had a secret house in Switzerland paid for by taxpayers for years.(I am glad that Dutch still has a memory of WA and Maxima's covid fiasco.)
Ufo no more makes clear how they add the cost of clothes. And of course she wanted to tell us that Yorks get discounts but no word to support other royals that do it because they are lower than Kate. The absolutely funny was when she tried to explain the economies of Monaco and Luxembourg to her followers 🤣 (Someone must tell her that Albert personally owns most rich companies of Monaco.) While she didn't remember the influence Kate has in British fashion industry, that a golden dress contributed to JP return after lockdown. That unlike Mary Kate must wear new clothes. And of course we still remember the scandal with her clothes.
Someone told me he married another someone whose aristo title is fake. Places full of pretenders if you ask me, I have no clue about them lmao.
Lmaooo the Chalet will always live in my mind rent free, no pun intended. And seriously we all criticised WaxMax to no ends when they decided holidaying during a pandemic was a good idea. But what would they know?
Oh god her basically saying the UK was poor? To british people?? Like listen, they have their problems like any other country but despite that, the wardrobe from the royals is not taxpayer funded and that's something that every sane royal fashion watcher knows. But anything to fit the narrative I guess.
