Lotte Jacobi (August 17, 1896 – May 6, 1990) was a leading American portrait photographer and photojournalist, known for her high-contrast black-and-white portrait photography, characterized by intimate, sometimes dramatic, sometimes idiosyncratic and often definitive humanist depictions of both ordinary people in American and Europe, as well as some of the most important artists, thinkers and activists of the 20th century. Hand signed by artist, inscribed with location and date of signature. Please see photos for more details on condition. Lotte Jacobi ( Thorn , Prusia (ahora en Polonia), 17 de agosto de 1896 - 6 de mayo de 1990) Fotógrafa alemana. Es una de las "grandes damas de la Fotografía" del siglo XX. Pasó parte de su vida en Berlín (1925-1935), la ciudad de Nueva York (1935-1955), a donde emigró para escapar de la Alemania nazi y Nueva Hampshire (1955-1990). Jacobi entró en el negocio de la fotografía de la familia en 1927. Durante este mismo período (1926-1927) comenzó su labor profesional como fotógrafa, y también produjo cuatro películas, la más importante es el Retrato del artista, un estudio de Josef Scharl. Lotte Jacobi ganó relieve después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial a través de sus retratos de personajes famosos del siglo XX ya que sus retratos relatan la "crónica de una era." "Mi estilo es el estilo de la gente que fotografío", dijo Jacobi . Sus retratos fotográficos fueron los que la hicieron famosa, retrató entre otros aWystan Hugh Auden, Martin Buber, Marc Chagall, W. E. B. Du Bois, Albert Einstein,Robert Frost, Käthe Kollwitz, Lotte Lenya, Peter Lorre, Thomas Mann, Max Planck,Eleanor Roosevelt, J. D. Salinger, Alfred Stieglitz y Chaim Weizmann.
