okay, i dont really care for gale, but i really wanna know what's going on with the whole minstra took advantage of him in a similar manner to shadowheart or others
because im not rlly interested in romancing him, and the way he tells you stuff when not romancing him just makes it feel like there was just a power imbalance and he purposefully overstepped the boundaries with her because he wanted more power/knowledge/possibly to become a god and she was like 'ok fuck you' and then became really fucking rude to him
but its not sounding like all this was done when he was a kid? i would assume since he had been a goddess's lover he would be of age but i could very much be wrong. can someone please shine a light on this?

FOR @thechthonicmother BECAUSE THE ASK DISAPPEARED
Tav questions:
6: What companion are you platonically close with?
Agatha is so close with Karlach its not even funny
Both of them tough girlies who are finally seeing the world, one for the first time, the other finally free from Hell. They tell each other secrets and gossip and if they could go clubbing they would they are best friends to the end of time in every universe
Taz is close with Halsin methinks, both in a fwb way and an actual healthy "You are someone i enjoy being around" way. I imagine that Halsin is Taz's vet whenever any of her beast companions get sick. He also makes a good babysitter when its Shadowheart date night
8: Who are they suspicious of?
Agatha- Gale. She has a natural distrust of mages, but understands that Wyll got his from Mizora, not too weird. Gale she cannot wrap her head around *how* he does what he does. It befuddles her poor 8 int brain
That and she worries very much that hes gonna blow up for Mystra and she doesnt want that he might be a mage but hes still her friend
Taz I think is a little suspicious of Kithrak Voss and Laezel atm. The party just escaped the monastery and Vlaakith's wrath, and saw how indoctrinated the average Gith warrior is. How can these two just... stop believing in that almost overnight? She doesn't like it and worries that if they can turn that quickly on their god, how quickly will they turn on the party?
17: Do they enjoy life as an adventurer?
Both of them yes absolutely. Agatha because of her friends shes met and the world she gets to see now that shes left behind the mountains; Taz because she has NEVER been richer and frankly the dwarven holds were getting a little stuffy for her tastes. Monster hunting is fine but you get so used to the same underdark beasties over and over again. The surface has FUN THINGS like OWLBEARS and DRAGONS
25: What arcana major best represents your Tav?
Agatha- The Fool but eventually Strength
Taz- The chariot

Just saw a really good post about gale
Yes this is vague but I do want to give credit the points do stand
A lot of people pull on outside game information to talk about the abuse mystra has and the power inbalance as if it should be obvious to non dnd people like me. I only know about mystra of what the game tells me
I only want to counter point though as they bring up the power imbalance of mystra and gale as shes a god. As of inherently being a goddess means they will never be equal
I want to counter with the point that dame Aylin is a demi god. She's immortal and basically a god among mortals. Yet we don't doubt she has a good relationship with Isobel. Showing yes it is possible for an inherent power inbalance to work out fine. My problem is we don't have much showing if the relationship with gale and mystra at least unless you romance gale? Maybe? Idk I haven't seen much of it so I could just be blind.
But I want to also bring up how THIS MAKES SENSE. In game we see reflections of good and bad relationships and the thing that bothers me with gale the most is that it's compared to laezel or shadowheart who were indoctrinated at a young age
You can argue and I fully accept that gale might have been influenced at a young age. It's difficult to tell because of how vague things are. "Some time passed" and "more time passed" I understand if this is because it's traumatic looking back but it's. Hard to tell if it's the same. As a young adult being manipulated isn't the same as a child being indoctrinated
Gale was someone who admits himself he tried to push boundaries because he was given favoritism to such an extreme he felt entitled. He very well could have been manipulated and that ideal of grandiose better than God could be a symptom of it but I dont rlly wanna compare and contrast the abuse.
I'll argue the same for asterion not being the same either. To me a lot of the abuse has more nuance than just it's all the same or all equally comparable because even shadowheart and laezel who have suffered a similar abuse being raised to kill and serve a goddess who doesn't care and sees them as disposable it's not the same. Laezel was in this ideal from birth. Shadowheart wasn't. But shadowheart had her memories forcibly surpressed and rewritten entirely in some cases.
I feel like I get more frusted with gale because people seem to want to always compare the same abuse. Abuse can happen to adults. Abuse can happen to those who might have been consenting to begin with and turn into something bad. I feel giving gale more nuance and if anything humility by understanding he misstepped but isn't fully to blame either. It's a different kind of abuse. One where the power imbalance couldn't be overcome and gale was left reeling from it
