Vertical farming, like most new industries, is extremely noisy. To add to the confusion, most of today's vertical farmers are new to agriculture in general and may not have a reference point when making decisions. Need a mantra for the week? FOCUS ON TRYING TO DO ONE THING WELL. A common pitfall of many vertical farmers (or any #entrepreneur) is attempting to do too many things at once. New farmers must understand they have only one goal: Sell good food. Everything else comes second. Farmers who waste time on unproven systems or tinkering with their own tech instead of acquiring customers will ultimately end up out of business due to losing sight of their core objective: Selling food. Yes, finding a system with good economic potential is absolutely crucial to building a sustainable business. No doubt about it. At the end of the day, however, the farm isn't enough. What's indoor farming all about? ••• That's a question on a lot of people's minds lately and the answer is can get a little complicated. Indoor farming brings serious advantages to today's tech savvy #farmers such as controlling the growing environment which helps to stabilize temperatures, humidity levels, lighting requirements, and more to improve plant health and make production more consistent. It also means more flexibility with WHERE food can be grown because #indoorfarms aren't susceptible to the climate constraints or variability that conventional farms are, giving them the ability to grow all year long. But what does this really mean to you and me? It means thanks to generous modern farmers and advances in growing technology), indoor farms are creating access to #betterfood everywhere and giving us all more trustworthy produce options at the market or in local restaurants.
