It’s my FINAL PIECE of KH3 commentary! That’s right, I’ve finished the game! Commentary for me finishing it is under the cut!

KH 3 thoughts below the cut!

Mostly humourous jabs but DEFINITE SPOILERS if you’re not done with the game. I just need to get these out before I forget. LONG POST. I mean it. I’ve been adding to this basically since I finished on day 4 of release.

So is it Lea or Axel now? I’m confused. Is it Lea for some people and Axel for others? Cause he knows it’s easier like that?

Holy shit Woody D E S T R O Y E D Young Xehanort!

You’ve heard of Babushka Dolls, now get ready for Babushka DOORS! Vanitas’ biggest weakness.

Sora got fucking serenaded by the boyband of Ansem and Xemnas.

When Marluxia and Reaper (Overwatch) have the same voice actor, and Marluxia’s lesser Nobodies are called Reapers. I R O N Y!

Also: Luxord’s VA also did Davey Jones. That was a trip and a half to find out.

AND XEHANORT’S NEW VA (RIP Leonard Nimoy your voice will live on in the mind of many who knew it as an evil bald bastard) IS THE DUDE! WHO PLAYED THE DUDE IN BLADE RUNNER. AND NAVARRE FROM LADYHAWKE. THAT’S SO COOL TO ME.

Imagine if Buzz and Woody found out that Sora wasn’t a toy, but was actually just a kid like Andy. Where are his toys? Who protects him? Sadness.

‘Let It Go’ playing while the camera pans down onto Goofy’s face is fuckin surreal.

Sköll (Frozen boss) is officially my favourite Heartless boss.

This game gets dark for Sora. Like people die/almost die and he’s never really been exposed to proper permanent DEATH before. it’s always been about fading away or succumbing to the darkness or something they seem to reverse. Like Will DIED in front of him. BOI TRIED TO CHOKE AN OCTOPUS MAN. Ana got iced. That shit’s dark, even if they did come back from a final end.

Gonna just headcanon that it was Saïx who asked Vexen to get them a body for Roxas. I’m thinking he was taking care of Xion too. Not because he suddenly liked Xion or Roxas, but for Lea’s sake. I also think he took the ice cream stick back for Xion.

I really liked the ending between Ven and Vantias? It was just like, acceptance. idk, it felt good. Vanitas is a character I wouldn’t mind returning, cause he is part of Ventus, not Xehanort. Maybe the boy just got a little bit cleansed of his bad attitude with Xehanort’s departure.

Terra bby what do you mean you will return to this place and set things right? Ya right there, setting it right.

I couldn’t get a picture with SATAN GOAT MAN because he was TOO MUCH SATAN. Gonna have to try again when I’m overlevelled and can take a few more hits.

But I murdered Young Xehanort with the merry-go-round and that was beautiful.

Xemnas murdered me with his goodbye. Completely and thoroughly butchered me and my heart. I’ll miss you, you beautiful bastard q-q

The fact that Ansem SoD’s last words were telling Sora to go out and seek more in the world....there’s something beautiful about that.

ALSO! Character development! Sora’s first words to Xemnas in KH2 before the final fight is “You’re Nobodies, you don’t even exist! You’re not sad about anything.” HIS FIRST WORDS TO XEMNAS AT THE END OF THEIR FIGHT IN KH3 ARE “I KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A HEART.” I am proud of him

IT’S SO FUCKIN SWEET RIKU MADE SURE TO BE THERE FOR NAMINÉ CAUSE REPLIKU COULDN’T BE

Now it makes sense why Xigbar reminds everyone of MoM.

THE ENDING CINEMATIC. UGH. SO MANY FEELS.

Lea, Isa and Ven playing with Lea’s old FRISBEE! I’m guessing Aeleus or Dilan had it confiscated somewhere in the castle and gave it back.

Aqua and Mickey are the responsible ones and I can just imagine Aqua making sure everyone has sunscreen, especially Naminé.

Xion’s NEW CLOTHES!!!!!!!

I will never be over how happy Isa is, although BOI. YOU ARE AT THE BEACH. Relax with the long-sleeved black outfit man!

