Kingmaker, they sneer, spit flying with every syllable. hatred and fear in their eyes, hands shaking as they point.
Kingmaker, they whisper in the corridors, mouths hidden behind cupped hands.
oh Kingmaker, what have you seen, kids come up to him, curiousity swimming in their eyes. carefree smiles that soon will join that of their parent's twisted lips.
who is the next king, his liege asks, hands twisting together nervously. he is old and nearing his end. though the king has two children, neither will bear the crown.
I turn from him, tracing the stone work that despite the years has not crumbled, pristine as the day the Kingmaker finished his laboring.
Kingmaker though time passes, the calluses that cover your palms have not healed, still they ache. fresh as the day you crowned His Majesty.
oh Kingmaker, what will you make of the next century?

sungod bdubs being a king maker makes sense. the sun in minecraft orbits around the player, not a central point in the world, like spawn. bdubs chooses who he oribts around, and he can set like the sun behind anyone he chooses.

thinking abt bdubs creating entertainment rock and the first entertainment event he hosted there was a live showing of his own death . something abt treating urself and ur tragedy as a spectacle for the enjoyment of others and seeing urself as nothing more than an accessory for the narrative . something abt bdubs not posting his perspective this season and refusing to budge last season when the session was over and 6 red lives were chasing him .something abt being a kingmaker and never a king . the bdubs difference

So now Scar has learned a valuable lesson, and that lesson is "if you hit a horse with a perfectly misaimed arrow with enough velocity, it will basically just explode under the person riding it."
RIP to Mi Amore, you were never a particularly good horse, but you were certainly the horse Bdubs had. And you were still faster than riding the pig. May your memory live on in the giant horse sculpture-now-memorial that Scar will have to look at every day, as well as in all the unpleasant tasks that Bdubs will probably be able to guilt Scar into doing.
Anyway, the Twitter mystery from last night is solved, it was murder all along. But hey, now Doc has the server's A+ number one henchman and kingmaker on his side if he wants it, that ought to make things more fun!

Ren flops onto his conveniently placed throne, throwing himself across the armrests with as much drama as possible. It’s enough drama, in fact, to make Bdubs stop what he was doing and turn to look at Ren expectantly.
“Bdubs. My loyal partner. My kingmaker. My right hand,” Ren starts.
“Yes, my king?” Bdubs says.
“Am i not good enough?”
“Yes,” Bdubs says automatically, before pausing and realizing what he’s said. “Wait, I mean, no! You’re worthy! Why else would I pick you for the crown!”
Ren huffs and throws a hand over his face. “Do I not create quests for the people? Do I not help create roads, and jobs, and beautiful portals no one would have finished without further motivation?”
“You do, my king!” Bdubs says.
“Am I not a fit ruler? Have I not been lenient with my crown? Have I—seriously, dude, I actually haven’t done anything but stick my head around everywhere, I haven’t made any claims I hadn’t already made, man. I just—Bdubs,” Ren says.
Bdubs gets the sense he’s just supposed to be smiling and nodding at this point. “Yes?”
“Bdubs, Bdubs am I just—just that unlikable? Am I… an ugly dog?”
“What?” Bdubs says, baffled.
“Am I just—an inherently untrustworthy dog? Am I just too easy to make fun of? I don’t understand,” he says.
“No,” Bdubs guesses the correct answer is.
“Then why are so many people defying me!” wails Ren. “I hadn’t actually run out of money yet! I haven’t done anything to defy! Seriously, even you’re doing it!”
“What? No! I would never,” Bdubs says in what he hopes is a very convincing voice. The fact Bdubs still has several of Ren’s diamonds in his inventory is immaterial.
“You have, though, Sir Bdubs!” Ren makes a pitiful whine. “I hadn’t done anything yet! I’d just said no one else could use my quest system! Why?”
He looks at Bdubs expectantly. Hesitantly, Bdubs starts: “Well, sir, I definitely don’t think this, but, uh, it’s possible. That people see you as easy to mess with. Sir.”
“What? Easy to mess with? Me? I’m far from easy to mess with! I have sharp teeth and fast reflexes! Nothing phases the dog, my dude!”
“…of course,” Bdubs says after a long moment of staring at where Ren is still flopped over his throne like a Victorian maiden with consumption. “Nothing phases you at all.”
“Easy to mess with. Why, I should make it a law. A King’s Decree: Ren is not easy to mess with, and should not be treated as such!”
“Great idea. That will show them all exactly how unbothered you are, my King,” Bdubs says.
Ren starts wagging his tail. “Of course!” he says. “It will become law on the morrow!”
“It will be done,” agrees Bdubs, and he wonders how much earlier he can enact the part of the plan where he just takes over entirely.

