Character Analysis - SMG3
Hello again, fellow SMG4 fans. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the guy who conquered The Internet Graveyard - SMG3.
Tumblr media
Now, looking at the picture here, you can see that SMG3 is a good character. Which is true. He's improved a lot since The YouTube Arc. Take it as Character Development of some kind.
SMG3 is a Meme Guardian who came to the Mushroom Kingdom in a USB Flashdrive that was originally meant to go to the Internet Graveyard, as shown in SMG4's Origins. It was back then that SMG3 and SMG4 had a rivalry, which dissolved after they became friends.
Tumblr media
SMG3 appears as the same height as SMG4, but takes on a different look. Just like the Meme Man, SMG3 had two redesigns to no longer look like a Mario recolour. SMG3 has red eyes, facial hair and black hair. He is shown wearing an indigo hat with a cut on the brim, long sleeved shirt and dark purple overalls, which were originally black overalls. He also wears black studded boots and white gloves with black cuffs. The gloves have the Roman numeral of the number 3.
One of his concepts had him with spikes as the base for his gloves, and another one had him with black gloves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SMG3's story started as early as 2011, where he was shown to have a disliking of SMG4, and began ripping off the latter's videos to get back at him for being a better Meme Guardian. Nine years later, SMG3 was punished for his actions by being sent to the Internet Graveyard as a proper punishment. He was easily able to rule over IG.
Throughout most of the current seasons, he was sometimes the voice of reason, as seen in Mar10 Day, where he tried to reason with SMG4 for causing a ruckus at the party. That shows us that he was just trying to calm Four down, only for this to not work.
Tumblr media
Throughout all of It's Gotta Be Perfect, as the keyboard was corrupting SMG4 like crazy, SMG3 was shown to have some moments where he did genuinely care for SMG4's safety. That's the sign of a true friend. Once SMG4 does release himself from the keyboards grasp, Three is the first to smile at him, with happy tears in his eyes, knowing that his friend had saved himself.
Tumblr media
In the past we've seen how SMG3 acts whenever SMG4 calls him a Tsundere, or if he states that SMG3 is sometimes insecure. There have been times where Three refers to him as "Baka", which could indicate that Three thinks of SMG4 and himself as being "more than just friends". Heh heh. This results in SMG3 having a small blush whenever calling SMG4 "Baka".
Tumblr media
War of the Fat Italians 2023 had some classic funny moments, including Mission 10. This is where we need to talk about Snowtrapped. Ha ha.
Tumblr media
In case you know already, Snowtrapped is a blooper of SMG4 that came out in 2016. It was famous for the moment that happened at 6:50, which was the question in WOTFI 2023's 10th mission. And let's just say that fans did not see both igloo references coming at all. I was jut laughing throughout the mission, which was a success.
Now let's talk about SMG3's Sussy Notebook, which was never seen again after WOTFI 2023.
Tumblr media
SMG3 notebook is a purple notebook with yellow bands on the edges, warning people to "Keep Out", as it has secrets about SMG4 and SMG3. It was first shown in The Watermelon Man, as SMG3 was shown writing in it. It has since became a recurring item up until the latest WOTFI. Nobody knows what secrets it has until it became official Merch.
His relationship with SMG4
Tumblr media
SMG4 and SMG3, AKA SMG34/SMG43 (depends on what you guys use), is a popular ship on the Internet that's either used in a platonic way or a romantic way. Sometimes the fans go too far with it an create angst, sometimes it becomes evident over the course of the show. We will talk about more SMG34/SMG43 moments in another analysis soon.
The analysis of the SMG34/SMG43 ship is next on out Character Analysis. Also, suggest ideas in the notes for anyone you want an analysis of from different shows after the SMG34/SMG43 analysis is done.

(Two Cents Anon) Glad to see we got a response about the workplace allegations! Imo it seemed pretty solid and I kiiiinnda understand why he remained quiet for awhile.
HOWEVER, I still find it odd that Kevin or Luke haven't said anything about the whole situation with Celeste, which, iirc, was what started all of this. I hope they speak up about that soon- I just want her to get a real solid apology :( Also, speaking of the Celeste situation, it really does feel like the result of just. Assuming and jumping to conclusions. Still makes me feel... weird in regards to watching SMG4/Glitch Productions, so I'll continue abstaining from it.
Oh god hi anon so sorry for taking forever to answer, I've been mega busy the past week so everything's been slow as hell </3 I was also waiting at first to see if anything else will happen but things seemed to have quiet down a bit so I'll say something now.
