Juhani DOES NOT have a canon age. Please stop spreading misinformation that claims she has one.
I have seen it happened more than once that someone claims Juhani is canonically at a certain age during the events of KotOR, usually by claiming Juhani is only a teenager in KotOR, so I have to make this post to debunk it. There was already a post in the KotOR tags containing this misinformation that have been reblogged or believed by others without question. I would like people to stop spreading misinformation that claims to be canon.
The truth is: Juhani's age is never confirmed in any official sources. Anyone who claims otherwise is misrepresenting information from Wookieepedia and the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide.
Juhani's age is never mentioned in the KotOR game itself. She mentioned in one of her conversations that she was a baby when her parents took her to escape the Mandalorians' attack on the Cathar homeworld. However, the game itself never stated how long ago did Mandalorians attack on the Cathar homeworld happen.
Juhani's article on Wookieepedia lists her birth year as "By 3973 BBY". It does not mean exactly 3973 BBY. In fact, that detail on Juhani's article has a footnote explaining it:
Juhani was born prior to the Battle of Cathar, an event that Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide dates to 3973 BBY, which means she must have been born in or before that year.
Note the word "or before" here, which means even the article itself does not pinpoint exactly when Juhani was born. Speculation of Juhani's age merely comes from the date of the Battle of Cathar in the KotOR Campaign Guide, which was released after both KotOR games. As I mentioned above, the KotOR game itself does not mention exactly how long ago did the Battle of Carhar happen.
Please double-check your sources before spreading information that you think is canon.

I wrote a public statement on my website about my stance in protecting Juhani's status as an officially confirmed lesbian character whose romance is exclusive to female characters, and opposing making Juhani a romance option for male characters under any circumstances, including mods that make Juhani straight or bi.
This writing started out as part of the FAQ article for my same-gender romance mods for the KotOR series, which has been moved from Nexus Mods to my website, so I have more control in the article's formatting. When I was updating the FAQ article, the part about my response to the question about if I would make Juhani a romance option for male Revan in my Alternate Revan Romances REDUX mod got longer, so I decided to make it its own article, with the additional benefit of me being able to just link to this article instead of repeating my points over and over when the subject comes up.
Anyone can reblog this post, but I will block lesbophobes who try to argue with me to defend the idea of making Juhani a romance option for male characters.

We all know a lot of KotOR 2 companions hate each other and they only stick together out of loyalty to the Exile, but honestly, I think it’s debatable if the KotOR 1 companions really get along that much better than the KotOR 2 ones.
A lot of the K1 party members' banters, like Carth & Mission, Bastila & Mission, Carth & Canderous, Bastila & Canderous, have them arguing with each other as well. Granted, Carth & Mission apologize to each other in their second banter, but the fact remains that KotOR 1 party members argue with each other as well.
A cut (EDIT: it is not actually cut, just extremely easy to miss) conversation between Juhani and the player character has Juhani expresses her dislike of Canderous, given the Mandalorians’ genocide of the Cathar people, which was the reason Juhani and her family fled to Taris.
Not to mention, if you choose the Dark Side ending, the crew falls apart very quickly. Dark Side Bastila is perfectly okay with a Dark Side Revan slaughtering her former crew mates. Also Canderous, T3 and HK, the only other companions who still stick with a Dark Side Revan, do nothing to defend the other companions who get murdered by a Dark Side Revan in front of them.
IMO, the only reason one may feel that the KotOR 1 companions get along better, is that the K1 crew has a clearer common goal to stick together, which is to stop Malak, since Malak operates more openly than the Sith Triumvirate.

Confession: Although I still ship Female Revan, including my Revan, with Bastila, I have decided that I do not use Female Revan x Bastila mods anymore.
I always have issues with how Bastila’s romance in-game involves the (male) player character being very pushy in a lot of the romance dialogue, and not respecting Bastila’s boundaries when she expresses doubts about being romantically involved with the PC, but I used the Romancing of Bastila mod in my previous playthroughs so Female Revan could kiss Bastila as well.
However, now that I am having my first KotOR replay without using any Female Revan x Bastila mods in years, I am reminded that Female Revan and Bastila already have a lot of chemistry without the kiss and those romance lines, so I have decided that I do not need Revan x Bastila mods anymore.
Even without any gay romance mods, Female Revan can still tease Bastila that her face is "all scrunched up like a kinrath pup" in one of their conversations, and Bastila still says she has come to depend on the Female Revan near the end of her conversation arc.
I suspect that Bastila’s romance in-game was written that way because she was meant to be a romance option for male PCs (only), and BioWare has serious problem with the concept of female love interests challenging or threatening the male PC’s power expertise and power fantasy.