hiya can i ask u for bdubs character arc thoughts. i feel like this season has been a major turning point for him in a lot of ways, going from dead weight to killing the dragon and i love him very dearly for it.
I am honestly so, so excited to see more of bdubs this season and really want him to win if only because it would wrap a bow on a beautiful, beautiful character arc we're seeing unfolding.
Something about bdubs is that he doesn't, actually, believe in himself. He doesn't. All of his grand talk of him being the best at x or y is all, well, talk. He's very alike to Joel in that regard, though they both express is in slightly different ways; he's self conscious. He feels small. Inadequate. He feels like he has to prop himself up on a pedestal because no one else will. And he's so... Not used to it, that when he does receive outward praise, he either doesn't believe it, thinks it's a joke, or gets wildly uncomfortable.
There's almost this fear of disappointment in him. Disappointing etho or whoever else he's allied with, whoever else he looks up to, or who might look up to him. He very quickly pushes himself to the sidelines for the sake of someone he believes to be worth more. He knows he has worth, but that worth can only be used to push those he loves forward. Never himself. Never.
He wants to be the best he can be, for others.
It's to the point he's convinced himself he's less than, that he's weak, that he's not brave. He might laugh it off when he's called a dead weight, but before anyone even said it he wholly believed it.
Not anymore, though. Bit by bit, it's breaking. He's not being allowed to put himself on the sidelines. He's not being allowed to run and cry to Etho anymore. Etho may regret it, but him refusing to help bdubs with the dragon - it started something. Or perhaps just hastened something that was already happening.
I genuinely believe it to be such a huge stepping stone for bdubs' character arc this series. The side character who killed the dragon. The kingmaker become king. With a past winner rooting for him - not outwardly protecting him, but instead offering her strength - and one of the most fiercely loyal and passionate ally one can get.
Perhaps one could think of him hiding from the wither as a step back. But I think it's a step forward. Learning to choose his battles. Learning the difference between bravery and foolishness. Taking a page from Etho's book, instead of holding him as an unattainable role model.
Learning that there is value in him living. That he should live, not just because he's scared to die, but because he will be genuinely, horribly missed.
Learning there is value in himself to the point he allows himself to feel rage over losing a life for nothing, losing a life because of someone else's cruelty.
I really, really, really look forward to seeing more of that. Of brave bdubs, who was always brave, but might finally be able to see in himself what he sees in others. And make the rest of them see it, too. No more will he be mocked. No more "etho can't protect you now". He's Bdubs. Brave, strong, and loved Bdubs.

Ren didn’t want to tell anyone that the Gigapies’ filling was red now, dripping out of the crust, too fluid to be cherry filling. He didn’t want to tell anyone that when he looked up at his right hand man, his kingmaker, from across the long table that might as well extended forever, Bdubs’ eyes were too big, and his smile stretched beyond the limits of his lips, cracking the sides of his face.
There were whispers with every step he took on the cobblestone floor of the crastle, and Ren could swear the heartbeat of the warden in the basement was louder then normal. And he was losing time, or his mind. Or both. The crown lay as heavy as an anvil on his brow. And he was afraid.
“Are you quite all right, my king?”
Ren was in the meeting room. He wasn’t quite sure how he got there. His head felt quite heavy.
“Yes, yes. Let them in.” He waved his hand. Bdubs bowed the knights in, and they settled themselves around the square table. Ren cleared his throat, as he assumed he should do, and they all went quiet. As they should.
Ren began to speak, hoping the words he said made some semblance of sense. He couldn’t hear his speech, whatever plan he’d thought up, because he couldn’t tear his gaze away from them. The knights of the square table, his knights. Every single one had changed, and were terrifying.
Joe Hills had eons in his eyes, two endless pits of starry sky, achingly similar to the stuff within end gateways. He watched Ren with an intensity that made him go cold, with those eyes that Ren was falling, falling, falling into.
Cleo was rotting, and while it was true that she was always rotting, now chunks of her were falling onto the table as she talked, as she sneered at him. There was grey bone that held her upright like the stakes of tents.
Scar was perfect if you didn’t look beyond a glance. Perfect hair, rippling abs, smooth voice. But when eyes lingered, Ren could see that Scar’s mouth stretched too wide, the corners ending somewhere around his ears. His hands dripped blood, smearing on the table and down the end of the arrow fitted in his bow. The blood tip-tapped wetly onto the floor.
Iskall’s face had always been defined by the green covering he wore over one eye. But the covering was gone, and all that remained was a gaping black hole that sunk into his face. And from that hole was something trying to get out. Hairy, spindly spider’s legs that waved vaguely. Iskall brushed back his hair, and for a moment, his fingers intertwined with the spider legs like lovers would.
Cub had on the ridiculous dragon head, huge and taking up an absurd amount of table space. It would have been a welcome reprieve from the nightmarish beings around the table, but Ren couldn’t stop looking at Cub’s hands, Cub’s very normal hands that were fidgeting with the potion bottles, all sorts of bottles that Ren knew, oh god he just knew, that Cub was going to throw at him Cub was going to kill him Cub was going to take the crown-
The meeting room was empty. But the voices of his knights were still with him. And they spoke with venom-spiked swords.
“Pathetic.”
“Weak-willed.”
“He should be put down like the dog he is.”
“I deserve this crown”
He was sitting on his throne.
He couldn’t remember how he got there, but the netherite was cold under the arms that rested upon it.
“What was that, my lord?” Bdubs was sitting in his smaller throne, and looked over.
“I deserve this… I am king, right?”
“Of course you deserve to be king. There is no one better to grace this crastle.” Bdubs assured him. He went to stand before Ren. “Are you sure you’re alright, my king?”
And how Ren wished he could say he was okay, sneer and demand for something, anything. But Bdubs was standing before him, and he was no man. Silvery white branches were beginning to wrap themselves over his skin, strangling his arms and legs and neck. And the whispers, whispers that were coming from Bdubs, even though he was not speaking through that too-wide smile.
Who are you, but a puppet?
We give you the power.
You are just our toy.
Ren was silent. He couldn’t say anything at all, for he was the king, the man with the power.
Well, he was, wasn’t he?

