I have such a nostalgia for text-based rp because sometimes I miss it so keenly, but I HAVE ample opportunities to get back into it. It's just that every time I try, I end up unable to sustain it and I have to drop out.

At the same time I also feel guilty in a way that's hard to explain? Because I have all these friends that I met THROUGH text-based rp that talk about how much they miss text-based rp or how they still do text-based rp. I don't know why, it's not logical, but I feel like a traitor. Text-based rp influenced so much of my writing in the early years and created so many friendships, and I miss it. And I simultaneously cannot do it anymore.

Breda lets his surprise show in the form of a snort. Most people can't tell when he's lying. That the comm tech who only sees him once a year could read him like a book-- well, it's impressive, but more importantly, it's a blow to Breda’s ego.

So he throws a counterattack: "You always show your hand like that? We should play poker some time."

It’s good advice: knowing someone’s tells is invaluable precisely until they know you know. Then it’s worthless. But more to the point, hopefully this will distract from the subject about which Breda was, indeed, lying.

“Yes,” Olivier didn’t even look up from her work, “Close the door behind you.” She waited until she heard the sound of the door closing, and only then did she look up from the reports and papers on her desk.

“I want you opinion on something.” She gestured him over toward her desk, standing up so that both of them could maneuver around the desk better. “You submitted this report,” she said, tapping one of them, “and in it you mentioned that there had been connection problems between Briggs and Northern Command. Not too unusual considering the distance and weather,” she said, glancing at him for a quick confirmation.

“I was looking over these reports from some of the lookout posts as well from Northern Command, and some from key points of infrastructure,” she pointed to various reports as she talked, “and I noticed that they all seemed to be having connection problems from time to time. I requested the dates and times of the outages, as well as the weather reports. It looks to me as if there is a pattern here.” 

She looked up at Karley. “This is your field. I want your opinion on if this is happenstance, or if this could be something organized. If our communications have been compromised, we need to know and deal with it.”

I took Bray to the zoo and we ended up going to the park. She tried to get over her fear of dogs and wanted to take them both home. They wouldn't come over but she still had fun trying.
