Grotty Club Dance floor

We all know that 1 club that every town or city has. You know the one. No doors on the toilets. You stick to the floor. Someone's dropped their Johnny and its now glued to the floor with booze, vomit and god knows what other fluids.

Well, this is my interpretation of that. Created on MDF, I began with painting a classic black and white tiled dance floor but made it wonky to capture the drunkenness of it. The warped vision you get when you'd had 1 too many j2Os.

The idea came about by coming across videos on tik Tok of nightclubs posting what they find in the club after hours and it just amused and intrigued me. Elf bars, condoms, face masks, baggies etc. So I decided to use those as my props. I created a pool of vomit as well using acrylic paint, pva glue and clay chunks for added ✨texture✨

I created my own p1lls using clay and stamped them using ink stamps I had and then painted them using acrylic paint. I made them oversized to exaggerate, like I've exaggerated the rest of this piece.

I also created "drink spills" using Watered down Acrylic paint to show them spilling from crushed cans on the floor

This piece was so much fun to create as it's so out of my normal stuff that I do

About The Event

The symposium will provide an opportunity for an open discussion of the current working conditions for students, academics and practitioners in architecture.

The interactive event will allow attendees to answer questions anonymously using their mobile during the event. Analysis from the responses will be used to tailor the discussion and provide real time data during the event.

The discussion aims to highlight the potential actions people can take, particularly in practice, and the resources available to the architectural community to gain better health and wellbeing.

Recently, the first-year BA History of Art and Museum Studies students at LJMU spent an afternoon at the Liverpool World Museum. This was to visit the #africa collection for our Global Art History module. The museum has a very rich collection of African artefacts, and a large percentage of the objects were donated by African collectors or patrons. We considered the interesting curatorial layout of the displays, and discussed several objects in more depth. At the end of our visit, we also called in to the innovative immersive exhibition which highlights objects from the #Chinese collection.
