Gideon was excited to see his adoptive older-brother. He was on his way to do something else but it wasn't super important he was sure. He jogs over to beam up at him.

"Can you help me find a Rhinoceros Beetle? Sanemi has one... I'm uh... Sort of looking for common ground with him? I also think they're really neat! And... I want Sanemi to not want to kill me." :3

“Gideon!! Hey!!”

Hikaru looks up towards the sound of the silver-haired Slayer’s voice, grinning. He stands up from where he’d been poking at some rocks, brushing the dirt off his hands on the canvas of his pants.

“Good to see you! You’re looking for a rhinoceros beetle? I’m your guy!!”

Giving Gideon a friendly clap on the shoulder, Hikaru gestures for him to follow as they trot towards the woods outside HQ.

“So rhinoceros beetles are all herbivores, and they eat things like fruit, sap, leaf litter and dead plant matter, and the best place to look for them is cool, damp areas during the day. They might hiss at you if you pick them up, isn’t that cool? It’s not actually a vocal noise, they’re rubbing their elytra against their abdomen!”

Hikaru chatters away, happily infodumping about their target insect as they make their way through the forest.

I can. I’m not sure what you want but I can say things like; she enjoys her eyelashes and I often pamper her in my free time. She is quite prideful of me and reassures me my Mist Breathing is enough. She doesn’t like anybody else. She sleeps right next to my futon at night. She also likes to sleep wrapped up in blankets. I named her myself when I first got her. We often try out new foods together. She is kinda mother like and scolds me a lot whenever I train myself too hard

But seriously, I think they need some sort of leash. Those two might go feral if they see each other again. I doubt Dango is going to stop my brother from going off on Genya the next time he sees him.” Inui sighs. “I’m no teenage expert, but I think both of them were just trying to defend their own pride. They should just stick to working on themselves, little by little. I admit. I was worse than them at that age, so I don’t get to say anything, but I kicked a guy in the place where the sun doesn’t shine because he called me an attention seeking brat. I had to carry three bags of sand while climbing a mountain 20 times before the sun came down as punishment. I never knew back pain until then.” Inui shudders. “Inupi is lucky he didn’t get Shuji as his main trainer. He’d have made Inupi wear weights and made him drag a cart full of cow manure by now. Gyomei hums as holds his prayer beads and tears start to form.

He deserves a brother that can tell him he’s doing great. He deserves a brother that can tell him he’s doing well without overthinking about his reaction. He deserves to be happy. And I’d trade my life for his happiness. I’m not sure making him a demon slayer was the best solution. He begged me to make him a slayer. Even though I told him that he’d have to trade a normal life for one of pain, he told me, ‘But Aniki! My life has never been normal! I want to help others like you do! I’m okay with it. I don’t want others to go through what others did!’ That was when I realised he was a boy with such a pure heart. Too pure. Soon enough he’s going to be broken down to pieces by the world, and I’m never going to forgive myself for it. I don’t know what I can do or say. I’m even worse than him when it comes to doubting oneself. I don’t. I can’t. And when those thoughts start coming in, I know I can’t do anything to stop them. I want to say something. I want to encourage him with my words. The best I can do is pat him on the back. And every second I don’t say something, I feel like the worst person on earth.” Inui stares at his hands. “I know I can say something. I just…I don’t know what.”
