Winter is your favourite time of the year.
Season for snow, roaring fire, comfort food, hot chocolates.
Closing your eyes, inhaling. The charred smell from the burning wood, mixed with the distinctive weapon oil, gunpowder sandalwood and vanilla.
Smell of comfort, home, safety.
Smell of Simon Riley.
“Tired?” Simon whispered as he put his book down, caressing your hair lovingly.
“Just relaxing.” You smiled as you snuggled further into him.
“Ma, Da.” Your head turned slightly, hearing the slight clinking sound of tray and mugs being set down on the side table. “ Two hot chocolates with a dash of whisky as requested. And Oh.” Turning back to dash into the kitchen and returning with a metal box.”Some Kletzenbrot that Uncle König sent over.”
“You mean Alex sent it over.” Tiny chimed in.
“Haud yer wheesht TINY!!!” Aileen blushed and tried to shush her brother up from spilling out secrets.
It’s one of the rare occasions the whole family is home for winter breaks. You couldn’t even remember when was the last time the family of five gathered together for the winter festive season.
Usually Simon and Soap will be called away for special missions, or the twins and their cousin had to be on standby at the base, leaving you with little Kylie to spend Christmas with your sister in law and rest of the children.
“I thought I told you to stay away from that boy.” You feel your husband’s body tenses up, chest rumbling as he voices his disapproval.
“LOVE.” “DA!” You patted Simon's chest, trying to soothe him.
“I like Alex, he is nice to me.” Little Kylie pouted, Simon’s eyes softened as he looked down at his youngest daughter, sitting in front of the fireplace with her brother, concentrating on knitting a scarf with the knitting machine Gaz got for her as a birthday present. “Uncle König makes the best desserts. Can we invite their family over next time??”
You had to stifle a laugh when you heard Simon grumbling away, “We’ll see.” He just couldn’t say no to his daughters.
“Well Tiny,” Aileen, turning towards her brother. “Who was that person I saw you chatting away in the barrack last time? You seem to be pretty close to them, hm??”
Tiny glared at his sister, who seemed to be pleased with her revenge.
Your ear perked up, but the bickering of the twins together with their younger sister drowned any recognisable conversation. Guess the gossip about your son’s love life will have to wait for another day.
You feel Simon relaxed back into the couch, pulling you back into his lap as he picks his book back up again, resume reading with a slight smile on his face.
"have you ever thought its because they sell you poison in a bottle, sister?" idc about men or their skin but the whole radfem fearmongering over parabens and 'poison' and 'carcinogens' in skincare is honestly just making us look stupid. i have a serious skin condition that is fixed completely by skincare products. a lot of skincare products are, at worst, completely pointless. but they're not ~poison in a bottle~. i don't get how it can be a problem in itself to care about the health of your skin
hi, thank you so much for your ask!
many skincare products do unfortunately have unregulated, toxic ingredients in them, and the more expensive ones seem to think they can get away with it because of their luxury brand status and flashy advertising
take kylie skin for example, a skincare brand by a billionaire that ruined the skin barriers of many, and caused several breakouts because of the horrible ingredients, which included PEG-100, an ethylene oxide used in ww1 to create nerve gas, i.e. poison
many luxury brands, like i referred to in my post by referencing a $250 serum often carry strange smells, or are fragranced, which is not good for the skin, and can dry it out
of course im not anti skincare, especially if you need it
i myself do skincare because my skin can get so dry it can become uncomfortable
i find it an issue, however when women feel forced to purchase expensive, unregulated products to try and keep their skin looking the same as it did at 18, and ultimately end up worsening the state of their skin
i see many women also compare themselves to their male counterparts, wishing that they could also put in the bit of effort they do and still have 'nice skin', all the while trying all sorts of different products, ingredients, some with a big price tag, others not, in a desperate attempt to "defy aging"
its certainly not an issue to take care of your skin, its an issue to feel compelled into purchasing unregulated products in an attempt to have barbie skin
i hope this helps! and i wish you luck with your skin, i know what its like to have skin conditions, it can suck
Ryan’s sudden gesture of comfort towards Eden caught Alex off guard, a subtle indication that perhaps their facade hadn’t been as convincing as they had hoped. Confusion knit her perfectly groomed brows, her lips betraying a hint of awkwardness. She glanced at Zach, seeking confirmation that he too was surprised by it. Apparently, their reunion might have been more unsettling to others than they had anticipated. Though wildly unnecessary, it seemed to bring Eden relief, easing her apprehension about their complicated arrangement, if only for a fleeting moment. In every conceivable universe, the reunion of the four of them would always carry an air of peculiarity. This feeling was further compounded by the introduction of two new characters into the mix, with Alex adorning one of their rings on her delicate finger. Yet, amidst the complexities, they chose to embrace the moment, allowing themselves to immerse in the illusion and savor it. Eden’s arms encircled her, drawing her close into a cocoon of warmth. The familiar fragrance of her perfume mingled with the sweet scent of candy-flavored liquor, enveloping Alex’s senses as she nestled her face into Eden’s blonde curls. “My perfect little angel,” Alex murmured, bringing about a soft laugh as she tried to gently remove herself. “I really need that in writing somewhere,” she teased, only to be caught in another embrace as a second pair of arms wrapped around them tightly. Ryan’s dramatic sigh accompanied the rhythmic rocking motion, eliciting louder laughter and a playful protest from Alex. “Okay, okay! That’s enough! Get off!” she managed to gasp between giggles.
