I just saw a post about Roman graffiti so of course I did a deep dive and read as much as I could find. Most of the lines I could find were insults, sexual, or about shitting, but one really stood out to me:
V.1.26 (House of Caecilius Iucundus); 4091: Whoever loves, let him flourish. Let him perish who knows not love. Let him perish twice over whoever forbids love.
And yeah, I could wax poetic about how this made me tear up or about the nature of humanity but really I just love that last line so much. The sentiment of it stands true today, let him perish twice over whoever forbids love.
