What do you consider important for getting the Luke voice right in fic? I figure you're the authority on the matter and I'm Struggling with the dialogue

oh anonnn... we are straight up just sorta winging it over here hahaha T_T well i will try to be as helpful as i can though, and lowkey cry a little im soo not an authority on anything fanfic haha

i think for me the most important things are just really small things like, nothing toooo american even though one can get away with a lot now that we have, The Internet. but things like.. "you lot" instead of "you guys", little things like that? even though its 2024 and not really so unlikely theyd say guys its just, not very british. in theory. tbh im so entrenched in The Online i only just recently realised we spell realise with an S not a Z. so 🤦

tbh you can cheat a little because g and luke are from the same place, talk in the same way (except luke uses way less filler and talks more clearly...) and make/laugh at the same kinds of jokes, so really, if you can hear g saying it youre probably good for luke (im sure this is some kind of cardinal fic writing sin but hey). luke is just Louder/clearer about whatever it is he's saying.

lukes a bit (at least in fanfic land i hope he never reads this) insecure so he masks a lot of what he thinks in jokes/sarcasm if that helps? he can be serious but its not natural (tony martin 2019 gate clip feels like watching him in detention at school 🥲 so awks)

WELL that feels not all that helpful 😭 but if its any consolation we are so harsh on ourselves us fanfic writers i bet your luke voice is great 👊👌 and yanno, you can always just wing it and hope for the best 😭