Can we have a side game with Lea and Isa going to find their friend (I’m saying from now saying it’s amnesiac Ava (Skuld’s a possibility too I guess but I’m saying Ava)), and Xion and Roxas insist on coming with them like ‘haha no you’re not going off on your own’. We can play as Lea and he gets a party of three if they want to keep it Keyblade-centric, or maybe we can even have switchable playable characters! If Isa can still summon Lunatic. I...don’t think being a keyblade wielder is really necessary or suited for him.

Riku and Kairi need to go and get the sunshine boy back from whatever hell he’s flung himself into in TWEWY Shibuya.

XION, OLETTE, PLEASE TAKE NAMINÉ TO GO AND BUY A NEW DRESS. SHE’S OUTGROWN HER CURRENT ONE.

The Nameless Star in the Final world has gotta be Strelitzia. At first I thought it might be Lea and Isa’s missing friend...but she only mentions she’s waiting for one guy, and Lauriam was her brother, so it makes perfect sense if she’s waiting for her big brother to come and save her.

Why is Riku in Verum Rex? WHY IS MoM IN VERUM REX? IS IT BECAUSE HE SHARES HIS VA WITH NOCTIS? IS NOCTIS MoM!? MOTHER WHY DID YOU LEAVE?! - Foretellers, at some point, probably.

I can’t fuckin WAIT for Sora to add ‘sassy gambling man’ to his friend group in the next saga. Luxord’s gonna take everyone’s munny and I’m gonna be cheering for him all the way.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO DEMYX. Why did he just POOF! into literal thin air? He’s literally the only one we have no idea what happened to at the end because he didn’t show in the fight. Even was in the shot with Naminé, but we didn’t see Demyx after he dropped off Ansem the Wise! Please don’t do my boy dirty, Nomura! Give him a good role in the next saga, please (I’m calling it that he’s an Ursus Dandelion and Luxord is from Anguis).

And also! ARE WE FINALLY GONNA LEARN WHAT’S UP WITH ALL THE UNICORNS IN THE MANSION IN TWILIGHT TOWN!??! What was it, Ira’s retirement home?

BIG QUESTION FOR XEMNAS and maybe it’s explain in DDD but I never played that, so....If he had formed his own heart by the end of KH3/his life in the present....what...happens to that heart? Does it get destroyed along with the Replica he was using as a body? Does it go back to not existing? Does it fly into the ether? I have AU/headcanon to tide me over but I need F A C T

I neED CLOSURE. THAT’S A FACE THAT REQUIRES ME TO PINE UNTIL HE IS SAFELY UNDER A PILLOW FORT WITH HOT CHOCOLATE AND HUGS. DID YALL HEAR HIM, STRUGGLING FOR BREATH!? I am br Oken. My favourite sad silly nothing man, I will weep for you.

“Very well done.” I know people are mad about Xehanort’s ending but....I’m not? Like, he died. He don’t get to come back again. He lost. And he accepted his defeat graciously. Eraqus was just there to hammer it home with the ‘Checkmate’, which was beautiful. I don’t get why people are so upset. It’s like...because he didn’t die screaming and throwing a tantrum, it was too good an ending? I dunno. I thought it was a good end to an antagonist who was the mastermind of a lot of shit that we - as players - have experienced over years. He’s as much a character as the others, and we deserved to have a proper close on the chapter of his machinations.

Goodbye, Xehanort. Thank you for so many years of frustrated screaming into oblivion, you old bastard.

NOW! Time to start giving Luxu and MoM dangerous squinty eyes! MoM stop making heart shapes at the moon you freak.

KH3 liveblogging 4/4

Major spoiler warning! This took me so long because I was trying to 100% the game.

This thing where you have to gather Sora’s pieces is really trippy but cool.

Got 333 pieces. Yeah 8D

Kairi being what keeps Sora tethered to the world is great.

Okay so like... the reason Riku was talking to himself in that earlier scene (and no one else could see him doing this) is because Riku has been harboring Replica Riku’s heart in his this whole time and is able to summon him whenever he wants because he (unlike Sora) actually has the power of awakening? Or...

I like how half-hearted Luxord and Larxene were about fighting. Lol.

“I was just along for the ride” “With who?” “My secret” UHHH... 👀 My best guess is Marluxia given she knew him in KHUX time but who knows.

