I already said this a while back but I will say it again: It would’ve been so much narratively better if Link’s fight with Demise took place at Skyloft. 

One of the main issues I have with Skyward Sword is that The Skyloftians are super oblivious to the dangers throughout the entirely of the game. If they saw Demise they would get a grasp the danger that Link & Zelda were fighting against. 

Like instead of fighting Link in that void, Demise initially dismisses him and makes a beeline for the Gate of Time, but not before challenging Link to chase after him if he dared. Lets say Demise isn’t at full strength to use the Triforce so he heads over the Skyloft to cause trouble. The citizens are shocked & terrified. The Skyknights try to fight Demise, but the Evil God swats them away like insects.

Link gets back to Skyloft. If you thought Link was pissed when Ghirahim took Zelda, he be even more so seeing his home being attacked by monsters. Link, and maybe Groose & Impa, defends the citizens from Demise’s forces. In doing so inspires some Skyloftians (specifically maybe the ones from the Gratitude Crystal quests) to try to help Link fight back, proving Demise’s belief that humans being weaklings wrong. With his forces taken down Demise takes Link to an arena he crafted and they have their duel far from Skyloft but close enough for the citizens to see.

Link defeats Demise, much to the surprise to many of the Skyloftians. They couldn’t believe that Link, the sweet boy know to be an airhead, sleepy, and maybe lazy, killed the God with ferocity, and made it out alive

After that, the game would end the same as it did. Link & co returns to the Sealed temple to see Zelda alive, Fi & Impa saying their goodbyes, and Link & Zelda at the Goddess Statue.

Ganondorf x reader

Warning ⚠️ : none except for angst

They wiped away their tears and looked at ganondorf with a small smile "thank you for being there for me", ganondorf give them a smile in return, he gently put his forehead on their's and spoke "I would destroy hyrule for you". This surprised them but they shaked off the feeling he's just saying it metamorphicly right?.....right??

He helped them up

"okay, let's go patch you up"

He led them through the halls of the temple, the temple was decorated in beautiful embroidered silks and carvings on the wall depicteding battle that they have won. He stopped at a well furnished room "this is where you will stay at, I don't trust you going back to those... things". They could practically feel the rage in his tone it looks like he still is pissed off at what happened still, and by the look of things... he isn't going to give it up any time soon...

"I'll be back with some medical supplies to help mend those wounds" and he left only his footsteps could be heard walking away. They looked around at the gorgeous room, they were really starting to wish that their art supplies weren't broken. They sighed looking at their torn up leather bag, it looks like they were going to have to buy at the marketplace tomorrow. They looked at the mirror in the room.

They looked awful "wow who knew a bunch of farmers can do all this..." they said to them selves. A knock on the door could be heard, and ganondorf was back with medical supplies and new clothes

"am back and I got you some new clothes,

since yours is a bit worse for wear. Who knew farmers could do all that".

"That's what I said! " They both chuckled lightly, and the room was silent. It was hard for them both to just ignore the gravity of the situation. "Alright, let's get you patched up.." he spoked softly like if he was too loud everything could break everything. He wrapped the last bandages on their their arm "that should do it" he smiled. "Thank you for helping me out" they smiled back at him. "It's nothing, you are my love, and I would do anything for you" he moved some hair from their face, "and plus you we were going to live together eventually so might as well now" he tried to lighten the mood . They laid together in the bed looking at the ceiling.

"So..um..."

"What is it (y/n)?"

"Do you think a war will break out?"

Ganondorfs face gets very serious as he hears their question.. this is a very grim topic, a very serious topic.. it's a heavy question..

He seems to be carefully weighing his answer before he speaks

"... I do.. I feel like the lands are very much at risk.."

Ganondorfs eyes look over they sadly, a genuine sadness in them.. and then he sighs, before speaking again..

"... How about you? Do you feel like we are on the brink of war?"

They looked sadly looked at the ceiling. They sighed while their fingers combed their hair. " I feel like something horrible is coming but I don't know what it is..". Ganondorfs golden eyes glow as he stares off into the distance, his eyes full of sadness as he thinks about what they said.. he lets out another sigh

"... You're right.. I feel it too.. there's something coming.. I feel it in the wind.. I have no idea where it will come from, or what form it will take.. but I know it will come.."

He speaks very seriously the entire time

"... I just hope it won't devour us whole"

They got closer to him and hold his hand "listen if anything where to happen, I will give everything to keep you and these lands safe". Ganondorfs face lights up with kindness, as if this brings him a great hope.. he looks over at them and offers you a gentle smile.. his face seems incredibly sincere

"... Thank you.. you have no idea how much that means to me.."

Ganondorfs golden eyes shine bright, his face seems genuinely full of gratitude for what they said.. it seems that is a very heartfelt statement for him, and he can't help but offer a gentle smile in respect for what it means to him..

"... I.. I promise, I will never let you down"

They hugged each other, and both drifted off to sleep, knowing the comfort and safety in each other's arms. The artist woke up in a darkness only seeing embers of flames. They walked in the darkness, the ground felt like needles, and the atmosphere was heavy. Smoke of fire filled the air.. they could feel eye's watching them...