Ryan was the first to release her, his departure marked by a wet kiss planted on her forehead, his fingers lingering there as if to press it into her skin. Alex opened her mouth to question his behavior, ready to ask what the hell was wrong with him, but the moment slipped away before she could. She knew him well enough to anticipate a litany of reasons behind his odd antics, reasons she’d likely never have time to fully explore. Yet, despite his quirks, she adored him for it. As Alex began to recompose herself on the couch, meticulously rearranging every strand of hair back into its rightful place, Kylie seamlessly filled the void, spilling over the back of the couch to claim the space Ryan had vacated. She began to offer an explanation for her sudden disappearance and her inclination to leave the party altogether, causing Zach’s demeanor to shift, his expression mirroring disappointment as if abruptly awakened from a pleasant dream. She leaned in, whispering something into his ear, a gesture that seemed to burst Alex’s own bubble of anticipation. Feeling a pang of resignation, she pressed her lips together, her gaze dropping to the floor in a moment of utter acceptance. “Aw, man. We were just getting started,” Ryan remarked, rising from his comfortable spot on the floor to his full height. Eden gently reminded him, “Ry, you started several hours ago,” her fingers intertwining tightly with her friend’s in a silent display of solidarity. Alex lifted her eyes, surprised to find Zach’s lingering fixedly upon her for perhaps a second too long. Sensing the unspoken tension, Eden stated at Zach, silently urging him to make his exit. When he eventually announced his departure, Alex nodded softly in acknowledgment. “Have a good night, guys. Congratulations again, Kylie,” she offered politely.

As Alex and Drew stumbled into their hotel suite, their lips locked in a fervent embrace, they barely made it past the hallway before her dress began to slip down, revealing the sumptuous curves of her body. Earlier that evening, he had made some thoughtless accusations about her at Angelo King’s party, insinuating that she had become too uptight and forgotten how to enjoy herself. Despite being thrust into the role of a poised and proper fiancée, Alex had a past filled with excitement and spontaneity, long before Drew came into her life. The life typical of a privileged nepotism baby, one filled with moments that would surely make him blush, unaware that his beloved Alexandra was capable of such. This also encompassed her intimate encounters, particularly with his newly acquired prized client, Zach Winthrop. Their interactions had left her feeling unsettled, grappling with a whirlwind of emotions. She found herself lacking clarity on her own feelings, and if anything, the situation only worsened her inner turmoil. Zach seemed to pervade every corner of her mind, occupying her thoughts incessantly. The countless fantasies she had entertained about him and the myriad desires she harbored seemed endless, leaving her desperate to purge him from her system.
Drew became the unwitting recipient of her pent-up frustration. Alex could barely contain herself, eagerly guiding him towards the bedroom. With each layer of clothing shed, revealing his impeccably chiseled physique, not a single tattoo adorned his skin. Previously, she had been satisfied with their sex life, never entertaining comparisons between him and Zach. The experiences were vastly different, and to even consider such a comparison would inevitably lead to disappointment. However, despite her satisfaction with him, there were certain boundaries she hesitated to cross, fearing that pushing those limits would only serve as a reminder of her past encounters and ultimately leave her unfulfilled. With Zach’s return igniting a longing she no longer had the option to soothe with him, Alex wondered if Drew would quell her yearning instead. As he lowered her onto the bed, she melted into the luxurious embrace of the heavenly duvet. In no time, he found his rhythm, his movements becoming more urgent as he thrust his hips forward, filling her completely. Alex’s hand found his, guiding it between the tight chasm of her breasts and up toward her throat. As Alex closed his fingers tightly around her hand, Drew hesitated. “Harder,” she whispered softly, her plea hanging in the air. Reluctantly, Andrew complied, but as she asked again and then once more, his reluctance grew. “Alex, I don’t want to hurt you,” he voiced his concern, lifting his hand to examine the reddened imprints left on her skin. The next morning, as the dawn broke over Los Angeles, Alex left for home in the city. She felt desperate to escape the suffocating grip of nostalgia that threatened to engulf her.