Ahem, may I interest you in a medieval fantasy au that I’m tentatively calling the Beacon AU?
The setting is your standard mcyt medieval fantasy stuff. The kingdom is made up of all sorts of humans and hybrids, living together peacefully. The capital is a thriving metropolis that has its advantages and disadvantages, its trade with neighboring kingdoms across land and sea is going well. But above all, the lands are protected by four ancient beacons that are scattered across the land and that send a beam of light into the air. It is rumored that, so long as the beacons are lit, the lands are safe. Nobody remembers a time when the beacons were not lit, so the thought that they would ever fail would never even cross their minds.
The current king is Ren - he means well, but the power (bestowed upon him too early) has been going to his head. His main advisor, Bdubs, is very much a yes-man and kingmaker who both has a lot of influence on Ren and who is easily swayed by Ren’s decisions and commands. Welsknight, commander of the King’s guard does listen and obey his king, but also tends to look at things through a more critical lens and offers more realistic advice.
Naturally, the kingdom is thrown in disarray when the beacons start failing, one by one. At night, monsters crawl out of the lush forests and rolling hills and attack poor, innocent villagers. Strange creatures appear to even haunt the people during the day. The safety of the beacons, taken for granted for so long, now endangered the life of everyone who lives in this kingdom.
Despite having recently recovered from a debilitating injury (and still kind of being on the mend), Wels volunteers to discover why the beacons have powered down, what has caused it and defeat that evil, as well as finding out how to power them again. The task ahead is difficult, but the kingdom he loves is under threat and he must do whatever he can to relight the beacons and rescue his kingdom before it is too late.

Realisa Onum, gen, 4k. a time loop story about making stories and making kings and making spaces.
Summary: As the time king and kingmaker, Bdubs changes the day and crowns some kings. And crowns some kings, and changes the day, and changed the kings, and tells the story. And does it again, until it's right.
“As king of the whole server, you’ll have a lot of people that you’ll need to melt and bend to your will. Just like you would on this anvil,” he said, placing a palm on the anvil’s surface. It was warm to the touch from the shroomlight below and morning sun above. “Sometimes, it takes a little heat. This anvil would be the symbol of your leadership.” “That’s - that’s kind of a lot, Bdoubleo.” Bdubs inclined his head; so they were at formalities, then, with the weight of the anvil between them now. It gave him hope for the future. “You don’t have to say yes right now,” he said soothingly, “and you can take as much time as you like. I’ve got plenty of it. We can come back to this another time, that’s all I’m asking.” “I don’t know,” Ren said. But there was a serious furrowing in his brow, glasses slipping down his nose as he contemplated a patch of grass where the sunbeams danced.  “I’m giving you as much time as you need,” Bdubs promised.  It was as easy as sleeping, to give his time away in service of the man he would like to see as king. If Ren said yes - when he said yes and became king of the server, it would be his responsibility to give more at his request. Space and time were the same thing, in the end, when freely given.  So he kept his promise; time given, he carved out a little more space and changed the day.

you know I Am thinking about. Bdubs and resistance. Because s7 he was All out, no matter how many diamond trees or pointless tasks or flip-flopping between glowing praise and passive dismissals of his work Scar would give him, up till the very end of the mycelium war and even through Aquetown
Season 9 is. not the same in this regard, I don't think. Can you take back a crown you gave willingly. Like a sweater in a breakup, gimme that back