"I know you're watching me, show your self! I can see you...."

Out of the shadows... a muscler man walk out with his eyes and firey hair, darkness pulses through his body...it was demise.

"How can you see through my spell?" He seems just a bit surprised

"HAHAHA! I was lying and you fell for my bluff" they answered with a smirked.

Demise was amused by their response, "well done, enlighten me...what is your name"

"You first and maybe I'll do the same" even though they know this wasn't to fuck around with. But They talked like if they already knew him.

"Do you know who I am?", he seemed to be getting annoyed by their calmness to the situation.

"I won't lie, I do, but very little thanks to my culture always erasing all the negative stuff... but am an artist and like studying every type of art, including hieroglyphics.. You're demise... the true king of the demons..." they spoked in a serious tone.

Demise laughed coldly, "what the hell is a 'artist' doing in my prison?" Demise snarled.

They seemed to be taken aback, "wait...I thought this a dream.." Now it seemed to be taking it seriously.

"Well this is about to be a nightmare real soon" he charged toward them with his flaming blade in hand but before he could land a blow. They waked up...

How I feel about this character: 

RAWRRRRRRRRRRRRR I LOVE THAT GUY I LOVE PUTTING HIM IN SITUATIONS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. *Ahem.* He is a deeply complex character with a lot of emotional baggage from his role as a literal tool. He craves physical affection and reassurance. He LIVES for praise. Too bad the poor guy will never get it from Demise.

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

My non-romantic OTP for this character: 

Zelda! I think they would hate each other's guts at first, but eventually grow closer. (shamelessly stolen from Domestic Life)

My unpopular opinion about this character: 

He's asexual. It's clear from his character model that he has no "equipment" and I really just don't think he'd be fucking nasty-style with anyone even if he did. His excessive touchiness comes from his nature as a sword spirit- what is a blade meant to do but touch? He'd probably be down to use a strap if his partner wanted it, but Ghirahim himself doesn't crave sex.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

GIVE HIM A CLEAR FATE PLEASE the sparkly purple cloud of disappearing was a really shitty way to send him off. He's a great character who deserves a proper ending.

BoTW Ganon vs ToTK Ganondorf

I doubt that Ganondorf as we see him in TOTK was always intended to be written this way. When you look at The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Creating a Champion, it looks like Calamity Ganon was meant to be a continuation of the Ganondorf we saw in the Era of Time. The guide seems to reference the events of OoT.

“The kingdom of Hyrule flourishes under the Hyrulean royal family. Ganondorf, king of the Gerudo, transforms into Dark Beast Ganon and threatens Hyrule. The princess of Hyrule and the chosen hero combine their power to seal Ganon. In a seemingly endless cycle of darkness and light, Ganon continues to be revived and then sealed away […] Ganon, having long lost his reason, becomes Calamity Ganon, a pure incarnation of hatred and malice for the royal family of Hyrule and the chosen hero.” Creating a Champion, pp. 360 – 363.

This passage suggests that Calamity Ganon = OoT Ganondorf, or a degraded form of Ganondorf after he’s been revived and sealed away multiple times. But in TOTK it seems like the Calamity was just a manifestation of Ganondorf’s subconscious? And instead of TOTK Ganondorf recognizing Link and Zelda because of his memories from his past life, he only knows about them because of time travel shenanigans and Rauru hilariously throwing Link under the bus. Which, idk, is a bit underwhelming. I’d much prefer a Ganondorf who has a personal connection to the hero and princess and a major grudge against them. It would have been a proper continuation of not just BOTW, but previous games as well. Instead, TOTK basically gave us a rebooted version of Hyrule and made the timeline even more confusing than it already was.

In my opinion, Calamity Ganon >>> TOTK Ganondorf. Calamity Ganon felt like a literal ghost from Hyrule’s ancient past, haunting both the kingdom and the narrative itself, a perpetual reminder of Hyrule’s bloody history, and the last remnants of a broken man who has evolved/degraded to the point that he is now a force of nature that can destroy civilization overnight. That’s some good spooky shit. But TOTK Ganondorf? He’s just Some Guy who got dark powers seemingly out of nowhere, nabbed a magic stone, inexplicably became a demon and now wants to spread “eternal darkness” across Hyrule because of Reasons.

Sure, maybe those Reasons have to do with Demise’s curse – after all, this is Ganon’s first official appearance after Skyward Sword, so maybe they wanted to re-introduce him and officially incorporate that aspect of the lore into his origins. But TOTK never mentions Demise. None of the characters ever point out the fact that Ganon’s Demon King form looks like Demise. There’s no in-text justification for seeing TOTK’s Ganondorf as an agent in a larger cosmic struggle. The game itself doesn’t even reference the lore, it’s only the Zelda fandom that makes this connection.

Putting totk's dragon tears era directly after skyward sword is actually very interesting for Demise’s curse, because consider: this would be when it's at its most powerful. This would be the first "incarnation of my hatred", presumably the Ganondorf that carries the most of his power-- the secret stone boosting him to Demon King, if he already had ridiculous amounts of dormant power, isn't that hard to believe (especially since no other characters, even Zelda, went through a physical transformation upon receiving a stone)
