The black magic of Mulholland Drive
Swimming pools under desert skies
Drinking white wine in the blushing light
Just another LA devotee
Sunsets on the evil eye
Invisible to the Hollywood shrine
Always on the hunt for a little more time
Just another LA devotee

ur telling me that srsly no one in the studio questioned la devotee when they listened to it back...? like I KNOW the lyric is “swimming pools under desert skies” but never will i un-hear “sweaty balls on the desert sky” SOMEONE HAD TO HAVE SAID SOMETHING.
I can’t explain why, but the song la devotee by panic! at the disco sounds like those days in elementary school when they’d let us have extra recess during our last class of the day and we’d be out there with the big kids and some other people just living our best lives. Did I mention that the sunlight absolutely SLAPPED whenever we did this? Because it did.
Riley Matthews had had enough of people deciding her future for her. She only ever moved to this god forsaken sunny state because of her mother and father. Oh sure, Topanga got a better paying job, oh sure Cory was able to transfer to teaching at her new high school, oh sure Auggie fit right in with the new kids at his school...but where did this leave her? It had been hell until she had met Lucas and finally had some semblance of normality. She had tried to stay in contact with Maya and Farkle, but they both moved on and eventually the phone calls and texts and video chats were over. But she had Lucas, her western hero. But she had been mega grounded after her foray into police work and as such, aside from school she wasn’t allowed to be around anyone. It was driving her insane and even worse than that, the mean girls had decided to start picking on her again.
It had started small, mean nicknames in class, snarky remarks in the bathroom, and then it got worse. They’d pinch her as she walked past to go to her seat. She was taking a test in class and one of them turned around and untied her shoes. She had gotten detention for telling the girl to stop. And when she got home, Topanga and Cory added a week to her punishment for it. Now she was sitting in her room, waiting to feel okay again. But now she didn’t think she could feel okay ever again. Los Angeles wasn’t for her. She needed to go home, back to New York. She had made sense there. And if she was still there she could rekindle her friendships...she could have Farkle and Maya back and she could be okay. The only thing missing...Lucas.
That’s how Riley found herself climbing the trellis to his room. She would have called him first, but her parents had taken her phone as soon as she had gotten home. She adjusted the straps of her backpack with the hastily packed items and ducked down and knocked on his bedroom window. Hopefully he’d want to go with her, and if he said he didn’t, she would beg until he changed his mind.
I originally wanted to do this design with puffy paint, but with how the cover of the sketchbook is it tore right off when it was dry. So I used some papier-mâché to cover up the puffy paint and painted over it:)
And now, its time for everybody's least favorite game...
"What song is QueenNai listening to and freaking out about now?"
This time we've got...
LA Devotee from Panic! At The Disco
I would go on a mini rant about how much I love this song like I did for the others, but I'm feeling lazy and these posts never get much attention anyway so I'm just gonna keyboard smash, k?
But of course, I must include the lyric(s) I freak out the most to (very dramatically) so