I agree, Kevin's response was a pretty solid one, acknowledging what Glitch's current working situation is like while also acknowledging how it was in the pass definitely show some growth and change since then. I feel that a more dishonest approach would be to completely deny everything and worse yet, not address it at all. I do think the past criticisms are valid and shouldn't be disregarded now, but having a more even distribution between good and bad experiences really helps balance things out.
However I do agree though, the lack of a response to Celeste is definitely disappointing, I get the main focus of Kevin's response was to address the working conditions allegations, but this would've been the perfect time to say something. I mentioned before that Celestes' situation is probably more of a private matter unfortunately, in that any conversations are going to be between Celeste and Glitch privately.
It'll be up to them if they wish to share it publicly again, if they do or don't is up to them, I can only hope that Celeste gets a proper apology and some kind of closure privately at least, it's kinda one of those things that is more personal and therefore doesn't have to be shared publicly. I'm just glad she doesn't hold any ill will towards Lottie, as we know she's innocent in all this, I'll respect any decision that they make in regards to who keeps voicing Tari.
It's sad to think this whole situation started from poor communication, we can all sit here and say how easy this was to avoid because in all honesty, it was very easy to avoid. We can only hope that Glitch learns from this, but it sucks that this comes at the expense of loosing one of their first VA's, and subsequently all the others who quit too. I still genuinely wish all of them the best and that they can move onto greater things.
I do think Jasmine's apology is all we'll get unfortunately, but it's at least something.
I get what you mean about still not feeling comfortable watching Glitch, I'm still not entirely comfortable with it, but for me personally I'm probably gonna go back to watching them soon, even if this never gets fully resolved. Don't get me wrong, I'm still upset and disappointed with Glitch over this, but I do genuinely believe they can improve from this, I'm willing to give them another chance basically.
Part of my reasons to stop watching was because of the workplace conditions, I was under the assumption every single employee was horrifically overworked and underpaid, and I would take no comfort in watching something I knew was made under those conditions. But now that we have clarified that those claims are not entirely true (again maybe for in the past but definitely not as much now), I can take some comfort in that.
I will still 100% keep myself and everyone else here updated incase any new developments happen, but I do genuinely think this is all we're going to get unfortunately. Wether you can continue to watch Glitch or not is entirely up to you and as I've always said, I hold no judgement towards anyone, if you're not satisfied enough to keep watching them, thats fine and understandable.
I don't want anyone to think I'll be forgetting about this just because I'm gonna go back to watching and making content soon, and neither should anyone else forget about this, I just genuinely think Glitch can improve and change from this and I'm willing to give them a chance. Obviously if something like this happens again then I'm done, but I've seen enough accountability this time around (albeit kinda weak) to keep watching them for now.
That's all I'll say for now, I'm still happy to keep hearing from people about this, I don't want this to become "old drama", it's literally 2/3 weeks old now that's not old, I'm old, my back aches.

Keys were attached to each copy of the game sent out. The games were online only, meaning it was easy enough. Just saying it was for copies of games and that was all.
How farther could that be from the truth.
Alyssa was fired after her firewalls, and their little 'mascots' were seen coming to life. She had tried hiding them from the company and tried hiding what a deal they had on their hands.
She had tried to be nice, really. Alyssa was such an old friend. Her old friend could keep her job, but she surrendered the firewalls and their mascots to the company.
Alyssa said no, and so she was fired. Placed under an indefinite NDA. Left destiute.
And she never spoke to Alyssa again. It wasn't too sad to see her go, even if she left her old friend with nothing.
The director was willing to do whatever it took to have her company succeed. She did not spend her teen years making a game so incredibly popular just to have no rogue employee try and wash it all away.
When she then acquired the firewalls, she gave them names. Chroma, Blaze, Comedy, and Tragedy. Such wonderful things they were, and far too easy to manipulate.
Some words, some threats, and they were following her orders.
It was one day when three keys caught her eye when she was reading a report. They were.. altered. All of them start with the letter A, with there being a J, N, and T to each respectively. Though the A-J one seemed.. corrupted, almost.
She looked into it, and surprise, surprise, it was a YouTuber that was on her radar for a while. SMG4 was his name, and she could tell almost immediately.
Those creations were alive. They weren't just models.
Some more poking, and she noticed him in line for pre-order to part two of their latest game, Winding Rest.
Interesting..
But something clicked for the director. Why shouldn't she have these little versions of her games? They were her protagonists, her world, her everything. She deserved to have them.
So she'd sent those four on a hunt. She didn't care how long it would take.
But she'd let SMG4 have some more fun with her creations. After all, it was far too amusing.
○●○
"Director Jayin?"
There's a soft knock on her door. A black haired, green eyed woman turns her head from the window she was looking out. She was dressed nicely, wearing a white blouse, grey work pants, white socks and black dress shoes.
