sdkfjk i think this is abt tangent au? anyways pulls out a chair before we get started im going to talk for 2 hours about elektra natchios bc i promise it's relevant /j

i'm not sure when or if i will end up writing this as an actual fic and in which case everything i say will probably be spoilers but fuck it i don't believe in spoilers anyways

ok i mean there's a lot. that i could say but yknow what i'll elaborate more on the lmanberg story. it's. well ok at the barebones it's a year one for tangent!Wilbur Soot.

the backstory (that wilbur himself does not remember) is that he's Philza (prominent superhero in Aether City) son and like 5(?) years ago he was killed getting caught up in a supervillain plot. got completely blown up. Also Phil is a nonhuman entity- an angel by earth terms, but technically the High Host are an alien race (like the New Gods of DC). Phil came to Earth and eventually had Wilbur, who inherited most of but not all of his father's non-human traits. So. Yeah. Aliens.

And then he got resurrected in L'Manberg by Dream for yet to be revealed reasons

Wilbur chose the last name "Soot" for himself post-resurrection because the smoke and ash from the explosion that killed him is one of the only thing he remembers.

The rest of the current main cast of wilbur's year one / lmanberg arc is: Fundy, Tubbo, Quackity, and Schlatt.

Fundy is. Okay wait I wrote out bios for everyone in my notebook. Junior in high school, STEM kid, he's family friends with the Nihachu's and way way back when he was smaller Niki used to be his babysitter and then when he got older Niki was his friend and now Niki's at college but he still hangs out at the Nihachus' bakery where he meets Wilbur. he doesn't have a ton of friends outside of Tubbo and 5up on the robotics club. Hbomb too but H is also at college now. (rip). He lives with his mom, Sally, who is an ecologist and very busy but we don't fault her for that she's doing her best.

Schlatt is the leader of the biggest criminal faction of L'Manberg's underground. He's a powerful dude, with a lot of reach. Even in the city government. I think he gets a scary epithet but i haven't thought of it yet. He's got a plan to gain complete control of the city by creating a force of superpowered agents by activating dormant metahuman genes in regular people. That's. uh. blatantly ripped off from Young Justice but shhhh you don't know that haha. anyways i was gonna name the project Project Cadmus as a mythological reference but Cadmus is a DC thing of course it is so the current candidates are MYRMIDON, LYDIA, COLCHIS, or SPARTAE.

Tubbo and Quackity aren't as backstory heavy but they do have a lot to do when the plot ball starts rolling. Tubbo's a high school senior and Quackity's a law student who's back in L'Manberg for an internship with the city courts. Q walks in on the wrong thing at the wrong time and gets promptly disappeared. cough he may as well be dead as fuck and forcibly receives superpowers via the COLCHIS (name pending) program. Anyways both the nature of his superpower and all the trauma fucks Q up rlly bad and he becomes Chimera, a villain(not really?) with the power to take on the characteristics and capabilities of others except integration is painful and Q loses a bit of himself each time and his power always kills the other guy. and he struggles to control which aspects he takes.

yknow what it's kind of like elektra/the black sky in the defenders tv show. sorry that its becoming increasingly clear that i just tossed a bunch of cool things i liked into a blender to make this au. anyways q is set up to parallel wilbur in the respect that theyre both struggling to grasp their identity after post literal or metaphorical death and resurrection.

meanwhile Tubbo is understandably incredibly upset that his brother is gone and possibly dead? what? no he's not dead he can't be dead. he searches for Q really hard and ends up uncovering a lot about COLCHIS and Schlatt.

#this is so silly to type out but i think superhero aus deserve to have stupid bullshit sometimes #yeah if you asked me to go through and name all the DC/Marvel things that inspired different parts of this au i definitely could #no crimeboys in this au bc the original plan i had for tommy involved him not being aware of wilbur coming back? and now he's part of #eryn's plot and i'm ATTACHED to that #tangent au #woah this got out of hand #sorry for the insanity #yens #asks

what do you think will happen to mea in the future? it doesnt seem to be high on biowares priority list but with a possible remaster it would help right

i think that it is possible it would get a second (and probably third) game. it was clearly setting up for something, and not just with vaults and fixing planets and working out who the fuck were the kett, but also with the quarian ship and the random spatterings of cerberus in there, eclipse and blue suns made it onboard, gene therapy for the krogan, who killed jien garson etc etc. and look i did really enjoy andromeda... once i got past eos the first time. same with the hinterlands, just the opening first level was almost too big? granted, idk how game companies can find a happy medium with that sort of stuff, its out of my league, i got past eos, im fine now.

a remaster of the OT will bring that series, esp me1, back into kind of... orbit. as such. like me3′s endings ultimately did basically kill a lot of it’s following. i think i was talking with friends about this the other day, but me3′s endings rly did hurt its fan following, the creativity, the interest, etc etc etc. me3′s endings became so much of a joke they were referenced in other media. its pretty much all the games are known for in some way. but not rly going into that now. everyone still kind of rly holds up me1 to this standard however, but yknow when you go back to a first game in a series if you started later and its kinda clunky and you either dont get it or the nostalgia is the only thing holding out? yeah. i would say it would be in the better interests of bioware to remake instead of just remaster, bc idk if you have seen ubisofts remasters of ac3 where its like they just smoothed out some lines and threw a filter on everything. and then theres just straight up porting games, like uhh all i can think of is ratchet and clank or the jak and daxter series straight from ps2 to ps3/4. however thats a matter of resources and time and would they be also able to convince EA it was worth it because how would they transfer that game to frostbite (i think theyre still using frostbite) etc etc. obviously, dont work there, dont know.

however, mea has kind of been taken out with shoving all the important plot into books. if they were to make a second game, which i think in an interview in 2017/early 2018 when the devil himself came back to bioware, they were looking into it, it’s kind of. what do they really have to go on. but also in biowares favourite story telling “please buy our other external media so we have money” move, they shove stuff into books and comics, then reference it in game but only give like a fifth of the story, so we have a repeat of wicked eyes wicked hearts, where an overwhelming majority of people who hadnt read the books reuinted celene and briala, before realising just how fucked up that is bc of how celene treated briala and what she did to her. and ofc bioware kind of came under fire for being rly prominent as a company for doing that with external media, and tried to push back with ‘its not our fault ppl dont read our stuff’.

personally, with whatever is going on with anthem, how no one really knows whats happening with DA4 like what the story is even gonna be about besides tevinter and how theyre probably gonna justify slavery in some way because its bioware and theyre tone deaf as shit most of the time, and mass effect as a whole being shelved... i personally would say in their better interests it would be a matter of remaking dao and me1, because it would mean their original gold/platinum whatever standard games match the current look of whatever else they wanna release, they also regain interest, it would sell (it would. honestly it would). because from my understanding... bioware fired and closed a lot of studios in the process of mea being made and anthem coming in not long after. a lot of the og writers and producers and directors arent there anymore. theyre basically a brand new team in a sense, but theyre more under EA’s thumb than ever (literally, 90% sure on verge of collapse around the time of anthem’s release, and judging by how they had to be reminded about their roadmap...). short of them also somehow getting another star wars contract, or being allowed to come up with an original thought and idea to move away from their two flagship series. idk. they have to convince EA to give them time and resources at the end of the day.

#replies #bioware have such a firm hold on certain aspects of gaming #that a lot of other companies can only dream of #that it would be a shame to see them completely collapse #however they also dont do themselves any favours either #and havent rly done so since signing onto EA/me2s release #imo i do think a remaster/remake of OT/me1 would be in their best interest #but they have casey hudson back on board so who tf knows #Anonymous