I also like how the other baddies just stay back while the dying character talks with Sora and co. before they disappear.

Let 👏 Kairi 👏 fight 👏 dammit!

Scala ad Caelum = Stairway to Heaven. It looks very pretty and I want to explore here more but I have a very harrowing boss battle to fight, apparently. But seriously, the blue sky and whitewashed walls on a hill by the sea is so very very Aesthetic.

Xehanort has a goat theme? It looks so creepy. But like... I wonder if this is connected to the Foretellers (all of them have animal themes)?

Okay so... Xehanort wanted to forge a x-blade so that he could control Kingdom Hearts so that he could use the world’s first light it contained within to return the world back to primordial darkness so that the world could have a do-over? ._. Also, this last-minute villain redemption seems a bit rushed but okay. Like... I still don’t get what the deal is with Eraqus and Xehanort. We’re supposed to buy that they’re childhood friends but (1) they don’t act like it in BBS (Xehanort certainly is a pretty shitty friend during BBS), and (2) Xehanort looks like 20 years older than Eraqus??? Just being real.

Old man Xehanort’s voice isn’t as exaggerated as it used to be. RIP Leonard Nimoy. ;_;

Lots of near-death moments for Sora (also, I get that Donald and Goofy are some of the most connected characters to Sora, but this last revival was so cheesy omg).

Lea’s new outfit looks great. Xion’s and Isa’s, though... yikes.

That emotional whiplash, though. Going from “private moment alone with the one I love” (while a song about making an eternal vow is playing, making you think this is a culmination of their relationship!!) to “everyone is having fun and I’m all alone thinking about Sora” (while a song about making an eternal vow is playing, making this moment the most heartbreaking thing ever)!!! WHY!!! I’m crying. Even if Sora is still alive (HE IS) I CAN’T ACCEPT KAIRI BEING THERE ALONE THINKING ABOUT/WAITING FOR HIM. When will they get their happy ending? When will they get to be together?? My heart is breaking.

Okay so Xigbar was Luxu? Huh. No closure on what Maleficent and Pete were up to in this game at all, then.

Uh... what? Sora and Riku in modern Tokyo / Verum Rex world? Um...

Apparently the internet says that is specifically Shibuya from the The World Ends with You universe, suggesting a potential connection between the world where Sora and Riku are in the secret movie and the dream world in Dream Drop Distance where TWEWY characters last appeared.

... Was that card Luxord gave Sora before he died/recompleted actually useful or...

Reading the secret reports: Who is this mystery girl? Four friends + a key + “May your heart be your guiding key” sounds strongly like Skuld. Xigbar / Luxu took her away? Or is it possible that there is a DIFFERENT group of five friends in the Dandelions: (1) Larxene/Elrena, (2) Marluxia/Lauriam, (3) Luxord’s somebody, (4) Demyx’s somebody, and (5) literally anyone else (possibly a completely new character) i.e. the person in this report. (I assume if Subject X was Larxene, Saix and Axel would have recognized her, so Subject X is not Larxene.) All five were saved from the Keyblade War and knew each other, but then ended up in the present time completely amnesiac?

Interesting Xehanort backstory... The Xehanort/Eraqus ship-teasing in this game is immense.

So it seems like summoning Kingdom Hearts allows you access to the old world pre-original Keyblade War (Age of Fairy Tales). This is why Xehanort wanted to summon Kingdom Hearts. But it looks like Luxu wanted Xehanort to summon Kingdom Hearts so that the Foretellers would be able to brought back from the Age of Fairy Tales into the present and so would the Master of Masters?

Fuck, watching the Lost Masters ending again, and Ava is missing!! Ava + four friends + key + “May your heart be your guiding key” could also mean she is the amnesiac girl. Although I don’t get the feeling the Foretellers would really describe each other as “friends”... so probably not. Also, I am very worried that the Foretellers are described as darknesses (presumably villains?), and there are seven -- the middle five are Unicorn (Ira), a heart symbol which I’m guessing is the MoM, Goat (Luxu), Snake (invi), and Leopard? (Gula). It’s blurry but the leftmost one could be a bear (Aced) and the rightmost could be a fox (Ava). I guess (given their names) this wouldn’t be all that surprising...