"Come on." She says.
An intern pops her head in. "Uhm.. it was found out why the A-J key was corrupted. Apparently, something happened to the game, and now it's pretty hard to access the world. But it's hard to tell if that's actually what happened.. since we only have that code.."
The director hums. "Keep looking then."
The intern nods and backs out, closing the door behind her.
Director Jayin leans back in her chair before she smiles. She glances at her computer, where on the screen, a box showing four folders were present.
"It's no wonder you four are also alive.. Alyssa did work on you all.." Jayin clicks her tongue. "Shame I had to let her go."
With that, she closes the window and resumes work, responding to critical emails. Another intern had poked her head somewhere she shouldn't have, and now Jayin had to 'warn' her in.. special ways.
It was mostly just to make sure the government didn't come down on her ass. Jayin did not need that. Thank you very much.
Director Jayin allows herself to smile a bit, however. She knew she couldn't have each copy of the games have protagonists as real as the ones SMG4 had. But who was to say that she couldn't take back what was her's Alyssa's, and simply.. improve?
That's all it was. She'd do whatever it took to have her company on top.

Good Stuff: Best Of 2020 Runner-Ups
Welp, as my Top Ten List of 2020 will release New Year’s Eve, it's time to share the runner-ups for the best animated media I've seen this year. They equally came a close second and I wanted to share everything I found memorably engaging and helped make this year worth continuing.
Tumblr media
Pony Life; Doesn't capture the weekly magic I got from the original series but does just as good a job being entertaining with the cast certainly sounding like they enjoyed hamming it up.
Tumblr media
Song Machine; This admittedly was what got me back into Gorillaz because I love the soundtrack as much as the atmosphere each episode compliments. I can always look to Gorillaz for good looking AMVs.
Tumblr media
Pixar’s Soul; I was satisfied but it certainly felt like more could've been added, especially in the 3rd act & the world building for the afterlife. The film definitely spoke to me personally, it's good, but I won't say it's S tier like Wall-E or Ratatouille.
Tumblr media
Lupin the 3rd: The First; While brought down for what's admittedly a formulaic Lupin story, it really achieved being the greatest looking CG film Lupin could ever received with the flow of the series never losing it's touch. Animation alone is worth the watch.
Tumblr media
Helluva Boss; Better than Hazbin Hotel and it really got a nice balance between comedy and violence with a great cast. While it didn't blow me away 100% of the time, I very much am pumped for more if the quality's up there with the first two episodes.
Tumblr media
Animaniacs (2020); I agree that this is an unapologetically greedy show, one that feels like an incomplete not as memorable return to form, but it was nonetheless entertaining & I can appreciate that it brought back a good fandom love for the Warners. Counts for something.
Tumblr media
Magical Girl Friendship Squad; This show had a remarkably shitty first episode, but got its footing around episode 3. It's nothing I haven't seen before, better, but it's generally unique in presentation where I could tell there were somewhat improving with time.
Tumblr media
Meggy’s Destiny; A good capoff to an arc previous in SMG4's timeline. Has a pretty middling low point but it's sandwiched within a very entertaining & kinda cathartic film.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mr Krabs On Ketamine/Spongebob Rehydrated; I didn't enjoy Sponge On The Run, but these games certainly made me recoup my appreciation for Spongebob. To think both of these got their recognition through speedrunning, and both are a joy to see exist as they are.
Tumblr media
101 Dalmatian Street; It's a show about doggos with an amazing artstyle and an incredibly good cast. That's all there is to it.
Tumblr media
Owl House; Not as great after thinking about it for enough time. Some episodes are tediously unoriginal and I did not like the season finale. Doesn't make for a bad show because I very much want to see what's next for everyone in this universe. I love the characters and the story has a path I wanna see more of.
Tumblr media
Dorohedoro; A metal looking thrill ride where every protagonist is lovable and the casual atmosphere of it is what sells this series on top of its animation. Not as memorable but was worth sticking in my mind for more.
Tumblr media
Pokemon Twilight Wings; I don't really like anything Pokemon outside its animation and this certainly delivered. Neat stories centering around the Sword/Shield trainers where it has an arguably better grasp of what I'd want out of a Poke game than anything.
Tumblr media
Harley Quinn Season 2; Man, I was not expecting to love this series as much as before. I love the characters and the story they have for Harley & Ivy's relationship was not something I'd think would go as great as it does. Can't wait for season 3.
Tumblr media
Paper Mario Origami King; It felt like a while before I could say Paper Mario was good again & I feel lucky. I loved Olivia, it's certainly a more expressive game than before, this is a really creative game that was worth keeping.
Reply with some of your favorites from this year. See ya for the Top Ten.