Juhani is a Canon Lesbian Character; Juhani is not Bisexual
I am making this post because despite the fact that Juhani from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a canon lesbian character is already a fairly common knowledge among LGBT fans of Star Wars, I have seen some people who actually believe that Juhani is bisexual; some even go as far as saying that calling Juhani a lesbian is bi erasure.
Therefore, as someone who has made mods for the Knights of the Old Republic games and written a detailed Juhani romance guide, I would like to present hard evidence from the game files to point out that Juhani is in fact a lesbian, a woman who is EXCLUSIVELY attracted to women.
The most crucial evidence comes from k_hjuh_dialog.dlg, Juhani’s main dialogue file which contains all the conversations covered in my Juhani Romance Guide. If you use KotOR Tool to browse the game files, k_hjuh_dialog.dlg is under KotOR I > BIFs > templates.bif > Dialog. I recommend using DLGEditor to view the .dlg files from KotOR games.
Here is a screenshot of my DLGEditor with the most relevant part of the k_hjuh_dialog.dlg file:
Tumblr media
(Click here to see a larger, un-cropped version of this screenshot)
The highlighted dialogue shown in the screenshot (”I feel I must apologize for the way I acted towards you before, in the grove. It was wrong of me.”) is the beginning of your first personal conversation with Juhani after Juhani joins your party (here’s my YouTube video for this conversation). As shown in the screenshot above, once you begin this conversation, the script k_hjuh_p17 will fire, and this is the source of the script in question:
void main() {    int iGender = GetGender(GetPCSpeaker());
   if (iGender == GENDER_FEMALE)    {        SetGlobalBoolean("T_JUHANIROM", TRUE);    } }
(In KotOR Tool, you can see the source script  k_hjuh_p17.nss under  KotOR I > BIFs > scripts.bif > Script, Source)
As you may have guessed from the above script, k_hjuh_p17 sets the Global Boolean T_JUHANIROM to TRUE if, and ONLY IF, the player character is female. The T_JUHANIROM global is used by the game to check if Juhani’s romance is active or not. In other words, the game activates Juhani’s romance ONLY IF your player character is female, as soon as you start Juhani’s personal conversation after she joins your party. If your player character is male, Juhani’s romance will NOT be activated.
If this is not hard enough evidence that Juhani is a lesbian, a woman who is EXCLUSIVELY attracted to women, and she is NOT bisexual, I don’t know what to tell you.
The KotOR game used to have a bug that allowed male player characters to access Juhani’s romance, which is probably why some thought that Juhani is bisexual. HOWEVER, the bug had been fixed in later patches. By fixing the bug, the game has made sure that ONLY a female player character can romance Juhani.
Even though the word “lesbian” or “gay” is never used in any of the KotOR games, it does not change the fact that Juhani is a woman character who can only be romanced by a woman player character, which means Juhani is gay, a lesbian.
In conclusion, Juhani is a canon lesbian character and has always been intended to be such. Juhani is NOT bisexual. Calling Juhani a lesbian is not bi erasure because she is not bi. In fact, claiming Juhani is bi would be erasing the identity of the very first confirmed lesbian character in any Star Wars media, including the old Star Wars EU in which KotOR is part of. Also, if you ship Juhani with any man, or making or using any mods to allow male characters to romance Juhani, you are homophobic and lesbophobic because you are erasing Juhani’s lesbian identity.

I’m definitely one of the people who hate that in the Star Wars Legends canon, Revan was a cishet white dude, because there’s absolutely nothing new about cishet white dudes being protagonists and heroes in any media ever. However, consider how the woman leads of the Star Wars movies, except for The Clone Wars movie, have been exclusively white women, I do not find the idea of the canon version of Revan being a white woman revolutionary, especially if her love interest is Carth, who is also white. As a lesbian of color, men/woman pairings that involve only white people bore me to tears.
Instead, consider this much more radical concept: Making the canon version of Revan a woman of color with Juhani as her love interest. The Star Wars franchise needs more women of color as protagonists and heroes. Not to mention that even though Juhani’s romance is quite tricky to trigger in the KotOR game, Juhani is still an actual romance option for lady Revan, and Juhani deserves more love. Reminder that Juhani was the very first confirmed lesbian character in any Star Wars canon ever, including the Legends canon.
