I’ve decided I want to flesh out Aodhan Trevelyan’s family, specifically his younger brothers, Eimar (left) and Kian, the youngest.  I’ve been wanting to write something about their possible reunion sometimes after Inquisition, but doing so would necessitate understanding their grief and loss at Aodhan being taken away, especially since he was 12 when his magic manifested.  I’ve learned a lot about grief in the last several months since losing my own brother, and looking at some of that in fanfic is a good way to examine it safely.

So here’s a quick reference I created for myself.  Eimar was the kind of boy who could easily be described as a stick in the mud; while both he and Aodhan were fairly quiet boys, Aodhan was easygoing whereas Eimar was rigid and black-and-white in his thinking.  Eimar was often extremely jealous of his older brother Aodhan.  Kian, however, was the chatterbox, the clown of the family, and the freest with his emotions; he also got along equally well with both of his big brothers.

Lord Eimar Trevelyan of Ostwick has grown into a stern but just man, who keeps his emotions in check and has very little sense of humor.  He manages the family estate shrewdly and has a talent for investment and business.  The family wealth has increased, even in the short time since he has become the head of the Ostwick Trevelyans.  He is slowly courting Mairi, the younger daughter of a lesser noble of Wycome, and proposes marriage to her during the events of DA:I.  She is skilled in business and diplomacy, smoothing interactions between Eimar and other nobles to make up for his often dour demeanor.

His younger brother Kian underwent some templar training, but was found to have a poor temperament for the job given his high degree of empathy and lighthearted attitude.  However, he has found a calling in scholarship, and studies literature and history at the University of Markham.  He is extremely popular there and is seen regularly in the company of different ladies.

Sometime after the events of Trespasser, the Viscount of Kirkwall issues an invitation to Lord Eimar Trevelyan and Lady Mairi, as well as his brother Kian, for a grand party in Kirkwall.  It is understood that the former Inquisitor will be in attendance.