Nearly three weeks had passed since the infamous afterparty hosted by Angelo King, during which Zach and Drew had struck a verbal agreement to officially sign him as an artist at the Label. The physical distance between Alex and Zach had been a welcomed reprieve, diminishing the frequency of her thoughts about him. She slipped back into her routine with ease, content to fulfill her role as only Drew’s fiancée. It reminded her why she had left Los Angeles in the first place and how challenging the memories could be for her well-being. Doubts began to gnaw at Alex about their impending move, a sentiment she kept to herself. Drew’s excitement about having a home base near the company’s headquarters and the opportunity to focus on Zach’s new album fueled his enthusiasm, and she didn’t want to dampen his spirits. In an effort to protect herself, Alex made the conscious decision to maintain the distance between herself and Zach. This meant politely declining invitations to events where he might be present, as well as avoiding gatherings with their mutual friends. She didn’t trust herself around him, and the prospect of tearing everything down around them for her own desires was unbearable. Perhaps, she mused, he would be grateful for her absence, considering how challenging it had been for him to be around her, around Drew, around them together.
On the other hand, Drew had become increasingly eager to move forward with their plans. He pressed her to make decisions about their future, including selecting a new home from the properties they had recently viewed and suggested that they return to Los Angeles to see them in person. Keeping her presence in town a secret, Alex had hoped to make her trip a brief one. She knew that Andrew would be preoccupied with various business matters, but hadn’t provided much detail about his schedule, so when he suggested she visit him at his new office before they headed out to tour the last home on their list, she didn’t think much of it. Excitement coursed through Alex as she stepped into the new office, eager to witness Drew’s vision brought to life and to meet the new faces of his West Coast team. Passing through the glass doors, she was promptly greeted by a receptionist, a young woman around her own age. Rising from her seat, the petite brunette extended her hand towards Alex with a warm smile. “Miss Burton, I’m Gracie. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. Mr. Dupree is in Recording Studio #3. I can take you there if you’d like.” Alex returned the smile, feeling a sense of gratitude for the warm welcome. “That would be great, thank you,” she replied, nodding appreciatively as she smoothed down the ends of her skirt in anticipation.
Rihanna,Hailey, Selena G, Ariana, Kim,Kylie, JLo, Gwenyth Paltrow, Gwen Stefani, Millie Bobby Brown, Alicia Keys, Gaga, Halsey, Jessica Alba. What do these female celebrities have in common? Well they either have a makeup, skincare, or beauty brand. It’s like every other month some celebrity decides they have the magical products to perfect skin. Now there is some where it makes sense why they would start a beauty brand like Rihanna, Kim, Kylie, Lady Gaga and Halsey because they are known for their beauty or makeup looks. I also will say that Selena Gomez gets a pass because she made a brand that targeted a certain type of makeup customers. I feel that Rare beauty is for people who wear a more natural, minimalist look while I feel that Fenty is more inclusive, & Haus Laboratories and About Face are more for creative, loud looks. As much as I love Ariana, I don’t really understand why she came out with a makeup brand because although she has an iconic look, I wouldn’t say it was because of her makeup, she’s also releasing a skincare brand. I also looked at the promotion pics and although I haven’t seen any reviews,it looks a little basic or different to the other popular celeb brands. I would also like to mention the male beauty brands, specifically the nail polish brands: Harry styles, pleasing and Mgk’s UN/DN. I haven’t really seen anyone really talk about Harry’s brand but Mgk has been really good at promoting it and has a clear vision/aesthetic which I think Harry needs to learn from mgk if he is serious about it. I will say that the shape of Harry’s nail polish is very cool, he just needs to promote it better. This is the one thing I have a problem with celeb beauty brands is that they either have bad promotion, are basic products that are overpriced or the skincare products don’t even work or are sometimes harmful to the skin. Like I’m pretty sure, Hailey, Jlo ,Jessica, Gwenyth, Kylie, Kim aren’t certified dermatologists and clear skin is most likely due to cosmetic doctors. Kylie’s face scrub, for example, had walnuts in it which I think some dermatologists have said that scrubs with particles could cause tearing in the face. I also think that you're not supposed to have face cleansers w/fragrance or alcohol in them. Sometimes though, celebs actually care and put in effort but I feel most see it as a way for them to get money from the public who want to look like them.
